doughnutman Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 Can anyone at the game, answer how he got on? Do we really need to sign another player if he is capable of doing a job for us and showed it today?
benjii Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 He might be capable of doing a job, but the job he's capable of doing is not really the job we need done IMO.
SoccerMom Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 Terrier-like as always, good at breaking up play.... and then tonking the ball to the opposition. Love his attitude, though.
Psycrow Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 maybe AP gave him a run out to see if he has options considering we'll be without Morgan and Hammond for a couple of games
Crouchie Crouchie Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 he played ok, seems like he can't make the simple balls to his team mates. other than that he was alrite, but i think wotton/james did a better job at hounding ipswich and winning the ball. MINIBARCELONASAINT Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 one thing is that, unlike Wootton and James, he can attack and defend, twice he made killer runs through the middle of the park and if it wasn't Antonio to play him through he could've scored
LeBenali Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 Seemed to do alright, but at the same time nothing that Wotton/James can't do. Wouldn't mind him sticking around, but at the same time would instantly trade him in for a Danns/Stock type player.
niceandfriendly Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 He did alright, was nice to see him get a good reception. His attitude was spot on and he chased everything with some success. I like him, but not sure I'd put him in our starting 11 if it was up to me.
Toadhall Saint Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 Thought he did well - broke from MF on a couple of occasions only prob was the man with the ball didn't see him.
derry Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 Wotton and James were awful and were carried by the rest of the team today. Gillett looked better than either of them.

L1Minus10 Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 Too small to defend, too slow to attack. not good enough. Only on the bench cos of a) Hammond's injury. b) morgan's suspension, c) not having replaced Mellis yet. He's not good enough and the sooner we get rid the better. dronskisaint Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 Played ok at a difficult stage of the game, chased & harried as is his game & did all that was asked...the icing on the cake would have been to put away Antonio's cross. Sadly he's 5ft 8" not 9'0"! I'd be happy if he stayed
david in sweden Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 Can anyone at the game, answer how he got on? Do we really need to sign another player if he is capable of doing a job for us and showed it today? The two strongest players in our midfield are unavailable..we nned everyone who's qualified to play in cup games. At least Gillett can't play for Donnie if he moves back..they're in the 5th round , too.

Pat from Poole Posted 23 January, 2010 Share Posted 23 January, 2010 He might be capable of doing a job, but the job he's capable of doing is not really the job we need done IMO. I think this is the crux of the matter. We need somebody who is really going to make an impact in midfield, somebody with a presence. The way Carlton Palmer played in his first season for us is the kind of thing we need.

Nadia Sllim Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 not razor sharp but could definately do a job as a sub! Like his attitude.
shurlock Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 Only willing to make a judgment based on a full match - each time he's come on -Millwall, Birmingham, Ipswich- we've been hanging on or trying to close a game. Hard to find your feet in these conditions. Midfield is probably the hardest position to come into as the game is hurtling/happening all around you. Did enough last year to warrant a closer look, possibly even a start.
david in sweden Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 No, they lost 1-0 today. oh well , that decision makes it all academic, then...well he would have been cup-tied because of that. Might put a bit more om his value..if he was part of a winning side.
Rocker268 Posted 24 January, 2010 Share Posted 24 January, 2010 There wasn't really enough to judge, Antonio wasted a golden opportunity to put us 3-0 up though, had he passed it across the floor Gillett would have been able to tap it in comfortably I have always liked his attitude though so I reckon he deserves a bit more of a chance
