Rut Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 Saints to win the Superbowl on Feb 7th Saints to beat Pompey the weekend afterwards. New Orleans Saints have always been a bad team. This year they have been good & getting to the Superbowl is a bit like if SFC were to get to the FA Cup Final this year. They sing: 'Who Dat, Who Dat - Who Dat say they gonna beat dem Saints'. (as in 'nobody can beat us' kinda thing). This why they are known as the 'Who Dat Nation'. They also sing 'Oh when the Saints go Marching In'. No surprise there but it is always good to hear that song being belted out. If they win the Superbowl I think it will be a good omen for the week after. 'Saints win' headlines will p*ss off Pompey fans - whatever the sport!!!

dubai_phil Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 After the hell they went through after Hurricane Katrina and what happened in their stadium with all those refugees, they deserve all the time in the limelght they can get. Strange how the two Saints sides have had rough times over the past few years (through totally unrelated causes of course) but now both are on the March. Nice that they think of us Who are their version of the skates I wonder? Did they beat them on the way?
JRM Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 They sing: 'Who Dat, Who Dat - Who Dat say they gonna beat dem Saints'. QUOTE] hahaha, what excellent use of English / sentence structure. If we get to the FA Cup final maybe that can be our song recorded with 50cent in a duet with Paul Wotton? had thought about visiting America this summer but that song has just put me off again. AussieDog Posted 25 January, 2010 Share Posted 25 January, 2010 Unfortunately, Soccermum, some people still think it's funny to be rude and obnoxious for the sake of it, whereas most people grew out of that phase soon after completing potty training. I think good wishes from anywhere are a reason to smile after the miserable time we have endured for the past 6 or 7 years! Smile and be happy people - there's enough sh1t in the world without resorting to needless insults and rudeness. Happy Clappy and proud!! And, yes, they beat them to secure a bye in the first round of the play-offs. To quote, "wooo heaux!" - but that could just be Carnival talking. Would love to be at Mardi Gras (16th Feb) this year if the Saints win on the 7th. I'm also told that stores are already selling out of black and gold (the Saints colours) glitter. Rut Posted 26 January, 2010 Share Posted 26 January, 2010 OK - I know some of you will rip the sh*t out of this but I reckon it's pretty good. Celebrating Saints fans - you can't beat it. http://videos.nola.com/times-picayune/2010/01/saints_video_bourbon_street.html Check out the mush in the bar in the yellow t-shirt singing 'Oh When the Saints'. He definitely has some potential. With a load of SFC fans to guide him in to how to sing the song properly I think he'd do well. He appears to have the right idea about getting w*nkered. You then get the celebrating of the winning Field Goal and then at about 1.30 the 'who dat song' can be heard. Again - with training - we could get them to ditch the brass band and add a few more songs to their repertoire. Here's to Southampton City Centre looking similar on 13 Feb - full of celebrating Saints fans! PS Can someone link me to really good video of SFC fans singing 'Oh when the Saints'. Cheers. SoccerMom Posted 27 January, 2010 Author Share Posted 27 January, 2010 (edited) One of my friends wrote this to me last night. Got any recommendations for links to send back? Would be kind of cool for our Saints to feature in their press: "We just won the league championship Sunday for the 1st time against the Minnesota Vikings and will play in the Superbowl the first weekend in February! This strange Star Trek "Parallel development" thing with YOUR Saints MUST get into the newspapers here. They are running out of things to write about the upcoming game and it is all so similar it is freakish. May YOUR Saints in South Hampton kick the butts of their rivals and also prevail!!! Please send any links to your Saints so I can forward it to the newspapers here. The tale must be told! I love that they were as downtrodden as we were for just about as long. New Orleans is outta control over the Saints! After 43 years of failure what an appreciated blessing! We are all SO happy and grateful. Even those who have never followed football are totally immersed. Not just the major streets but in EVERY area of town, folks shot off saved fireworks from New Year's or just poured outside hollering and crying to honk the car horns. Truly a once in a lifetime event for us, at least so far... However, the folks here do know how to behave in large crowds from years of Carnival parades. There was NO crime of any kind before, during or after the game. Now that proves that EVERYONE, even the worst, were only watching the Saints. I don't know much about soccer, but may the Southampton Saints kick ass and get to their game as well!!!" ps Wiltshire, it's OK Edited 27 January, 2010 by SoccerMom
