The £3 Booking Tax

Is this per ticket or per order, and does it apply to away games aswell? I knew the club were lieing about the booking fee for the JPT final and sure enough they've rolled it out for next season. If Cortese is charging £25 - £28 for third division football I dread to think what he'll be wanting to charge should we get back to the premiership.

price of wanting a CCC squad in league 1 and non promotion

oh well, at least we have a club to support

Booking fee is per booking, not per ticket.

And being as we were paying £35 for a ticket when we were in the Prem 5 years ago, I don't think the price is over the top.

Then again, I live close enough to the club that the booking fee is not an issue as I can just pick up tickets from the club. I don't agree with it though.

Well i'm not going to go out of my way to travel down to St Marys now, although I bet the C**ts add the booking tax onto away tickets too.

Stop trolling, i'm pretty ******ed off about this. Football isn't football anymore, it's just a big rip off.

last season was false economy....it really was, whilst so many others were happy we had a club to support and were not that bothered about not going up

Not being funny but SFC do realise there is still a recession in this country dont they ?

I too am less than impressed by the Club suggesting the booking fee for the JPT was out of their hands, they must have realised then it wasn't popular, and to find out they are planning to do it this season for all games - ok cup games if you are a Season Ticket Holder - is a bit much IMHO.

Wonder if the great attendances for early cup games will suffer cos of this ?

Yeah this whole booking fee thing really is a bit of an unnecessary add-on. I mean they say they are adding £2 onto matchday tickets to cut down on people buying on the day but then they say oh we are going to charge £3 to book via phone or online! What's the deal there?! Or have I just got it wrong? Cba to read the stupid OS again, got annoyed reading the article first time around.

If Cortese thinks he can rip us off in this divsion you can only imagine how he'd love to rip us off in the CCC and the Premier League. I want us to go up, but at least now if we stay down it'll be nice to think of Cortese being gutted he can't move onto the next phase of his pricing strategy.

I really hope its not on away tickets as well, anyone confirm this.

It will be. They cashed in on the JPT final so it's obvious they're going to cash in on every ticket sold over the phone or online.

G's! £3 is nothing....less than a pint (in most bars)

Next season we will have a great team, great stadium, great manager, great kit, great catering and loads more great stuff.

£3 is not worth getting upset about.

And less fans possibly

Cortese is an Italian version of Ken Bates. It's clear he doesn't give a **** about the fans and is working on the principle that if the team is winning the peasants will pay up. This strategy if fine when all's going well, but it works both ways and when the team isn't winning the seats don't sell. Just look at Leeds and their 20,000 gates during the bad times. If Leeds gates can drop to 20,000 because of rip off prices/bad results our level under these circumstances must be 15,000.

you go to a games and see saints get humped 5-0....or 3-1 at home to brighton..did the club give the money back then..?

No but there was no booking fee then was there?

You were suggesting the £3 would ensure us being Champions

Don't bother asking him, he's like Glasgow Saint and hardly goes to any games anyway. None of these measures affect him to any significant degree.

6 home games and 2 away (incl JPT final) last season!

How many who live over 450 miles away can compete with that?

If I remember, I was only charged a booking fee if I paid by credit card. If I used a debit card, there was no charge. Is this still the case?

That was the case, yes.

I assume the £3 transaction fee applies regardless of the type of card used now.

A lot of away grounds sell tickets at a discount in advance, but with the booking tax added on it'll be cheaper to pay on the day. For Southern/London games you may need to pay the booking tax, but for midlands/northern games i'd imagine 90% of the time paying on the day won't be an issue. I can see Cortese's stealth tax reducing our away following.

The business model of countless modern commercial organizations is to encourage the public to buy their products or services via the internet as this is inherently cheaper than employing (expensive) human beings to process orders . SFC however now proposes to charge us £3 more for using the on-line booking service as opposed to just walking up to the ticket office in person .

I defy anyone to argue that this is not an example blatant profiteering from our club and while I understand the importance of the profit motive in the capitalist system , please don't ask me to like it .

As ever we'll just have to 'bend over and take it' in the time honored manner , but the club have sacrificed a hell of a lot of good will today .

To me the £3 booking fee is a bit wrong. I doubt it will reduce matchday q's. But to be fair, over the years postage was always free. Maybe an extra £1 charge for postage/admin would be more fair. It will only get more expensive from now though that's the annoying thing. Will be as bad as ticketmaster soon!!

the £3 booking fee ****es me off and as a non Southampton resident that goes to most away games this will be (if it applies to away games) just another £60 odd quid to add to my costs. Peanuts compared with my petrol costs, but nevertheless another cost.

very true, its perfectly possible that we will have a ****e start to the season....and then what

Why do you keep harping on about that...there will be no need to pay that.

At a home games walk to the window and buy it then......you must be related to that troll Chester Perry.

This is not trolling. I'm ******-ed off about it. I don't live locally so all my purchases are done over the phone so from now on if I buy home or away tickets i've got to add the £3 ticket tax onto the cost every time. It's another expense and it's a rip off.

No you dont - away tickets are sold normally 2 weeks in advance - you buy your first home ticket on matchdays saving a £1.

At the first home game you go to buy them in advance you can normally buy several matches ahead for home games - not £3 a time.

All that takes is planning.

How many games home or away sold out???

That's fine for people who can make it to St Marys regularly, but for those who can't, but can make more local away games, it doesn't help.

You can normally buy them at the away ground as well that wont cost you £3 extra.

You will have to find yourself a penpal or adopt someone in Southampton that can buy and post them to you.
