"There is something rotten in the State of Denmark ...."

And I think that rings true for what is going on at St Mary's, behind the scenes

OK Leibherr/Cortese do not communicate with us FANS like most Football Clubs do, but, from the outside, they do appear to be alienating the very people that bring in the money that enables them to run "The Business"

The withdrawel of staggered payments for season tickets at virtually a minutes notice, a Press ban, an obvious cut back on purchase of new players, the withdrawel of the Supporters Charter, are just but a few measures that have not gone down with us SUPPORTERSp

Even an Amoeba could work out that things are NOT right behind the scenes. IMHO, Cortese does NOT get on well with Pardew, who, in my estimation, has proved that he is tactically not capable of taking Saints to the promised land

Cortese wanted promotion last season, and it should have been achieved, Although last Saturday was only the first home match, it showed quite clearly, that once Saints go behind, Pardew's tactics are non existant, and hoofing the ball up in the air against a mass defence over over six footers is NOT going to get us anywhere, yet that is how HIS players play

Crying wolf about injury's does not work in my book. It is how he instructs the Team how to play that is the telling factor. It is much easier if Saints score first, of course it is, but it is when we don't that the test of a Manager's real calibre comes to the fore, and in that, IMHO, Pardew is sadly lacking

I honestly do not think Pardew will be around for much longer. Cortese is an impatient man, who only has time for success.

If he waits too long, the season will be lost

However, no comment re my post ??

You are happy with the way we played against Plymouth in the second half ??

You like aimless kicking the ball up in the air against loads of defenders ??

Some people are easily pleased

I agree with your second to last sentence.

After all, NC after attracting so much investment to save the club is right to expect success regardless of his own personal characteristics.

The fact it took Cortese so long to back Pardew last season was very odd imo. That said I don't think AP is as good a manager as you and others think. We seem to have one way of playing (plan a) and if that doesn't work that's that. Breaking down teams that put 11 men behind the ball is always tricky, but this is the hand we're going to be dealt most games and we just aren't good enough at doing it.

FFS I thought that I was a miserable old git! How many more threads do we need on this subject??? Yes, communication has been bad or non-existant in most cases, and yes some decisions that have been taken have been unpopular and even mystifying. Is there "an obvious cut back on purchase of new players"?? I don`t see it. We have signed, what, three new players so far? We have held on to our best ones. We did all of our best business last year well after the start of the season. Be patient. As far as I `am aware we have only played one game so far this season (when we played very well for 45 mins) and yet the wrist-slitting has started already.

I am sick to death of the posters who post their opinions as fact and who seem to want just "Wallow in their own crapulence" (Thank You Mr Burns) and hope that things go badly so that they can all say "I told you so. You wouldn`t listen to me, would you!"

They had about 1 attack, they scored a goal on a mistake.

We dominated and dominated, we lacked a big man upfront, i accept AP should have sorted this early but if we end up getting a quality player to compliment the squad other than a 'he will do' replacement everyone will shut up about it.

It is one game, the first of the season, with our two best players out injured.

As for NC, the media ban excluded (as its f*cking crazy IMO) has not done much wrong, just a few little issues that has many crying like little girls.

Now, is all this really worth you p*ssing your pants over ? And does this thread actually bring anything else to the table seeing we already have a match thread, and 27k anti-NC threads ??

Do get a grip.

I mentioned in the summer that i feared that the over expectation of the fans could re-rail us in our promotion push. I had not factored in a portion of fans who were going to try and destabilise the club as they didn't like the way it was run/ or had been shunned in some way.

What actual "realistic" facts are contained in this post. It is virtually all conjecture and your opinion. Neither you or I no exactly what is going on behind the scenes. I never said that I was happy or unhappy with the way thing are being run, but in keeping with the rest of your post, you have assumed that I am happy so it must be true. The one thing that is true, is that if Saints are successful this season, nobody will give any of this "stuff" a second thought. If we are not successful, then people will use these things against those running the club.

I was as dogged off as everyone after losing the first game. But can we please lay off Cortese for a while. People have short memories. So he might have made a few mistakes but as far as I can tell we are a lot better off than when he walked through the door, and if he and Markus walked back out of it we would be a lot worse off. Lay the **** off him.

Something is rotten in the state of Switzerland more like! And something is rotten at the club of southampton. And somethign is rotten in the mind of Cortese. The man is single handedly (almost) trying to destroy the reputation of the club through his crazy decisions. I agree with everything that the OP says, apart from the bit where he says NC doesn't like/get on with AP. I think they're working together in order to bring Saints to our knees. Cortese is destabilising the club through media policy, booking fees and removal of payment plans, whilst Pardew refues to tell the players to win games and insists that they stick the the same plan, even when it's not working. I'll probably be dismissed for this theory, but I am beginning to think that ML is a Portsmouth fan who is laughing at us as he and his cronies slowly destroy our club. Still, no-one will listen to me. Hey-ho. I'm off to finish building my anderson shelter and stock up on pulses.

As you said, one mustake by us cost a goal ... which was enough to win the Match

We "dominated and dominated" Yes, but we did not capitalise on it did we ?? We did not know how to break them down

Players out injured etc etc .... All you are doing is using excuses to cover up the fact that the Team, Pardew's Team reverted to aimless hoofing the ball up in the air

THAT is not good enough, though you are apparently satisfied with everything

This "Its only one game FFS" comment is get oh-so worn out.

We spent 2 MONTHS getting ready for this game, and were supposed to have prepared in such a manner as to hit the ground running.

We were toothless up front, and demonstrated a complete lack of cover for RLs injury. We are clearly a one-man or two-man team.

We had no Plan B for after we went behind.

The team is in trouble; I wish people would look beyond the pretty but ineffectual stuff of the first half...

So we continually have to concentrate on the negative and disregard any positives? How many of peoples "favourites to go up" had bad results on Saturday? Quite a few.

Despite what you say, it IS only one game - the first game of the season, when you always get "strange" results that do not reflect what is going to happen for the rest of the campaign. Are you suggesting that if we had won the game we would all be sat back with our feet up saying "this is going to be a doddle"?

Nope, this has always looked like a long, hard slog of a season to me.

Saturday's result has made it look a lot harder though.

Its raised serious questions about our transfer policy, squad depth and our lack of tactial nous.

Well I think most people would consider the statement "the team is in trouble" after one game to be extremely OTT. I am very disappointed about the result, but equally I recognise that it could be completely different in the next game. We have had one game of 90 minutes, half of which we dominated and half of which we didn't do well in. To say the team is in trouble after that is foolish IMO.

With the exception of future ones, yes of course

One match does not make a season I agree

But you can see the way things are heading

Pardew cannot/does not know how to change tactics during a match, to turn things around

And, it is now painfully obvious that he is NOT going to get funds to add to the squad
