For me it's not just that we are having a great season (playoffs or not). It's the fact that we have such a great future ahead of us. We are on the verge of bouncing back better and bigger than we have ever been before. This is a very exciting time to be a Saint.

Can I just say that. Up or not. I can't remember better - apart from maybe '82 or '84.

I love being a Saints fan again, just bloody love it.

You are truly the King of the Happy Clappers! ;) I will never forgot my favourite post of yours, after we beat Reading last season, berating people for saying survival was the only goal for the season and that we should still try for the playoffs! :D

so easy to support a big club if your a kid nowdays but look what they miss out on.true loyalty, true friendship and true love for a club that will never die through good and bad.weve just gone through probably the worst period in our history but look to the future and f**k me doesnt it look fantastic.this has imo been the best season since 2003 and so looking forward to next and promotion.coyr

It has been a great season in The Third Division South, two games a week to get excited about, £20 or so for a ticket, big away crowds, pay on the gate, better media coverage for this level than before, some big clubs fighting it out. Saints top scorer, AP building a good side, excellent home attendances (we had the third highest attendance in the country a few Saturdays back), cup run and game against the blue few, JPT win, great win ratio home and away, coming back for being behind and of course our glorious new owner.

I was playing five aside the other night and amongst the fans of the usual clubs, there was a Leeds and Charlton fan, and the talk after the match with everyone joining was who was going up from Div 1. Its a great contest this year and I'm looking forward to the next few weeks.

So if a successful season is measured by the enjoyment it brings this one is definitely successful in my book.

1977/78, 2002/03, 2006/07 ?

I never got overjoyed about 2003 for the simple reason that we often ground out the dullest 1-0 victories. And the Cup Final was a bit of an anti-climax.

As for our 'play-off' season, that drove me bloody crackers because we had all the consistency of jelly and we lost a penalty shoot-out which was sooo Burley... a nearly man.

This season I have seen us win two penalty shoot-outs and lift a trophy at Wembley - score 5 goals three times and generally play attacking football with the aim of winning.

Maybe it's me age.

(Oh and in '77 I was 7 so don't remember much but my oversize Saints shirt!)

I have to agree, funny enough I have just had a visit from a former business associate from the UK, he is a West Brom fan and of course I congratulated him on their return to the Premiership; However, and we both agreed on this, him and his fellow supporters feel quite torn; in that what is best; a great season in the championship or the grief and despair of trying to hang onto premiership status, he even went on to say that promotion this time around did not generate anything like the excitement it did in the past; due to the yo, yo seasons they have had the last three or four seasons, I have to say this does concern me as well.

Whilst I have every confidence in winning the league one title next season and probably reaching the play off's the following season in the championship, when we get back to the premiership will it be a season of nail biting and frustration due to the cheque book football amongst the top 6-8 clubs.

LGTC

The 03 season was far more of an achievement than this season

I wouldn't disagree my friend but this year has been more plesurable for me. Going to real grounds mixing with real fans having our play and players admired. No prima donnas, no shop-shutting backs to the wall desperation, no boring draws - Wycombe aside - and the genuine belief we can win any game. Plus getting into most games for £20 and watching our young lads come of age alongside some genuine quality performers.

I've loved this season, going to SMS as regularly as possible, something I will continue to do forever more. (Costing me a mint).

I actually enjoyed the season 94/95 we had under Alan Ball, MLT's best season IMO.

Agree with op what a season I am loving it.

Away days like Orient, Bristol, Southend, MK Dons brilliant after the away days of last season how good is it to see us win away.

Home games Walsall, Hudders, Skates, MK Dons we have played well at St Marys this season in most games.

Wembley what a day fantastic to see the Saints win a trophy fantastic day out.

We have a very good attacking side how good is it to see Lallana, Spiderman, Lambo, Puncheon ripping into teams and playing nice football ?

AP is doing a top job and I am enjoying the ride UTS
