tbf to Pellegrino today- he has put out the team I would have liked- I hope it is in a 4231 rather than a 433 though- Spurs have some explosive players. anyways- come on Saints suddenly I'm geared up for this one.
-
you see i dont mind that- means he will have done well with us! same applies to players.
-
Yeah go on get him in- offer him an 18 month contract. The way I see it- if he comes to us his first game would be against his former club in the FA Cup! He’ll have a point to prove, so we win 3-0, and that victory gives us confidence to go beat Brighton and WBA, lifting us to 13th. And then rest of season is history...
-
shaqiris touch for their second goal was brilliant. BOURNEMOUTH now 1-0 up away to WHU. at least wba pegged back
-
ah- I'm just changing the channels each time there is a goal through notifications on my phone! using SM to do so!
-
watching all the goals as they go in- two set pieces for Arsenal. Jay Rod goal was quite nice as well, slightly lucky finish in the 1v1 but took it was a long ball over the top which he controlled very well with Everton's backline really high up.
-
as ideal as this is- what happens if we hire another Pellegrino
-
I do wonder, in light of recent Jack Rodwell articles where he is still being paid £70k a week because his contract did not have some sort of relegation clause in it at Sunderland- Have these new contracts actually ruined us? Did we put relegation clauses in these new £70k-£90k bumper contracts that we bandied out in the past years? If we did not put clauses in the way Sunderland didn’t, is it any surprise that these players are not motivated to earn say a mere £30k more elsewhere, and again that if Saints do go down, we would be forced to flog on the cheap as we couldn’t pay those wages in the Championship?
-
I'd play this: McCarthy Cedric Yoshida Hoedt Bertrand PEH Romeu JWP Lemina Boufal Gabbiadini Bench: Forster, McQueen, Stephens, Davis, Tadic, Redmond, Long I'd expect them to play a 4231, Lemina seems like he has the ability to drive forward, something Davis has been lacking this season. Redmond, Tadic and Long offer good options off the bench (well the latter two anyway )

used to have ST *****il 2015-16), now go about 6-10 home games and about 4-8 away games However, I'm nothing far like Shroppie- around a 220 mile round trip from Kent for me when I can go!

Well the U23s were relegated last season. The first team will be relegated this season. Don’t look like we are breeding or buying success these days.
-
Yes Fu Kin No Wan starts up front for us this afternoon.
-
At the end of the day, no one will sign for us unless we put in some sort of relegation release clause in- we are far too down the league table to look attractive right now. I can bet Les is probably offering contracts that mean the players wages get cut by 50% if relegated but offers no way out when we inevitability go down! Which rational player would even want to sign such a contract?!?!
-
Yeah should have been this- Ralph said we are a small club! We need those gate receipts and broadcast money and a sell out stadium!
-
Was an absolutely brilliant day out- and result was a bonus! Was at the Kings Arm prematch, was a decent atmosphere in there. My first trip to Craven Cottage and had to say I liked the away day out there, hopefully they can get promoted and some northern team can leave. Actually on second thoughts maybe with Pellegrino we’ll be playing Fulham next year anyway Atmopshere was generally good, only time there was true vitriol towards Pellegrino tho was with substitution of Hojbjerg. Just want to say fair play to Yoshida, Ward-Prowse, Romeu, Hojbjerg who gave their shirts at the end. Wish more did it! Means a lot to the average fan!
-
Location probably played a part in that too- Manchester is bigger than Southampton
-
I think I dreamt the perfect scenario last night. -So we draw 1-1 on Saturday, with the most disgusting draw ever, where we prk the bus to a championship team and get doninated but only get a goal due to a penalty that we unfairly receive, whre Fulham player gets the ball but Tadic bundles down anyway - This shocking play leads to Pellegrino gone and a new man in - We win the replay confortably at SMS with a new and improved uplifted atmosphere Think this is the middle line between those who want us to win and thisw who want us to lose!

i get the gist of what some ppl say tbf id sacrifice the cup if it means we stay up and it forces pellegrino to be sacked, over the choice of getting to say the quarters and getting relegated in the process due to the distraction of the cup and keeping Pellegrino in his job. That way, by remaining in the premier league, we stand a far better chance of getting and reaching finals again by staying in the top tier of football for the following years as it allows us to rebuild some of the dross we have. ofc, there are other viewpoints one can have- where one might say the cup is a distraction and increases chance for injuries/suspensions, others might say that a cup run would be the perfect confidence booster we need to get ourselves out of this relegation scrap. but again, this is a forum and everyone holds different views- and ofc everyone wants us to WIN every game we play, but when this game is placed in a certain hypothetical scenario like my second paragraph then views will change

'hopefully 2018 can change us' well palace game went well then didnt it.

This stadium revamp / improved customer experience.

weren't we the only club to use our £200k received by the Premier League to spend it on away fans who come to SMS rather than our own away fans who travel  -
same way i see it too. at the end of the day I don't want an owner to be really public and say yes, we will spend £200m and be all arrogant about it only to hit us in the ar*e. Maybe staying quiet means we can hide from all other clubs how much we really do have to spend.
-
I received mine last Friday- call the ticket office!
-
Well would they be off? A lot of them on long contacts and UNLESS they have a relegation release clause, are we not in the driving seat? Sure they would never sign a new contract but reckon squad would still be majority of this seasons squad? Or is it a case of us being forced to sell players due to paying PL wages in the championship?

Pellegrino for the banner
