  1. sorry might be a minor thing but seeing Boscombe to refer to Bournemouth in the build up thread is annoying and to have it spelt wrong is even more irritating no offence to the OP, but mods could you change it to Bournemouth! i'm a firm believer in omens and seeing it spelt wrong will suggest it will go wrong on matchday when we lose:uhoh: anyway, onto the game, an absolute must win, no two ways about, Hughes will know that, up to him to instil some bottle in these players. I don't buy this cr*p about not being able to commit players forward as we might get hit on the counter- other clubs seem to ******** do it- so when we attack let's get numbers in the box and throw ourselves at it. McCarthy Maya Stephens Bednarek Cedric Romeu PEH Bertrand Redmond Tadic Austin I would play this, and when we attack, we need Bertrand and Cedric to make those overlapping runs and PEH and Romeu to cover for their attacking runs when attacking- all so often these past couple of games its been long balls to Austin with no one within 30 yards of him! ridiculous football. let's keep the ball on the ground and smash these bournemouth tw*ts.
  2. Yeah I agree with the sentiments of this- we played reasonably well and didn’t get embarassed. In fact, a lot of ifs and buts in today’s game, like most football games! Shane Long 1v1, then a goal from Caballero’s mistake (debateable), Austin hits the bar, Caballero with the dodgiest save from Redmonds shot, Hazard apparent handball with the first goal (could not see this from my seat). The Saints fans were in decent voice, wish we did sell out our allocation to truly make it rocking! However I am home now all sound and tired in what turned out to be a truly frustrating afternoon. The Wembley fun is over and I am not even angry. The Bournemouth game is simply must win and far bigger.
  3. same, though funny as all my mates who support top 6 clubs don't want a super league because they know it wouldn't be comfortable for them. absolutely hate it when a United or Liverpool fan says to me 'but how many PL trophies do you have', and even infuriates me further when I live in Kent, full of glory hunters- it is like they expect me to just go 'yeah you're right, let me go support United because they have trophies'. Little do they know that the reason the PL is so popular and a global brand is because of the fans are of the other football league teams in this country- if everyone supported the top 6 and there was empty stadiums all around the country a lot of revenue would be gone.
  4. st totteringhams day.
  5. maybe but i guess the club don't care knowing that they aren't pocketing any of the money, but the FA is.
  6. 'the pitch'.
  7. and where we'd be if we never hired Pellegrino!
  8. fair play to them, showing more fight than we did Thursday. however expect headlines to be about Salah's 31st goal.
  9. Lemina I can understand, seems to be coasting based on the Newcastle and WHU game, he knows he is better than the club and knows he will be off. think JWP has been one of the better players this season though- still sh*t but that sums up our season.
  10. it won't, but on the very unlikelihood it does- I'd want JWP, Austin, Bertrand, Lemina and PEH to take our penalties. Tadic and Gabbiadini don't convince me, and even though I've not seen PEH take one, my guess is he can generate some decent power from 12 yards.
  11. yes. stopped selling them.
  12. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-04-19/video-maya-yoshida-post-leicester-southampton-premier-league-1718 gosh his expression is one that knows he'll be taking a wage cut and playing championship football next season.
  13. Southampton 13 McCarthy 2 Soares 5 Stephens 6 Hoedt 21 Bertrand 11 Tadic 18 Lemina 23 Højbjerg 22 Redmond 10 Austin 20 Gabbiadini The above line up is the one we played against West Ham 19 days ago. It had 2 up front. It worked out as a 3-0 defeat. However, I would have been inclined to go for a 352/3412 in the last 10 minutes.
  14. It was obvious he was bought in to be used in the Europa League for the 2015-16 season *****il Koeman truly messed that up vs Midjtylland). He certainly would have been utilised more if we kept him on last year with Puel. but yes, hope he does well. I look at most other PL teams and you see strong CB's good in both the air and in their defensive duties, and everyone else seems to have that explosive winger with an ability to beat a man. We have JWP and Tadic as our wingers. They will never beat a defender.
  15. Juanmi scored twice tonight for Real Sociedad in their 3-0 win over Athletico Madrid. Not bad.
  16. yes you are correct there. Swansea will stay up due to that positive managerial bounce. They won against both Liverpool and Arsenal on the trot, take those out and they'd be in the bottom 3. We haven't managed back to back wins yet all season I don't think. Also, just wanna add Cedric who really should have whipped that ball in first time towards the end of the game when we had numbers in there, Long who should have scored when it fell for him luckily, and then in the first half when he had an absolute mare of a touch. That second half, we should have switched to a 352, Long and Austin up top with Tadic in behind, Romeu and PEH in CM. I am sorry Hughes, but Davis is NOT the player you need as an impact sub for a goal, he would maybe a good sub if we had the lead and need composure to see out a win. Like our previous games, a night of ifs and buts. Also an honourable mention to Roger East, officiated well. It may have been different if we had him on Saturday and not Mike Dean.
  17. oh yes, how could I forget. I daren't think when was the last one before that, must be 2017.

    Mark Hughes

maybe when he says he needs players that will fight, he has only been left with the 11 starting today + Austin, Sims and Steven Davis. Will Lemina, Boufal, Gabbiadini or Carrillo play for us again? If he really wanted to play Davis tonight, should have taken Maya off and go offensive, or even take PEH off.
  19. on the plus side, stopped the losing run, and can the statistician tell me when was the last time we kept a clean sheet in the Premier League? I am not even angry today as I was after Newcastle and WHU, I've told myself we are getting relegated and quietly warming up for a Championship season next year. Yes, it is still possible to stay up, but the chances of me sleeping with Miss Universe is probably higher.
  20. Before the season started, in isolation this is a decent point to pick up. However, in our circumstances, this is sh*te. However we have had the two best chances in the game- Long failed twice.
  21. We are parking the bus when we need wins Put Sims or Redmond on pls. They are piling crosses into our box, we clear and it is back to them. And repeat.
  22. Please can we go for it, draws are useless now. Unless 0-0 is for the confidence boosting as it stops the losses because I would rsrher die trying and seeing if we can get that 1-0 even with the fear of conceding.
  23. Yes my mood exactly.
  24. Steven Davis on... for JWP???? Really? Prove me wrong Steven please
  25. ***** sake Long should have scored. Good save Hamer
