spyinthesky Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 Four random questions: 1. Where did the end of season collection money go? Has it been given to the club to pay expenses or in suspense somewhere? 2. Does the disappearance of the banners along West Quay Road have any significance. Presume term agreement expired? Shame looked good. 3. Will Anthony Pulis ever play for the Saints or will he join Perry Groves as a figment of our collective imagination? 4. Can all this recent misery be traced back to the fans disquiet when Rupert arranged to get Hoddle back? (Only time I can think of when Rupes listened to the fans- via Andy Cowans)
SaintRobbie Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 Here's mine: 1. Do we have enough time to rebuild the side in the summer now or are we now left with a Lowe-ish team of kids? 2. Do we have to have Wotte? 3. Will we relegate to League 2? 4. The big one.... does anyone else think that Pompey are likely to relegate this season... watching the exodus and noting Crouchie is set to rejoin Harry I wonder... ?(and hope!) Probably most on here would ideally want to try someone else, however that's not happening at the moment. It maybe new owner will change manager straight away, or they may stick with him, who knows. There are loads of examples of managers who, given a bit of time improved and did decent job - he maybe one. Most on here are also willing to give him a go and have seen some qualities in him. I appreciate I am not going to convince you to rate him, but we have had far too much negativity supporting saints and on here, please you have made your point, give it a break and maybe even support him and hope he impresses you. NickG Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 was looking at their odds yesterday - think 6th fav to go down, prem clearly tight so longer they are without manager, players leaving not coming in will make it hard.

CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 2 July, 2009 Share Posted 2 July, 2009 PFC only just survived last season and their squad has weakened significantly since then , as it stands they're looking a pretty good bet to go down I'd say . I find it most peculiar that with a supposedly mega rich new owner on the horizon they still feel the need to cut the wage bill so drastically while signing nobody and leaving the managment situation unclear . Perhaps one of our semi-tame Saintsweb pompeyites might care to enlighten us on the latest developments , though it must be said I'd swap our problems for theirs in a New York minute . labibs Posted 3 July, 2009 Share Posted 3 July, 2009 I think Pompey will struggle if their takeover doesn't go through soon. They've lost Johnson and Campbell looks set to go. Clubs are sniffing around Distin and James was pretty poor last season. If Crouch leaves, they don't really have any truly class players left and the dour Paul Hart as manager... chocco boxo Posted 3 July, 2009 Share Posted 3 July, 2009 P*mpey are off my radar at the moment as they are in The Prem and we are bottom of League 1 already. They hopefully will come back onto my radar this time next year as we meet in the Championship. My Question. Can Mark Wotte turn the fans around like Kelvin Davis did? Hopkins Posted 3 July, 2009 Share Posted 3 July, 2009 I have one of those Save The Saints banners in my room after a drunken night out. A fantastic achievement i'm sure you will agree to get that fooker down and back to my room despite heading onto another club straight after. Hiding it without anyone seeing it and later finding it and then actually remembering where I hid it hours later. Good times.

graymalkin33 Posted 3 July, 2009 Share Posted 3 July, 2009 I cant take any pleasure in other clubs misfortunes at the moment. I gloated in the past over a friend who supported Leeds. I wont be doing that again. I dont care what happens at Portsmouth. I only care about what goes on with Southampton. Nothing else matters what so ever. The big one.... does anyone else think that Pompey are likely to relegate this season... watching the exodus and noting Crouchie is set to rejoin Harry I wonder... ?(and hope!) 3. No, because relegate is a transitional verb, but we might be relegated to League 2. 4. I don't know, who are they playing in their last few games ? If they are playing a team who is mathematically in danger of being relegated before the match and definitely relegated after the match then they may very well relegate someone. The9 Posted 3 July, 2009 Share Posted 3 July, 2009 Call me a pedantic git (it's OK, I'm used to it), but teams don't relegate, they get relegated. You're not being pedantic, it is a completely acceptable and rational fury at the utter mangling of the English Language. Plus he's the only one that does it at the moment, so we might actually be able to stamp it out at source. Anyone coming out tonight to inebriate ?
