  1. Do Saints wear red and white bras too ? ( to measure their distances run)
  2. Best comments yet on a bit of navel gazing by NC, MLT and Stelling. No one is bigger than our club.
  3. Dion Dublin
  4. I agree with many of the comments made on here, but in NC's defence I have noticed that unlike us, he has always perceived the club as starting in 2009 when the club was salvaged by Markus and all previous highs and lows are irrelevant. This may be unfair to all those of us around before then but I believe he is entitled to this approach. As a businessman he would have little sense of history before his own involvement. I can understand that and respect it. That is not placing him on a pedestal.
  5. Wednesday and Friday games is poor planning.
  6. With the FIFA (UEFA?) home players ruling coming in and also their expenditure based on income ruling, if promoted in the next couple of years, Saints will be no worse off than any other club except the top 4 or 5. In fact, with our Academy set up constantly distributing players of a more than adequate standard to play in the Premiership, I see not reason why we shouldn't become a top ten side again. An upper tier to the Kingsland would also help.
  7. Football has a very strange marketing technique. You would never get other forms of entertainment giving prior warning that the leading roles are being played by a team of understudies before the performance. Both Preston and Saints made it clear that they were fielding reserves, or squad players as NA refers to them. Hence the game has little appeal.
  8. 7,414 according to the BBC
  9. Soldsvedt (sp?) and Tessem seemed to hold there own against some class midfields in the Premiership. Michael Svensson for me though
  10. FF, how can we equal our best ever start when we've lost one already?
  11. Shame - Seven Developments have designed and built all the 'Miami' style houses on Sandbanks which have livened up the island from drab holiday bungalows ( and Saggy's).
  12. Souness used to live in Shawford and his rather attractive wife was often in the Twyford village store with their nipper. He kept the property when he went to AS Roma then sold up.
  13. I don't think NA does 'risk' or 'gamble'. His preparation etc is so thorough that his 4 subs would be calculated to cover all eventualities.
  14. Still empty seats though , as the thread title and OP query.
  15. Apologies for absence. I have two season tickets but run a team on a Sunday in the Hampshire County Youth League. Unfortunately we cannot cancel matches because Birmingham play European football on a Thursday. I expect many others who play/run youth or senior football on a Sunday had a similar problem yesterday.
  16. Indeed, dont rock the bus with us all on it.
  17. Enjoy the ride , football finance/league position is cyclical and we're currently on the up.
  18. This, but I seem to remember it happening several times and all at the Chapel end (?)
  19. Wow, good memory Saintmatt , or a fine selection of programmes. I'm sure someone who keeps a record of such things like who have we missed when we've changed divisions can help, but using your list and having been to most home and a few away since about 1987 I reckon , from memory I have not seen: Wigan and Swansea Stevenage , Chesterfield and Bury AFC Wimbledon ( although I saw us relegate Wimbledon at The Dell), Crawley, Aldershot and Bradford. Hope this helps !
  20. Thank you Nigel. What a fantastic year. Now onwards back to where we belong.
  21. New Chief Exec at Mansfield Town.... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14901438.stm
  22. You always coach full backs to show the winger the outside, giving the central players time to get back, so no probs with that.
  23. NA advised in his post match interview that Cork was in because Richardson was injured against Swindon. Both goals came from down his flank from balls sent behind him. I thought Fox was very good but was obviously under instruction to shuffle over as Forest continually exploited their left. One problem I saw was the lack of cover for both as Guly and Lallana seemed to drift either side or into the middle. I assume all this is NA instruction and therefore I have no problem with it. Cracking game.
  24. Best news on this thread to date. Get well soon Danny Boy! COYR
  25. Shame he didn't get that penalty, then we could have admired his casual run up and side foot wide, ah - happy memories !!!
