  1. Yeah- what if instead of virgin we had 'Liebherr' on our shirt on a £100m shirt sponsorship contract ;) lol Could you imagine haha- im guessing there'll be something stopping that from happening
  2. Yeah it is still hilarious to this day, but so many people overlook that this did kind of happen to Man United too- they bought Bebe for £7m ffs.
  3. if we are sh*te and finish consistently bottom half we won't? then will you be happy?
  4. I only think VVD signed because Les said to him that you can go after a couple more years, don't think he would have signed otherwise. However, Heisenberg raises the point, does VVD's new contract have a release clause? If not, then whilst we can hold him for the full 6 years, Les and Virgil probs have a mutual agreement, and that is the same with most our players, similar to Morgan's departure and Wanyama's this year. And that is our business model, sign young promising players, improve them and sell them on for heavy profit. If anyone's answer to keeping players is give them £100k a week, Leicester have done that with Vardy, Mahrez, Drinkwaters on £80k now, and others like Musa+Slimani also on high wages, its not working for them though is it, just looks like hunger has gone. What our business model means is we get quality players on £50/60k without really overdoing it on wages, one thing I'll say is that maybe we could spend another £10-15m more this season, as I thought TV money would cover the wages, maybe we have stored that £15m for a rainy day! ---------------------------------- PS. What makes me laugh is how so many fans hate the money in football and that it is now a 'business, not a sport', or that 'fans are now customers', yet those same fans demand that more money is spent or that player X deserves a higher wage, only furthering the inequalities
  5. I think he'll leave 2018.
  6. Does that make Puel retarded then? tbf we have all expected Puel to rotate so shown in lineups posted above. I think we should ofc rotate, maybe not as much as Puel is doing but Spurs used it to make Kane, we may do similar, like I do think Jay Rod needs minutes to regain form.
  7. 6th, and I do think last season was a fluke by all means. It won't happen for a while yet. We won't finish top 6 for a while.
  8. Yep, which was part of my when i posted my preferred line up on post 2
  9. I don't think these players would be getting vilifed if they had say, at least reached a semifinal in the past few tournaments- but because we're shi*e, losing to Iceland, anything our overpaid pampered twa*s do will be crucified- as in- why should they have fun when they haven't given any joy to loyal English fans for the past 10 years. But say, someone like Özil was spotted in a club, I doubt German fans would mind, similar to Oktoberfest etc Or maybe the above I've written is just pure sh*te.
  10. okay so what is your point We will never reach "Level 1/2"? And that we'll remain level 4?
  11. You can't deny the OP has put a negative spin on it though, I think he has been a 7/10, more goods than bad, putting it very simply.
  12. I would love a bigger stadium, cheaper tickets, bigger fanbase. This might sound stupid but all the top top clubs in the world do have a minimum 40k capacity, I'm talking the Portos, Benficas, Sevillas, Dortmunds, Athleticos, not to forget the top 6 perceived here. I say that if I was a prospective foreign owner I'd factor stadium capacity because biggest clubs have the biggest stadiums!
  13. Why is it that he has one average game and these threads get started- give him time ffs.
  14. If I was Koeman and I had no connections to Saints yes I would move, BUT I would never ever do it the way he did. To claim to the media 'Yes, I will remain Southampton manager' etc etc was what ruined his tenure for me. He didn't leave because we don't have ambition, don't give me that bol*ocks, we have plenty of it, just the Southampton Way is different to other ways. I'm money motivated, I will admit it, and taking out emotional attachments yes I would move to other places if I wasn't worse off in some other way eg far from family, too long working hours/too long commuting hours- it would be a calculated decision ofc Koeman, by moving, has made a sideways career move but whilst them deluded Everton fans have top 4 ambitions, in reality, it is far easier to improve Everton's position last season than to maintain a top 6 level for us- and I don't think spending would be the answer to that maintenance- might have helped though!
  15. Forster Martina Yoshida VVD Mcqueen Reed Clasie JWP Boufal Long JayRod No idea if everyone above is fit. Only guessing that Reed will play so Rom can be rested for Everton.
  16. I think this would be seen a very good result if we had't fluffed up at Hull ffs. That result angers me the most, whilst the performance was average, I am delighted to get a point, would have been over the moon with 3
  17. We drew to sunderland at home.
  18. Whilst I don't agree, what I interpret Heisenburg saying is that we should have kept Mane for one more year, because even if it is £15m less we get for him, we'd still have made a profit on him and kept a really good player for one year, and also we can afford to keep him for another year. However there are so many factors, firstly, whether Mane would be giving it his all, secondly, whether we would get Boufal in if we had kept Mane. What Heisenburg doesn't realise is that selling at an optimum price when the price is at its peak is our business model, like it or not. Unless these players sign contracts (which we are doing), then players have the power. Go support another club if you don't like it- so many other clubs would love to be like us.
  19. Basically, would we wish harm upon our ex girlfriends?
  20. i do understand this position tbf, especially with a one-third obese population, does it make any difference having standing or sitting, at least with sitting there is a choice for fans. however having said that, my father does always say that terraces etc was what made english football great, so if young/loud fans, who are the ones who stand in Northam can make our support louder, all the better
  21. stuff like this, any club can say that tbf, its all ifs and buts- maybe if we had bought VVD earlier we could have won that Everton game at home, or the Newcastle game away, or beaten Watford away- or maybe we would have had a Europa League campaign if VVD played against Midgetland away, thus scampering our league form... We'll never know for sure... The key to your comment is, seeing as we are a mid-tier club/ level 4 as Glasgow puts it , then we need to find that next Suarez or next Aguero, there must be someon, somewhere in the world, just up to us to find him- Porto/Athletico Madrid are very good at doing that, practically their business model.
  22. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3930658/Manchester-United-revealed-biggest-wage-bill-world-football-average-Premier-League-player-s-salary-reaches-2-4m-year.html Well if the DM is to be true then we are 18th highest wage payers in world football and 10th in the Premier League!
  23. Clasie gets abuse for being short, imagine Giovinco
  24. how would we feel as fans if they did this, and in a hypothetical world without the FFP crap, they changed our name to Red Bull Saints, turn our home kit into the Red Bull colours along with a change in logo to make it similar to other Red Bull clubs, BUT our next 10 years we competed for titles etc like City are!
  25. whens the next round draw?!!!
