bender Posted 20 May, 2010 Share Posted 20 May, 2010 Given their cr*p performance in the play off semi's, is anyone else slightly annoyed that they wasted their play off spot. If they had experienced that same form in the final 6/7 games of the regular season, we would have been in the play offs and done far better. Arizona Posted 20 May, 2010 Share Posted 20 May, 2010 Really don't give a crap. Just hoping Millwall win the final. They are a strong team and I'll be pleased to see the back of them. Swindon I feel will be a bit of a one hit wonder and we will muller them next year. Could be wrong, just a feeling, but I reckon they overperformed this year. Plus it's a local game for me. Millwall probably banked on them being an easier option than ourselves, which is why they let them win at a canter in April. Most of us thought they'd give Huddersfield a good beating on that fateful Friday night but Millwall didn't turn up...wonder why.

wild-saint Posted 20 May, 2010 Share Posted 20 May, 2010 Not really bothered to be honest. The season lasts 46 games and we fell short. We didnt actually fall short on a point for point basis. The FACT ammassed enough points to make the play offs and huddersfield didnt. The rules were bent to suit the football league at the end of last season and as a result we have suffered. equalizer Posted 20 May, 2010 Share Posted 20 May, 2010 Also hoping to see Millwall win as would prefer them out of this division, also good to see Adie Boothroyd is leaving Colchester to go to Coventry, so hopefully we will take more than a point off them next season! saintsub Posted 20 May, 2010 Share Posted 20 May, 2010 A bit harsh to say Huddersfield wasted a spot in the play offs - it is about a whole season. I thought Swindon when they came to us played good football and impressed me the most of all the teams I have seen at SMS this season.....goood luck to them but I would be gald to see them back in L1 so we can have another crack at them next season. What a load of rubbish, they finished where they did because they deserved it. We only have ourselves to blame for a terrible start to the season, leaving just that bit to much to do at the end. Don't bother mentioning the -10 points, we knew what we were starting on, so get over it.

Not really, rules are rules, we went into admin, so we should have been docked 10 points, it's fair enough, and it should happen to any team that goes down that route. We threw some silly points away, thats why we didn't make it, we could have, but didn't. End of. sperm_john Posted 20 May, 2010 Share Posted 20 May, 2010 I think Swindon have the rub of the green and the momentum, after going through on pen's like that they have to be thinking they have the will of the God's and I think they will go through. To be honest Millwall and Swindon both have the capacity to be a thorn in our side next year so not really bothered who go's up, and its sort of irrelevant anyway, we have to ahve the mentality that we are going to win every game, we will only get automatic promotion if we manage to get that mentality next season and see it through ... Which knowing saints I'm not sure we will, so I'm thinking we will get automatiuc promotion but in 2nd spot lol
The9 Posted 21 May, 2010 Share Posted 21 May, 2010 my theory is that we ruined them with the 5-0 reaming. Just saying.... Your theory is gubbins, considering that once they'd lost to Gillingham (who also beat us at their ground) and Norwich in their next two games, they won 3 of the next 4, and 4 of the next 5 after that : Football League One Southampton 5-0 Huddersfield 02-03-2010 Football League One Gillingham 2-0 Huddersfield 06-03-2010 Football League One Huddersfield 1-3 Norwich 13-03-2010 Football League One Leyton Orient 0-2 Huddersfield 20-03-2010 Football League One Huddersfield 1-1 Charlton 27-03-2010 Football League One Wycombe 1-2 Huddersfield 03-04-2010 Football League One Huddersfield 2-0 Oldham 06-04-2010 Football League One Brentford 3-0 Huddersfield 10-04-2010 Football League One Huddersfield 4-3 Walsall 13-04-2010 Football League One Huddersfield 1-0 Millwall 16-04-2010 Football League One Stockport 0-6 Huddersfield 24-04-2010 Football League One Huddersfield 2-1 Colchester 01-05-2010 Football League One Exeter 2-1 Huddersfield 08-05-2010 League One Play-Off Huddersfield 0-0 Millwall 15-05-2010 League One Play-Off Millwall 2-0 Huddersfield 18-05-2010
CB Fry Posted 21 May, 2010 Share Posted 21 May, 2010 What is easy to forget in the battle for the playoffs is getting there is really not an achievement, because the whole point is getting promoted. You can't slate a team for "wasting a play off spot" because three always will and Huddersfield finished sixth so the most likely to "waste" it. We knew what we had to do, we fell short but not through lack of effort. And we'll be playing Huddersfield next season, and Huddersfield will be playing us. At the 90 minute point of that game we were in touching distance of the play offs then they scored 2 in injury time which gave them a platform. St.Jeweller Posted 21 May, 2010 Share Posted 21 May, 2010 i was really pleased to see them falter because my theory was that if they had got to the finals and even won the play-offs then they would only have ever been there because of our 10 point deduction therefor making a false reading on the championhip next season, well done millwall.
