Mark Wotte appreciation thread

Recommended Posts

I'd just like to say thank you to Mark, as he has acted with honour and integrity through this whole debacle.

I personally wish you the best of luck

Seconded. It must have been hell with all the uncertainty going on, but he just kept ploughing on. An utter professional to the end.

Best of luck Mark. You've done your future prospects no harm at all with how you've handled yourself these last few months.

Yep, well said and well done for starting this thread. He certainly deserves our thanks and good luck to him in the future. If good guys do get their reward he should find another job soon, I hope so.

Thanks for everything Mark. I have to admit i was completed astounded when i heard of your sacking.

The way you handled yourself through this whole mess has been superb, so i thank you so much for that. If manager were judged on loyalty and commitment to the cause you would be up there with the Fergies and Mourinho's. Unfortunately it isnt that way. Best of luck in your next job, you deserve every success.

Thanks Mark

I know it was a difficult time when you became manager as we were a team plummeting down the league, so I thank you for trying to save us.

I also thank you for standing by us when you could have easily walked away, instead you started preparing us to the best of your ability for the new season.

Unfortunately you were just too out of your depth, and I believe the right decision was made in letting you go................. but thank you so much for your loyalty, I will always have alot of time and respect for you.

Good luck in the future in whatever you may do.

MW appreciation thread? Could be the shortest thread in history. Good riddens!

Don't be an *rse. He did his best in impossible circumstances, conducted himself with dignity and stayed loyal to the end. Whether he was a good coach we'll never know, but I for one say thank you for all your efforts and wish him all the best

Just why have you got to be like a total pr1ck, he may not be the greatest tactical mind on earth but he showed he is a man of honour, who stood by us when the chips were down.

The sooner we are rid of so called fans like you the better.

So do I but if we get in someone like Hoddle Curbishley or Coppell I will be pleased.

How things have changed over the last 24 hours

I feel sorry for Wotte. He conducted himself admirably during this very difficult period, when it would have been very easy to walk away; he even turned down a job offer. He should be commended for his efforts last season, and for holding the fort during the summer.

You were set the unenviable and hopeless task of saving a sinking ship with no resources while being associated with the most unpopular regime in our history.

It would have been nice to see what you could do on a level(ish) playing field and money behind you. But a fresh footballing start is also important.

Still, you carried yourself with dignity behind the scenes while others were making us look like a joke in public. Without that kind of professionalism, investors would have had been much more wary to go near us. Our long-term future is now secure. Good luck.

feel really sorry for mark. but not surprised. was always on the cards. would have loved to see him stay in some capacity. very honourable and top man.

+1

Always thought he we go, but would have liked the new owners to offer him another role in the backroom staff.

Seconded. He acted with the utmost integrity and deserved better. But football is a ruthless business sometimes, I hope we have paid him off adequately, although I doubt the money will compensate for the loss of the challenge I'm sure he was looking forward to...

This sort of thing doesn't make me proud to be a Saints fan. He stood by us when there was no certainty he would get paid and acted with dignity. While I admit to being excited at who we might get instead, the least we could have done would have been to offer Mark his old job back with the youngsters. Shabby, Mr Oldknow, shabby.

This was the inevitable result of being the in situ manager as a major takeover occurs........... whatever your opinions of the man in terms of his football management and coaching skills, he has, throughout behaved with politeness, honour and dignity........and the world of football, and society in general would benefit by having more people who behave in this manner........I wish him well

Just said on South Today that they had recieved a text from Wotte and he was devastated. Poor bloke didn't see it coming, I think he deserved a chance to see how he got on in the job.

Best of luck Mark.

My heart agrees with you, but my head says that it is better for it to be done now while there is a "clean sweep" underway than it would be to have to do it halfway through the season. I agree with all the positive sentiments about his character and professionalism, but I had a nagging feeling that he was not going to be the best long term solution.

Having said that, in the short period between his contract as manager ending and the takeover being complete, we faced the prospect of a load of players wandering around the training field scratching their arses. We also had the small matter of a couple of friendlies to play. I was extremely relieved to hear that he had accepted a rolling contract to enable things to keep going and I cannot help feeling he has now been crapped on from a great height. Pretty ruthless in fact.

Bloody hell. Are you using Richmond's keyboard with the extra full stop keys?

All the best Mark. Amongst all the crap that has gone on with this club over the past few months you've shown great loyalty. I wish you all the best for the future, thanks for all you've done during this immensely dark time. Good times ahead, its a shame you won't be at least part of them, manager or otherwise.
