i agree 100% but those people are not the ones who will be effected by the changes, it will be the ones who have tried to make theior own way. I would probably vote for a party who would stamp those people out. I think you will find that Obama has started doing so in the US and it is about time it happened here. Why we have dependecy's like the IOM and Channel Islands and they are able to avoid VAT and have tax schemes is beyond me.

please dont use the im not academic to become a success, there are many people who are not academic who are very successful. Add making excuses for taking the benefits system for a ride because the jobs are boring is very sad and a reason why so many people are struggling. The economy can take lots more small businesses who work hard and go out and have a go. in the long term we need as many of the people at the bottom setting up and becoming a success. I do agree there are many who do not have a hope and they are the ones we work hard for to pay contributions to help, I have no time for the malingerers and soakers of the system, and dislike the waste of resources on these people. The majority of people want fairness in society but taking extra off people who already have paid a fair amount in is wrong. get the Government to cut back on waste and people report the ones on benefit fraud and we would all be better off. Of course there is the code of honour that wont let you report the cheats because it is seen as grassing up, it's yet another way of suppressing the poor. the only people who want the benefit cheats not get reported is the cheats themselves.

Property tax is a creeping tax. 20 years ago 200000 would have been seen as a wealthy persons property. Now that is quite a common value and many people on here will certainly own property in that price range. The government may up the levy as the time goes on but like stamp duty more people are brought into the net as time goes on. Any tax of envy is a dangerous game to play. Cut out the offshore tax loopholes by all means but do not penalise people who have staked the lot on hard work and risk. I believe if you started again and gave everybody 1000 at the end of the year there would be many with nothing and some who would be well off. Some are lazy ,some do not wish to take risks, others are poor at budgeting others are able to seize opportunity, that is life but to penalise is wrong. The better paid do pay higher tax and so contribute more of their income percentage wise, stop looking up in envy but strive to join them. I would love to be a billionaire but I'm not going to be as I am not smart enough,or not been lucky I don't get all bitter and twisted about it though.

FourFourTwo's 'Name your club's best goal ever'
OldNick replied to Crazy Diamond's topic in The Saints
MLT did so many, my personal favourite is the one away in front of the Kop where he lifts the ball over Mark Wright a coupple of times and makes him look foolish. If you wattch the Kop they applaud the goal. Tommy Jenkins away at WHU in about 68-70 . he seemed to beat the whole team before scoring -
No but if everybody has the same you dont have the pathetic jealousy that seems to be rife in our society. iam fully behind anyone stopping people like Sir Phillip Green who pays no tax but earns his money from the UK. To tax the people who set up the businesses that earn the money that makes the country wealthy enough so we can have a welfare system by creating exports, is wrong IMO. I do wonder where people think the countries wealth comes from to pay for the system. Governments or the public sector do not earn the country money, it spends it. We at present are desperately trying to balance the economy, so that the private sector grows, that in turn creates exports and jobs to offset the losses in the public sector. Taxing those people who are prepared to take the risks is madness IMO, as the incentive is gone. It has also been proven that the more you tax the less revenue is brought into the exchequer. I notice France are going to tax the very top people 75%, just watch that country slip back as people go elsewhere or the black econmy takes hold

North Korea is the best place in the world to live. Everyone lives at a base level, the state decides what you do and you worship the leader.Sounds gereat, no enterprise to worry about
-
so people who work hard and are successful pay 40% tax and then have to pay another high tax on their spending. it is madness and just envy. People who earn big money have higher costs of living that gets passed on to the greater economy. The moment you squeeze everything will come to a stop. I am in the luxury part of the economy and 15 -20 people earn part of their living as a off-shoot. So my products are then made more expensive, the business grinds to a halt and so the other companies do so and it starts the spiral. The best luxury tax there is would be on take away food packaging, 5p on every burger box, pizza carton , plastic sandwich container would bring in millions to the exchequer. Having a take away is a luxury

Just like the Toy salesman, as soon as it goes wrong they throw their toys out of the pram. Never did they get so het up when they were spending the money. It is just the football version of Greece, all happy and smiling until the gravy train stops and they have to pay the bill

The "who do we think should be in goal on Saturday" thread
OldNick replied to Ivan Katalinic's 'tache's topic in The Saints
you forgot to mention how he was voted best keeper in the last 2 seasons by his fellow pros, apart from that he is of a course a c### keeper Lol -
Lol whooosh
-
of course Trousers just puts up posts of no relevance to add to his total, which is a little bit off IMO
-
I used to be top but Im slipping down the league. Even Pedg is above me now
-
Don't be unkind.................to fuc.kwits. Im sure they wouldn't have anything to do with him
-
I had forgotten that one lol. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this about MM. As for Ho's quotes the best were on Saints Forever but I assume they have been lost. All those days when they were signing players on massive wages and he was arguing that they could afford it out of Tv revenues.
-
I notice you dont go back as far as MM. Do you not think that was also when strange things were going on? MM HR and his dog have been cleared in court and are innocent. In that period we had lots of discussions with your Mates on here and pointed out that you were in massive debt that was untenable. We had answers back that the Tv payments etc could cover the players wages, and when the sunday papers said you were 50m-100 in debt, it was sneered at. I never have like MM and would not touch him with a bargepole, he was very smart and deserted the ship before the s### hit the Pompey fans. BC is the man who saved your club and you cant see it. If it was not for his loan, Fratton Park would now be a like a Sinclair C5, something that was odd and laughed at, a bad idea and only weirdos likely to be seen in it.
-
they wanted the world to listen to how they had been pilloried. Then some of them go on Twitter on the day the 96 were mourned to wish death and cancer on Mark Halsey the referee who dared to send one of their players off. No doubt it is a very small minority but there are some real saddos out there.
-
Rallyboy asked if anyone still thought they had got away with it? I still do, they have had little pain compared to the glories they stole. Ho0w many really bad days have they had? 1 and a half seasons. Even in the CCC they had some good players and had a chance. They had 5 years at least of watching success and quality players, cup final appearances etc. If Bc comes backthey are safe and from there you never know what may happen, although if he keeps to spend what you earn they may suffer quite a bit more.
-
All fair comments if the club had been on an even keel. We as a club were in a civil war. I dont wish to go over the old ground as it achieves nothing. Opinions are polarised and so it will just become another bun fight.....good fun but
-
Very difficult decision. i recall in our relegation season Niemi being injured and Blayney(?) playing and making 2 howlers that gave WBA the point that ultimately saved them and us down. I agree KD has had a difficult start but the defenders in front of him have left him exposed to one on ones. A very brave decision to drop him and risk Gazza. Try changing Fox and see iif that side is shored up a bit.
-
No Im not denying that he likes a drink, but it is distasteful that many spout about it on hearsay only.
-
Have you looked at cobble matting? It is a fantastic system and different from all the other standard brick drives. When it is laid it looks like cobblestone. We had it done on our last property and would definitely use it again.
-
3m down is a long way to dig. I woud have thought with all the furore going on at the time one of the chief suspects with a pick and shovel, digging his drive may have given a clue. There again!
-
There has only been one manager for Saints in over 40 years of supporting us who deserves the hatred Burleys gets on here and that is Branfoot. Has Burley ever been sacked for his drinking? Has there been photos of him drunk in a public place? In this age of camera phones it is quite surprising that such a prolific drunk has not been captured on camera. The Loch Ness monster has been pictured more often. Very few managers would have coped with the politics and unrest going on at the club at that time.
-
yep Saints are the biggest football club on the South Coast, have been since the 60's

Culling beavers does that count?
