I'm going :-) Staying with my brother in Streatham, so it's a short train journey from there.

Looking forward to it, especially now it seems the 1st team will be playing.

Also going to the Barnet game on Tuesday, but drinking with Barnet fans beforehand as I'm meeting up with a mate who's supports them that day.

(By the way - I paid the 5 quid to renew my membership on Saintsweb, but I have been downgraded to a Registered User all the same :-/ Sent Saintsweb an email on Monday but no reply yet. Any idea what I should do to be put back to a Full Member again?)

Think i will take my kids and sister for a little drive down the road to Sutton to see the new team first time this season. Will be interested to see Butterfield and Dickson (if playing) and I always take great interest in A Trialist. Usually plays quite well whenever i've seen him so will look out for him too! Will prob be behind the goals and will post my version of what happened there the same day...

Oops: i mean what happens on the pitch not what happens behind the goals...i doubt " spilled ice cream on shirt of son in clapping accident"...."squashed licorice allsort into backseat of trousers" and "daughter cried when got finger jammed in folding chair mechanism" will be of interest in my match report...

My Ferrero Rocher went down very well at Wembley but im not certain they will be necessary for this fixture. Ideally the FR can be brought on whenever the higher level skills and services of the Southampton Diplomats are required. I do not anticipate a need for them at Gander Lane however, as im sure there will be enough saints embassy and consulate staff there to keep matters as they should be.

PMSL I remember your efforts to get the cards done at Heathrow. Hope to see you at the match mate.

paint the kitchen - watch the saints - paint the kitchen - watch the saints - paint the kitchen - watch the saints -

up the road In Brixton so there really should be no excuse but I know splashing the paint about will stand me in good stead with 'er indoors for more important weekends once the season starts

Saints Vs Sutton: Davis. Butterfield, Fonte, Jaidi, Harding. Schneiderlin, Holmes, Dickson, Hammond, Oxlade-Chamberlain. Lambert

Line up 4-5-1. Dickson on left of midfield, Holmes and Schneiderlin in middle, Chambo on right with Hammond just behind Lambert

Subs: Mills, Wotton, McNish, Doble, Martin, Bialkowski, Barnard, Reeves

that's a bit different...

With Puncheon and Lallana to come in I like the Formation

It seems to me that Pardew is beginning to favour the 4-5-1 formation again with possibly switching to 4-4-2 late on in games like we did at the start of last season

My team for the start of the season would therefore be:

-----------------Davis------------------

-Butterfield----Jaidi----Fonte----Harding-

-----Schneiderlin---Hammond-----------

-Puncheon----Lallana----Dickson/Holmes-

---------------Lambert------------------

But going on todays team, it seems strong but not too sure about the way Holmes and Hammond are positioned? Surely they would be better the other way round, Hammond with Schneiderlin and Holmes behind Lambert? But, CM might suit Holmes more because less sprinting and therefore less injuries ;)

No Connolly in the squad ... after sounding super fit on the tour, from reports on here didn't seem at the races in the friendlies he's been involved in since they got back. Looking ominous which woulsd be a major shame as he is probably the most gifted of our players.

Are we winning yet?

I saw him at Farnboro the other night looked fit and played with commitment went off with 10 mins to go but I dont understand where Barnard/ Connolly fit in a 4 5 1

I always believe the most important part of a team is the centre pieces, just like a chess board.

I have always dominated with my rooks and queen on standby and at the moment IMHO we need to sort ours out with decent backups and not makeshifts like Dickson & Holmes.

Rather not have a dominatrix queen running our midfield thanks :scared:

But yeh we seem to reverting to the old square pegs in round holes game. No harm in trying different formations out in these friendlies but they do show a bit of a weakness outside the starting XI.

Sounds like a great warm up!

Rather worried that we still have no Adam starting, Puncheon injured and now Dickson! Let's hope they can be fit for the Plymouth game!

I guess the new "sash" is going to gain some credit for todays start...Davis didn't recognise his own player - Jaidi!

According to some it does not matter if we lose in Pre Season as long as we are fit

but no Puncheon Lallana Dickson and Richardson

indeed...maybe alps was right about the "getting the players in early"....no matter what, there is no excuses this season..
