dune Posted 11 November, 2010 Share Posted 11 November, 2010 Even from the Midlands it's too far for me, so fair play to those who are going.

Is a bit far! 3.5 hours there, 3 back for me last year. And no, on the return I didn't 'hang about.'

I can't see what pleasure you'd get from 6 hours plus on a motorway, but each to his own. It's not so much the poodle up, but the long drive back that does my head in. There have been times when i've litterally had to open the windows to stay awake coming home from games.

It was as much the desire to try the furthest away trip as much as anything! But yeah, was a bit gruelling. Plymouth is the furthest for me now though...... As you said Dune, complete respect for all those doing the 10 hour round trip from Southampton.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 11 November, 2010 Share Posted 11 November, 2010 Long old trip last season, did Hartlepool as well, that's a lot of hours sat on a motorway. Luckily I wasn't driving... Giving it a miss this year but fair play to those going up again, let's hope for 3 points this season, not just the 1.

dannysfc Posted 11 November, 2010 Share Posted 11 November, 2010 I will be making the trip up to Carlisle either Tomorrow or Early Saturday Morning and am going by Train this time as I went by Travel Club last season and will get the train to Euston and then a direct train to Carlisle and will look up Hotels and that sooo I can find somewhere to stay as well ! Will then leave Early Sunday Morning and either go back to Euston and then on to Southampton or go via Birmingham and have checked the trains and found that there are Big Engineering Works this coming weekend which is annoying But it's all part of the fun and being a Die Hard Saints Fan like Me! Dr Who? Posted 11 November, 2010 Share Posted 11 November, 2010 If it continues raining the way it is could get called off. Terrible weather up there at the moment. Been pouring with rain all day!!
ladysaint Posted 11 November, 2010 Share Posted 11 November, 2010 Didnt think about the weather to be honest but didnt carlisle's pitch get flooded a few years back, wasnt it the one where they found fishing swimming on the pitch? Remember going to Newcastle a few years back, actually got to newcastle and parked up only to hear that the game was called off about 10 mins after we arrived dont fancy going through that scenario again. dickyhale Posted 11 November, 2010 Share Posted 11 November, 2010 We did it last year but cant make it this year. Christ that M6 is a boring drive sheep and hills. Parked near the ground behind some office for £3.00. Good luck to all those that do it this year and last year I was sat at the front and got a player shirt when they throw them to the fans so it may pay to sit near the front
