Guided Missile Posted 23 February, 2010 Share Posted 23 February, 2010 Just had an interesting chat with a corporate sales executive at Wembley. They are selling advertising space in the Wembley program to corporate sponsors. He told me that Saints have just applied for an extra allocation of tickets, taking our total to 55,000! Carlisle have sold 17,000 and he expects them to sell 20-25,000 in total. Told me they were a little disappointed that Leeds didn't get through, as he thought that they would have sold Wembley out and tickets would have been tougher to get. 55,000 fans? WTF... northam soul Posted 23 February, 2010 Share Posted 23 February, 2010 I know this game is going to be popular but like all these things we seem to get the initial mayhem and then it all quietens down after that with tickets still going begging at the last possible moment. I would be surprised if we did actually sell the 44k when it comes to it never mind another load.
Saint_clark Posted 23 February, 2010 Share Posted 23 February, 2010 Didn't the FA already say that we weren't allowed any more than 44k as it's impossible to segregate a larger allocation than that?

First class journalism, no doubt. (No offence Dan).
Johnny Shearer Posted 23 February, 2010 Share Posted 23 February, 2010 I think we'll sell the 44k tickets. End of the day, its a day/weekend out in London for many and a chance to go to Wembley (for the first time in years and after all the rubbish we have suffered from since being relegated from the Premier League) with the family. IF that is true, and we get the go ahead to have 55k then once the season ticket holder week is out the way I think they should just open up sales to all, and let people buy from the club ticket office in person as well. Loads would make arrangements to go up with mates / family who dont go that often, would be great to have the biggest ever club support at Wembley. That would give us the best chance of selling them all.
This Charming Man Posted 23 February, 2010 Share Posted 23 February, 2010 The quote from the echo was the Football League rather than FA, who merely own Wembley and no doubt would sell more tickets in a heartbeat. Exactly, The FA would do anything possible to flog more tickets if they could. I also fail to see how they couldn't segregate it properly? The concourse has metal gates that can be closed all round the stadium, meaning it can be segregated virtually anywhere and for the seats, the netting just needs to be moved along. Personlly, I think we will only just sell out as it is.

That's what I was thinking. These are the same people who use Wembley for the semi-finals of the FA cup now, they would not turn down the chance of some extra money. Toomer Posted 23 February, 2010 Share Posted 23 February, 2010 Segragation has been metioned, if we sell the 44k we have and ask for another 10k, IMO Wembley Stadium Ltd would find a way to segragate the fans rather than have the seats empty. This Charming Man Posted 23 February, 2010 Share Posted 23 February, 2010 Just thought, we have half the stadium as it is, so do Carlisle, though only certain sections are on sale to them. If they have sold tickets in the blocks next to the segregation, I doubt very much we'd be able to have more tickets.

If they have sold tickets in the blocks next to the segregation, I doubt very much we'd be able to have more tickets. I read somewhere they're selling from behind the goal outwards which would make extra tickets possible. Millwall had 44,159 fans at last season's Play-Off Final out of a crowd of 59.661 including (approx) 9,300 S****horpe and 6,200 neutrals. Looks like 44k is a possible max allocation. There was a stink last year because Luton sold their half, Scvnthorpe only took 15-20k and because Scunny ignored the directives on selling the tickets in blocks their fans were all over their end, removing the possibility of Luton fans gaining extra blocks over the half way line.
