Play offs haven't looked likely for some time.

 

However this is a good season. We are 90 minutes from Wembley and in the 5th round of the cup.

 

Our league position is secure.

 

I would have taken that in July!!!!

would have been nice to get into the playoffs, but i always saw them as a long shot and a complete bonus. Next season should be fun though.

Yes it's not good enough in the league, but rashness solves nothing. We won't make the play-offs now, if we do I'll wrestle a goat, so we might as well concentrate on the cups.

 

Big week coming, and I'm privileged to be at both games. Let's see whether the Saints "B" team can do better than the current Saints "A" team.

This season should have been fun.

 

Spent millions but seriously under-performed.

 

11 wins in 28 is not good enough for a L1 side with so much quality.

When were the play offs ever on the agenda for this season.

When the new team took over a five year plan was put in place.This is year one which is all about rebuilding a club that was fractured to its foundations by a fool and his cronies.

I am glad that we still have a club to support and enjoy getting to every game that i can.

If we dont win the league or make the plays offs next season then questions have to be asked but not now.

maybe, yeah, but everything was always up in the air this year.

 

i'm not too fussed on missing out of the playoffs this year, all things considered, anything but a top 2 finish next year would be shocking though.

There's already 'Pardew needs to start earning his cash' thread and 'This is not a Pardew out thread but...' threads going. Why do you feel the need to make another thread informing everyone that things haven't been all that stellar recently? Like people can't see that for themselves, or you're not already shoving down their throats in other threads.

 

I mean seriously, I wasn't on this forum when we went into Administration but if this is how you feel now I'd hate to imagine what you were like then. I'm surprised you're both still alive.

Some of you are placing too much stock by the publicly avowed 5yr plan, I think.

 

How do we know NC and ML did not sanction what was a bumper January transfer activity in the belief that playoffs were possible this season ?

 

And since when has EVERY detail of such long term planning been cast in stone ? It is perfectly sensible business practice to have periodic reviews as you go along.

We have just drawn at a place where Leeds lost a couple of weeks ago.

We won on a miserable Tuesday night in Hartlepool where Leeds drew today.

He's assembling a squad of players to play the way he wants to, all thats gonna happen if a new manager comes in is next season will be exactly like this one, a team that hasnt gelled at all.

 

If we're 12th in League 1 in 12 months time, then that's an issue. But we won't be.

I'm sure you preferred last season, under Lowe culminating in us on -10. Me I have really enjoyed this season, great to see football being played again. Not all results have gone our way, but when did money GUARENTEE success?

 

People like you, who are NEVER satisfied, will troll these forums til the cows come home. We are where we are, because of the results we have had, and that started on DAY 1 of the season, not january 1st. If we survived relegation this season and finished nicely in mid table, I'd have taken that in a heartbeat.

 

Name me ONE club that has been promoted after relegation and -10 points? Go on, name me ONE. Or are you saying that Saints are soooo awesome and unbeatable that we desrerve a bye into the CCC?

 

Get off your trolling keyboard and make some supper. An away point, I'll take that. But then you Lowe luvvies never could accept Saints doing well under anybody else. Troll on...

Glasgow,Alps , Dell Days, your comments always disappoint me!

For me, Im just enjoying supporting my team again. Thers always things that happen that shouldnt- ie drawing or losing to 'lesser' teams, but thats football.This club reached rock bottom last june, now we're on the up but no matter what you think it aint gonna happen overnight.To talk of managerial changes is sheer nonsense - you guys should wake up and smell the coffee , we have to fight to get out of this league so get behind the team and manager or get on your bikes!!!

If on average we draw away from home and win away from home all season (2 point per game), this will get you into the top 3/4 at the end of the season and could get automatic promotion. This is what we are GENERALLY doing at the moment - unfortunately due to the -10 and poor start it's not looking like we're going to be in the mix this season. At least we have a club to support, a fantastic owner and chairman, a proven manager, a possible Wembley trip and a bright future. Things are the best they've been for many years - 1 point at Exeter does not ruin any of that.

Spot on. Seriously, Glasgow and Alpine, get real.

 

Some people in life are never happy and always want more. That's you two.

 

It's great to be ambitious and optimistic but you two are boardering on the ridiculous - Alpine, you say you want Boothroyd or Billy Davies in, both are at clubs who are higher in the league than us so cmon.

 

Plus Pardew took us over when we had a messed up team full of wasters and fringe players - this was always a rebuilding season and the fact that he has got us to the position where we are on the brink of going to Wembley and facing a 5th Round FA Cup tie against the Skates I think is great.

 

Our league form was always going to have to be outstanding to have a playoff chance, -10 and virtually no pre-season was always putting us way behind all the others.

 

The re-building is well underway and next season should see us aiming to be champions, especially with the likes of Leeds and Norwich out the way. That will be the time to judge Pardew, in my opinion.

Play offs are definitely out the question now, down to the fact we draw too many games recently and i think the loss of Hammond is a big factor!!

 

Even without the points deduction we wouldn't be in the play offs.

 

Maybe its a case of too many new players trying to gel or we simply aren't as good as we think we are.

 

Nevertheless, if we can get as near to the play offs as we can, win the JPT and get to the quarters of the cup, surely that is a good season?

 

If we don't make the play offs, we will get promoted next year!!

I stopped believing we would make the play-offs when we lost to Colchester. But that doesn't mean we can just accept losing and drawing in the league does it?. Compared to the other teams in the league we have spent much more. When you spend money it brings high expectations with it. Even if we took away the -10 we would still wouldn't make the play-offs. So that is why some people are ****ed.

 

I'm not suggesting to sack Pardew but we could be performing better in the league. I'm delighted with the progress we have made in the cups. But what if we get knocked out by Mk and Pompey next week?.
