Chelsea 0-2 Saints - FT - Merry Christmas!

I do wonder what Armstrong would have done if Kante hadn't nicked it, would he have slipped Adams in or would he have made that pass to Redman or was he setting himself up for a pop, because we know he can hit them from distance. At the time I thought he should have passed to Adams before he looped the ball over the defenders head.

If we’re nitpicking on what was a brilliant performance, Bertrand and PEH were relatively poor. Che Adams struggled immensely first half but turned things around in the second half. Even Redmond was a bit off the pace in the first half before taking over the game (with Armstrong and JWP) after the break.
Why would anyone be nitpicking what was one of our best team performances in aeons?

Everyone contributed to a deserved result.

Prowse was busy yes. He worked hard I agree. I just didn't see him do anything outstanding. People are allowed to have different opinions.

For me it was Armstrong who ran the midfield. Constant positive and attacking play.

As for Prowse being MoM? You have never had an opinion different to a commentator or do you let others decide your opinion for you?

So he was busy and he worked hard but had a “nothing game”? Ok mate.

You are of course allowed to have an opinion my dear, but on this occasion, your opinion is emphatically wrong. JWP was excellent yesterday, something that only you seem to think is up for debate.

And as for your final little dig, I said to the guys I was watching with that it was between Armstrong and JWP for MOTM, although Stephens would have a good shout too, and everyone agreed but said that JWP edged it. He may not have done anything fancy like you probably do on fifa, but he was absolutely outstanding yesterday, and that is a fact. Finally, I rarely agree with the pundits on MOTM because they tend to just pick the goal scorers, so I was delighted when they picked JWP because they obviously saw what everyone else saw (aside from the few agenda driven).

Yea, tried that but still didn't work. Technology getting too smart - at least for me anyways! Not sure why they won't allow it - can get all the TV and movies etc. Still have BT Sport so good for the Spuds game - will be in dreamland if we get anything there :-)

Possibly try putting the VPN on UK then access Amazon and register a uk address.

Just watching another game on Amazon Prime - and rather a tasty start with Ederson sent off, Aguero sacrificed after 11 minutes. Looks like Liverpool’s season. Oh well, SFC needs the bonus money for new players unless Gao does clear off (crosses fingers). I spoke too soon - a Man City penalty re-take!

Back to yesterday. This was the best Saints performance for me since the League Cup Final, or Liverpool semis, and arguably since Koeman. It was no smash and grab - the best side on the day won comfortably. Defensively solid, the midfield worked very hard and was more creative and the front two caused problems all game. Ings rightly rested, Obafemi’s best game so far capped with a fine solo goal and thought Adams held it up well with a nice turn of pace to stretch Chelsea. We will see more from him when he breaks his duck, hopefully v Hudds.

JWP had one of his finest games, had that edge to his game back that Ralph helped him find last season. PEH miles better recently and Armstrong has brought them all alive with some pace and willingness to run. Stephens needs to carry on this form.

Because some people appreciate some insightful analysis or review of a game? Particularly if you didn’t get chance to watch the game it is good to get a useful assessment of how everyone played, not just “put them all on the banner!” or “they all deserve a public lynching!” based on the final scoreline.

....diabolical against Villa.

Oh that's ridiculous, I was there and he played really well. Linked up well with Armstrong and was part of the reason we won.

I like to respect all views on here and fair enough you don't think he made as good contribution as I do, but diabolical ......

One of the most underrated players is Armstrong, does the basics well and can actually pass a football in midfield looking like a shrewd bit of buisness.

A Celtic supporting acquaintance of mine said that Armstrong would have to have 4 or 5 full games before you saw the best of him but the best of him is class. I see what he meant. Definitely my MoM.

It wasn't a dig. More of a comment about you stating I'm emphatically wrong In my opinion because I disagree with the commentary.

Prowse did nothing outstanding. Nothing. Running and tackling is the minimum he should be doing. It's possible he was more successful in this game because Chelsea are more lightweight in midfield?

I respect your opinion. I don't respect you stating that I'm wrong just because we disagree.

He was, along with PEH, who was even worse. Diabolical was putting it mildly. Most people here seemed to agree that he was bad.

All due respect but if you come on here for that!!! I accept there are one or 2 who I would respect their opinion but go and read the match threads and you will see what poor judges most are.

'Ings he's a waste of money, he does nothing, we were mugged by Liverpool take him off Ralph,' 30 seconds later Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees get in there, Ings 1-0.

Was at the game and had a cracking day out pal. But that doesn’t mean you can’t (attempt to) be objective about individual performances while being delighted by the overall result and performance.

I didn’t say that at all. In fact, not once did I mention the commentary. So I will repeat for clarity, the reason I think your opinion is wrong, is not because it goes against what the commentators have said, it’s because it goes against what every single person who watched the game with their eyes open have said.

Prowse may not have skinned 3 players and scored a great goal, or played a 40 yard pin point pass to set up a tap in, but that is not always what the game is about. He was absolutely everywhere and an huge reason as to why we won the game, which is very far removed from having a “nothing game”.

What is up for debate is whether or not he deserved MOTM, but that is more a reflection on just how good everyone else was.

I too respect other people’s opinions when they are fair and substantiated, your remarks are that of a person with a dislike against a player, no matter how well they play. So you have every right to your opinion, but I have every right to tell you that it is wrong. And until you put forward a genuine argument to back it up, then it will remain wrong.

To give you an example, I can say that in my opinion, Wesley Hoedt is misunderstood, and in fact a better defender than VVD, I have the right to express that opinion, but would also expect to be ridiculed because I have nothing at all to back it up.

As I wasn’t able to post this earlier, I e just come back from the game after witnessing another MOTM performance from JWP. In this one, he even added in some pretty outstanding passing, and a very good free kick effort. I’d be interested to know if this was another “nothing game” from him, which incidentally was met with laughter when I mentioned this to the guys I go to the games with.
