Papa Injured

One Papa doesn't make a winter, he didn't show us that much on Saturday that our entire season depended on him alone, but it is disappointing nonetheless.

Facing another 38 games of Lallana running round like a headless chicken and giving the opposing goalkeeper practice at catching from crosses and corners does not exactly fill me with anticipation...

Yeah! Lets all run for the hills, bury our heads in dismay....

FFS, the OS says he was was subbed at the ressies game "as a precaution"..... lets see what transpires from that.....

As for it all being Pardew's fault for signing injury prone players...... **rolly eyed smiley**

And finally, can we lay off slamming the players others see fit to play on a regular basis - just for once......

We (the fans) have a history of destroying players with ridiculous statements about being fir to wear the shirt for this reason and that...

Kelvin Davies a few years back anyone? He showed us what determination and loyalty is actually about....

Even Jason Euell! Slated by som many (inc me!), but came back determined and showed he was actualy a useful player too!

Lets get away from the sweeping statements like "gives the keeper catching practise" - because that's clerly not the case and makes you look (even more) dumb....

I'm sure AP and his team will keep building the confidence in the team, keep some stability in team selection (even if someone has an off-day) and bring us success.

Looking forward to Carlisle now! :-)

Agreed - that's why I suggested playing him in a different role. Pardew was full of praise for him though and was perhaps the one thing I had trouble accepting from him on Monday night at the fans forum.

It's amazing how negative everybody becomes when something happens to a little star. Chin up everyone, remember Lowe don't live here anymore so open your heart and give the club one more chance (but make sure you repeat that over and over)

This club is my Saturday ray of light. Nobody's perfect but we're just getting into the groove. Remember we were getting deeper and deeper into debt until ML came along and saved us (He's a man). Why's it so hard to become positive?

I'm all for you doubters being able to express yourself but don't tell me that you were expecting an easy ride. Like it or not, in this life, we all need to have a fighting spirit

There was a time when we said Goodbye to innocence when we found we had a gambler amongst us but his boots had long been hung up and he admitted "I'm so stupid".

So, COYR, Justify my love for you, I'll be your lucky star.

I think this year we'll stay in this division but it won't be a survival battle. Sooner or later we'll push up the table. Don't let down your guard though.

I for one would like Lallana to be given the chance in the 'free role'. Just so he can finally be assessed by all clearly without another 'alternative role' being mentioned as an excuse.

Stick him there, let's see how he does. Hope he scores and sets up loads - because, guess what, WE'D WIN!!!

There, I said it. Perhaps then we can see an end to the 'protection policy' that seems to be in place for him by some.

BTW, his corners ARE catching practice for the keeper. Fook me, by the above statement I actually agree with Nineteen.

Totally agree with that.

You only had to see the difference on Saturday between the three corners in succession taken by Mills 'which actually looked dangerous and led to panic in Yeovils penalty area' and the one straight after taken by Lallana 'which just floated with no pace straight into their keepers hands' to know who should be taking our corners.

On the subject of Papa, we now know that Pardew is looking to bring in some more pace from his comments on Monday evening. Perhaps we could do a deal with Colchester for Lisbie, just like the one that Boro have done with Preston for St Ledger. He looked the best player on the pitch the other week at St Mary's and although playing as an attacker, his pace allowed him to get back break up our attacks and then get forward again while they were in possession, with better service from his team he would have punished us, as he almost did when he hit the bar with the one half chance that they did create for him.

I'm sure that he'd create the space that Lambert needs for us to get the best out of him, and he also has the strength to hold the ball when it's lumped up to him, so Lambert wouldn't always have to play with his back to goal, as he does at present.

Exactly Tractor Saint. At work (yes i do some work sometimes) we laugh our arses off reading it sometimes. It could be something so trivial as the water pipe got a leak = we are fooked, best get ready for life in League 2 etc... But what is more humourous is those people trying to justify why they have that outlook :)

Wow, sarcasm from Torres, now there's a first

Not at all. I was sharing your sense of despair that a player of unknown quality and ability and who has played a total of 20 minutes for us this season may now be a bit injured, meaning our season is over for sure.

I'm distraught and nothing anyone can say will console me.

I am currently sitting here reading this thread, and visualising our season flying off into the sunset.....

WTF?! Even that's more mellow dramatic than usual. You're certainly a "the world's gonna end!"

sort of person rather than enjoying this gift of life, that's for sure!

Why does Pardew insist on buying injury prone players? Murty now Papa - WTF

Most ridiculous post! Pardew has signed very astutely thus far. Murty was playing well & improving his fitness before injury &, as implied by AP at the fans forum, AP & the club were shrewd enough to sign Murty on a special contract relating to fitness & injury against performances.

Waigo picks up a knock on the ankle & it's more over-reaction &

doom & gloom. What the hell is wrong with people?! It may be just...wait...

....a KNOCK! (a minor injury that is quickly overcome). Hopefully, nothing more serious.

However, despite Pardew & Cortese being human & having faults like anyone else, I'm fairly sure their powers aren't strong enough to include seeing into the future & creating force fields around players/sportsmen to prevent kicks & injuries! Damn this new regime!!

;0)
