Hope we go strong for tonight. Cup is now our best hope for europe and I wouldn't want us to put all eggs in one EFL basket. With 6 sides fighting for the league this season the FA cup is up for grabs fo sho Would love a trip back to Milan or even South of France next season.... COYS

Definitely more entertaining football

Could learn alot from the NFL

The biggest issue is the owner - she inherited the club and is not a fan. She doesnt go to games anymore suggesting she never quite fell in love with the club like Markus did. Every club in the premier league now recieves £85-90m regardless of league finish (equal share) and each place is then worth an additional £2m in merit money (7th get £28m, 8th get £26m ect) Kat is maybe looking and thinking why spend £40m to get £10m more in merit money? Business view not fan view Even if we finish 17th the club will recieve over £150m this season all in. She is not wanting to gamble on success, she just needs to do enough to keep us in the league.

Everything has changed - Koeman talked quite openly about the clubs lack of ambition, but this was poo pooed by some on here as it was easier to believe he was a money hungry ass with zero loyalty. The summer signings were poor, we banked another £40m and now have Ralph and Les coming out with the revised 5 year plan which seems to be about Premier league survival not so much champions league chat anymore. The manager was cheap, the appointment of Black bizarre, the pending exit of our captain avoidable. Complacency and an owner that has only £'s interest in the football club. Its all gone a bit Pete tong from the 1st team through to the u18s

Seems to be some suggestions from ITKs that the rotation policy is lead by Reed/management. Take a look at Puels team selections at Nice and Lyon - shows no history of this manic changes game to game. Does make you wonder why he would suddenly become a manager obsessed with 6-7 changes per game?
-
Selling our assets - Mane, Clyne, Shaw, Morgan, Wanyama, Lallana, Lovren, Pelle has bagged the club a few quid... But the £60-70m profit on these you’ve then lost £50-60m on duds like Juanmi, Ramirez, Osvaldo, Mayuka, Forren, Gardos, Clasie, Cuco, Gazzaniga, Pied and Redmond (Possibly now Hojberg too) so the "secret" only works if you get it right everytime.... We don't!

I posted the below after hearing Reed talk earlier this month - if you recall the interview with Gary Neville last year too...... Reed spoke about it being the end of the gaffer era and how he was in charge of everything at the club.

You better shape up, 'Cause you're the only one, And my heart is set on you You better shape up, You better understand, To my heart I must be true. Puel you're the one that I want. (You are the one I want) Oh, oh, oh. Honey. The one that I want. (You are the one I want want) Oh, oh, oh. Honey. The one that I want (You are the one I want want) Oh, oh, oh. The one I need. Oh, yes indeed.

Schmeichel, Heaton, Antonio, Keane, Gray, Vardy, Mahrez, Lukaku, Barkley, Payet.... scary that Burnley potentially have more players capable of playing in top 6 than us now. Also there is a hierarchy within the top 6 - Man United bigger than Spurs for example. So why don't Man U just go and sign Deli, Kane, Lloris, Walker, Rose, Alderweireld and Dier?

£100m was so last season. A 7th placed finish this year will be worth £130-140m - that's from just premier league prize money (£85-90m equal share, 7th placed get £28m merit money + facility fees (TV games) is another £17-20m) chuck on gate receipts, commercial and other income and we are close to £200m a season before we start selling players Even a 10-11th place finish this year would provide £150-170m

& dont forget Bradford (2013) and that genius Phil Parkinson

Clubs turn down bids for players all the time - they dont all sulk and refuse to play. For every Payet and Berahino you have examples of Lacazette, Suarez, Sanchez, Lukaku, De Gea, Baines, Wilson, Deeney who accept the clubs decision and get on with there jobs. Why would us blocking a player always be the Payet outcome? Very few end like that

To answer your question - signing players that none of the rich clubs would want to buy in the future? Nope my suggestion is we buy players other clubs want, but we don't bend over and sell as soon as they ask. letting Wanyama's contract run out in summer 2017 and him leaving for £0? Wanyama is on 75k per week at Spurs, we could have matched that. And even if he did want to leave this summer, we got about £8-9m for him after sell on % and fees. He could have been the difference in us being dumped out of Europe at the first hurdle, the potential difference in getting to Wembley (EFL cup) and could be the difference in finishing 7th vs 13th. The merit money alone for finishing 7th is £28m this season vs £16m for 13th place sides. Would like to see the club gamble on some success once in a while As for daft threads...... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?57626-Puel-vs-Koeman-Comparsion-after-17-Premier-League-games#.WHzcpflTIu4 http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?57490-Puel-the-Tinkerman-it-is-working!#.WHzcwflTIu4 http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?57161-Play-the-diamond-love-the-diamond!#.WHzc2_lTIu4

Krueger says he has to make transfer policy clear to fans............. 2016/17 - Mane, Wanyama, Pelle 2015/16 - Morgan, Clyne 2014/15 - Shaw, Lallana, Lovren, Chambers, Lambert Thanks Ralph I think we got it

I’m equally unconvinced with Redmond - shows flashes but is more often very poor than good. He is 23 in a few weeks and has played over 200 games. Is he a forward that averages 1 goal every 11 games? or is he a winger that has 1 assist this season (29 games) and 2 last season (37 games)?

Only on this forum does wanting more, hoping for more and keen to win a trophy get translated into being "negative" I understand that some will be happy just to have a club and accept that we are mid table club with mid table ambitions (win some lose some ect) and I don’t criticize this outlook. However some of us simply want more and don’t want to settle for mediocrity. That’s not being negative, that’s ambition and hope. I am equally ambitious in my personal life - and simply demand and want more for my life, settling for the normal isn’t on my agenda. Guess that translates now to SFC, we had our dip and we are back - don’t dwell on past failures, look for a bright exciting future. We have a brilliant opportunity; my worry is that Everton are going to steal it while we watch and sit comfortable in 8-15th place.

Was taking a look at the squad earlier and its frightening how saturated we now are with very middle of the road players - assuming VVD is sold in the summer, we will have arguably a worse squad than we did under Adkins (2013) We have genuinely ran out of players to sell (to the top 6 sides) and we just look fully bloated with unexceptional players. What’s gone wrong with our famous recruitment process - the magic black box? We have one of the most expensive squads in Europe but full of totally bang average premier league players. GKs Forster McCarthy Taylor Defenders Van Dijk Gardos Yoshida Pied McQueen Stephens Bertrand Targett Soares Martina Midfielders Clasie Romeu Ward-Prowse Höjbjerg Davis Reed Isgrove Forwards Boufal Sims Tadic Redmond Rodríguez Austin Long
