  1. well no but at the end of the day there is only one thing every championship team wants- that is PL promotion. and I would hate to be a yo-yo club therefore I'd rather attempt to win games in the PL than the Championship.
  2. McCarthy Cedric Stephens Hoedt Bertrand Sims Lemina PEH Tadic Gabbiadini Carrillo Bench: Forster, Pied, Bednarek, Romeu, JWP, Redmond, Boufal IF not, then for a 4231 variant I would put Boufal over either Carrillo or Gabbiadini and put him in the number 10 role.
  3. nah, we are in a relegation battle, but not in the relegation zone. anyhow, nice assist from both the referee and Carrillo to set Gabbiadini up for what was a brilliant finish by him- want to see him play more- he has proven in spells his ability yet Pellegrino doesn't see it. We rode our luck a fair bit today, what with the goal and McCarthy's handling outside the box- but then there are suggestions that Burnley's goal was also a handball. Overall, maybe a draw was fair anyway, both teams were as bad as each other and this was not a good PL game in general.
  4. commentator: credit to Pellegrino for playing the right substitutions. if only they knew half the story. full time 1-1
  5. thanks referee
  6. just about to say this god both of them up there with lowe
  7. when we win the ball back in our own half no one seems to bust a gut to get forward, almost like pellegrino telling them to stay back so we don't get hit on the counter or something.
  8. i feel like carrillo is how i would play as a footballer at the top level. run around like a headless chicken chasing the ball. no pace, not strong enough to win a header, haven't seen anything to suggest the guy can shoot, poor feet to even beat a man. a lucky assist against west brom last week doesn't do enough.
  9. gosh if we can do to them what they did to us at SMS- score against the run of play and win 1-0- would be sweet revenge.
  10. i feel like this is what the PL has become these days. bar the top 6 it's more about trying not to lose rather than trying to win. anyhow, lennon nearly scores- his effort blocked.
  11. looks like lots of empty seats too i swear- obviously cannot say much without context- and obviously burnley are there by merit but would much prefer sheffield, nottingham, leeds or birmingham clubs in the PL!
  12. Brighton 1-0 Swansea Bournemouth 0-1 Newcastle
  13. had a dream last night- we ended the season in 7th place and won the FA Cup. win today and we would not be too far off Burnley either I don't think. then I woke up of course, but imagine that as a season after the shi*e conjured up so far! would also make 90% including me eat some humble pie
  14. I always thought it was going to be third pick- our game doesn't have the viewership that the United/Chelsea games will have but following Wigans heroics then it would make us third choice- it is a difficult decision to make as to when our game can be played even when you minus the whole 'what time will get us TV companies most viewership' playing on a Friday- Wigan play on the Wednesday night- not enough recovery time for them playing on a Saturday- would see Portsmouth, Brighton and Saints fans all up north on one day, though with Brighton kicking off late this shouldn't be an issue, and as I mentioned before, in this day and age and in the year of 2018, I see no issues with us and Pompey fans travelling up north anyway- and Wigan and Oldham are still fairly separated anyway playing on a Sunday- the Wigan half marathon, I believe police/council would want this given DW stadium is also one of the crucial landmarks as part of the route playing on the Monday- international week, would require some sort of approval from FIFA etc etc and then you have the following live televised sport pencilled in live on TV for the weekend: Friday 16 March PL: 20:00 Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United (Sky Sports)* *This match is subject to possible FA Cup sixth round participation Saturday 17 March 6 NATIONS: 12:30 Italy vs Scotland (ITV) 6 NATIONS: 14:45 England vs Ireland (ITV) 6 NATIONS: 17:00 Wales vs France (BBC) PL: 17:30 Liverpool vs Watford (BT Sport) FAC: 19:45 Manchester United vs Brighton and Hove Albion (BT Sport) Sunday 18 March FAC: 16:30 Leicester City vs Chelsea (BBC) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Therefore, based on all of above, my prediction is that Spurs will be shown on the Friday night by BT Sport, and that leaves two more possible slots for the BBC- Saturday or Sunday lunchtime (if Monday is off limits). My prediction personally based on all this is the Saturday lunchtime, and I hope I'm right for me personally! I think the BBC would far prefer a double header showing us on a Sunday lunchtime to maximise viewership (given that final round of 6 Nations is on Saturday), but I am hoping the Wigan half-marathon can rule that one out.
  15. they'll do fine every week- only care about results now not the style of play.
  16. don't do this to me! do i or do i not now book travel
  17. Same- monday or friday and it is a no for me- saturday would be perfect if i could choose! I just don't see that big of an issue with saints, pompey and brighton (who kick off 7:45 anyway) fans travelling up north for one day- it is 2018 ffs, not the 1950s and 1960s. give us the 1230 saturday and be done with it.
  18. hmm a 4-3-3-1 formation. reckon we would win the league playing with 12 every game!
  19. fuc*ing pis*take. you just know advance train tickets will be gone by the time they announce it. absolute dogsh*t of a decision. only positive that has come out of it for me is that it confirms we won't be on a 7:45pm (which i wouldnt usually mind but you have extra time and penalties to account for)
  20. probs play with his Belgian mates in Vertonghen and Dembele (and Chadli for a brief amount of time!) also they are bigger than us despite their lack of trophies, and he has played in some big CL games in past 2 years.
  21. correct. this stat below says it all. - The average position of teams at the start of the day beaten by Southampton this season is 17.4, the lowest in the Premier League.
  22. Bednarek. Or Bertrand turns centreback and we play McQueen. there will always be 11 on the pitch. whether they are of the quality we want, well that is a completely different matter. I wish we had an owner who was not so transparent because it does make me wonder, why was at least £40m of the £60m we receive for VVD not spent in January.
  23. yeah go on i'd back that. and then for recovery i may as well go run that half marathon on the Sunday in Wigan.
