The derby is important because...

In true school fashion, in no more than 50 words describe why it is important that Saints win the derbyto tomorrow.

Let's convey the spirit of the saints to AP, ML, NC and the players should by some freak of nature they somehow don't know exactly what it means and fall across this site....

... because its in your blood as a Saints supporter. Rivalry with the skates is part of you, the same as worshipping Matty. Its the most important fixture in our calender because the result will be talked about for years. Look at the way we shove the 1984 game down their throats at every opportunity - and they hate it. Good!

Because this could vey well be the last game for the skates, so what better last image to give the blue few than 28000 red and White fans celebrating a saints victory at the end. They then would have to live with that for ever as their last moment in football

Such an excellent scenario. Want us to beat them and then see them liquidated and wiped from the face of the Earth. Also think it would be great to see a large poopey flag being burnt in the centre circle after the game.

We have had intense rivalry with the port of Portsmouth for 600 years and this derby generates passion, pathos, and poison that you simply do not see outside of Celtic v Rangers - the new players, the new management team and the new board need to experience this. This game is live on national television and gives us the chance to show the country our resurgence! COYR!

Because Portsmouth are a scummy shítty no mark club with crap fans and it is good to show them which part of Hampshire is better. And as a Southampton lad there is nothing better than getting one over the bastards down the road.

+ 1 Couldn't have put it better my self!!

COME ON YOU REDDDDDDDDSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Cos if they d1ck on us (which I think they will) and then go out of business, we still go through. What a hilariously hollow and impotent act that would be.

not true, if we lose and then they go bust it will be the team they draw in the next round that goes through

The derby is not important at all, it is meaningless, irrelevent and without worth or merit. This is not my opinion just something I have been indoctrinated with over the past few months with everyone hoping with glee and hatred that they go out of business.

No more derby matches is what we wish for ergo they are not important.

...it's seems the last result always seems to be the last word when trying to have a discussion with a Skate. Getting sick of hearing nothing but that of the 4-1 defeat of our last game with them.

Would be great to get shot of that, especially if they are beaten by League 1 Southampton tomorrow. I can put up with most of the other bull****... we've held the cup the longest... blah, blah, blah... 7 years... blah, blah, blah. Yawn!

The last result usually has the last word, and as long as we can have the last word after each Derby that's enough to keep me happy until the next one comes along. :D
