Happens every year- we lose to a relegated team. Wigan and QPR both at home in 2012/13 Cardiff at home, Norwich away in 2013/14 Burnley away in 2014/15 Norwich away plus a dismal draw at home do Villa in 2015/16 But agreed- Hull game feels far worse than Prague, because we knew we had a game in hand still to reach the knockout stages. Hull was awful on all accounts, just looked like we trying to coast it at 1-0

yeah we need to try and exploit that south american market which porto and benfica usually do- currently, i reckon if you did a south american xi vs a european xi, south america would win. some big talent there that british clubs dont really tap into, man city did with gabriel jesus but that was at a big price too.

havent uniteds last 70 fa cup fixtures been televised or something? reckon west ham game and man united game will. we got a boring draw ffs, wanted some random one though play redmond + u21s and second xi for this one. mccarthy martina yoshida stephens mcqueen reed jwp steven davis redmond long sims bench: forster, vvd, bertrand, romeu, PEH, tadic, Austin that would be the team id play against norwich, considering the liverpool semifinal- still think that team is strong enough to beat them even away from home + bench strong enough if needed!

yeah, but is that the goal now? One good game and you get rewarded with professional contract. It goes back to what Sol Campbell once said about how nowadays people get into England team after 3 good games, but around then you had to show consistent form for about 15 months to get a sniff of a cap. Then I think he spoke about racism or something. By all means let him replicate his talent further, think the bar for a new contract should be set higher than one good game.

non league team away. then again with poorer pitches forster will have another shocker again!
-
great news! long term academy prospect tied down now. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2016-12-05/announcement-sam-mcqueen-new-contract-southampton

Spurs just gave Kane 100k week contract, not to forget Lloris, Toby, Vertonghen, Eriksen all around the 90k mark, as have Leicester who have Drinkwater, Mahrez, Vardy, Slimani all on 90k plus. Our best get around £70k max I'd say.

I don't mind the policy as we have been doing well and selling these stars is a sign that they, and in turn us, have done great, of course I would love these stars we make to stay here and compete for us, but in reality that isn't possible without breaking the wage budgets considerably. I will admit though, that I am very scared it can go wrong one year- whether that is the wrong manager or wrong transfers- it is a very high risk strategy, even if we do plan all our transfers etc in advance, you still never know how they will do. For a club like us, we are as close to top 6 as we are to relegation.
-
Nah wouldn't say sideways- I reckon we offer higher wages than them.
-
from player of the month in February 2016 to crucified yesterday. im more worried about goals than forster tbh- he aint the primary reason for our defeats and dropped points.
-
lallana we only got £18m for it as bournemouth got a fair amount off it as reported. don't forget the net spend of £35m under Cortese- maybe some of it was repaying that. florin gardos, forster and long- 7.5 million euros, 10 million and 12 million pounds respectively redmond is juanmis replacement- boufal was £16m, don't forget that. also £5m more for Romeu, another £12m for PEH and £5m for McCarthy. put it short, we spend about 80% of our sales, and that doesn't even include TV money. then again, let us not forget that our wage bill is now higher than Borussia Dortmunds, so maybe its this and other debts- who knows for sure.

is tadic back for this?
-
Fonte passes the ball back quite often, hadn't gone wrong then.
-
Maybe our cup team is better than our league team
-
I reckon Reed took a gamble on him anyway- buy him- probably told Puel to play him up front too- make him a striker. Because if he has a storming season- say gets 17/18 goals- think of the money we'd make An English striker with 15+ goals and an English premium- at least £35m.
-
Well when we said if you could win 2 out of 4, don't think many chosee this So blaming whelk for the thread
-
Yeah everton also thought we were the perfect team to play last week. Also this was the strong team you wanted so.
-
well if you compare Redmond to his actual replacement (Juanmi), then I'd argue hes been an okay buy. I wonder if Puel would have utilised Juanmi unlike Koeman- we never saw him and board clearly felt he was surplus to requirements and not good enough.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3995534/Ronald-Koeman-Romelu-Lukaku-sprint-Everton-run-trouble.html Please go away Mr Carragher with your bullsh*t assumptions. 1) 'During the two years Koeman was at Southampton he would not have felt any heat or been subjected to any real criticism for overseeing a similar sequence, as was the case this time 12 months ago when he endured eight losses in 10 matches.' Didn't we have Koeman two games away from the sack? (WBA and Watford at home in Jan 2016) He more than felt the heat then ffs 2) 'I was surprised, then, that Koeman never returned to Southampton for Virgil van Dijk after John Stones was sold. This issue must be addressed in January or next summer.' you're an idiot then Mr Carragher if you thought we would sell VVD to Everton after a season. think this is why we all hate the city of Liverpool.
-
clyne and wanyama- but obviously i know it was because of their contract situations- think thats what eelpie means anyway, but obviously we've worked on that by giving many of our players new longer contracts.
-
question for everyone. say we beat liverpool with yoshida playing both legs of that semi- and thus meaning hes played all our minutes in the league cup this season would you start him or fonte at wembley?
-
that hull game will haunt us for a while- prague whilst shocking, we still had an insurance in the beer sheva game. had we won that, ohhh fgs lol. also weve put in some great performances where we didn't win, i.e. leicester springs to mind as well as arsenal game where they didn't deserve their penalty + watford and sunderland at home players were clearly adjusting but in hindsight those latter 2 games we should be winning if we aim for top 6/7 again
-
yes we aren't favourites but ever heard of the word hope?
