Saints won't sign anyone ...

before Monday.... at the earliest. ...so don't hold your breath!

ITK?.... no I'm not... but logic says it'll be madness to announce signings before an FA Cup tie against a Premiership side. Too unsettling for players " in the risk zone " i.e. those in positions likely to be under threat, so it won't happen YET.

I'm pretty sure that NC's... "softly, softly" behind the scenes transfer deals will pay off LATER but it would be very harmful to team morale to introduce new names so soon.

We still don't know with any certainty who is on NA's " wish list ", but except for the delay with Guly's wife's passport still pending, I think we could be in for some real shocks ! ..maybe some one not even mentioned yet !

Conversely it could be the best time to announce a signing, before an FA Cup game that doesn't affect our promotion bid, give those "in the risk zone" the chance to go out and show the manager what they can do. Anyway there is no-one really "in the risk zone", the team we have is already good enough to win the League, what we will be bringing in is players to strengthen the squad to cover for injuries/suspensions and to be be available at the next level. Competition for places is what its all about, competition for Rickie, long term replacement for Jaidi and backup for AOC assuming Punch departs.

I don't go along with this idea. If a player is upset because we have brought in a better player for his position so what. Get over it and improve or do the other thing and go elsewhere.

We are trying to improve the squad so why should we worry about upsetting one or two players that aren't what Nigel wants.

It is incredibly dull at the moment. this gave me a glimmer of something interesting.

It's a gag so good it could have been taken from the official saints site David (you don't do that in your spare time). The latest one about January saints player got a groan from me in the same manner this thread did.

Shhh...& appreciate the irony contained within your statement!

I like knowing things when they're a done deal...it's how professionally run clubs work.

Hmm. Irony - the most misused word in the English language.

Ironic, eh?

Or, to put it another way, ironic, eH?

tbf opthomps ..I get just as bored reading other peoples rumours that it seemed easier to put my thoughts into print.

...and I cottoned on those "carrots " about Saints Player some months ago. There are only so many combinations of word play you can use in that situation.

I don't think we have too many players that NA doesn't want. Do we ?

Fairly obviously those out on loan will face a hard time to come back..but the idea is surely to get extra cover for the existing

squad. According to reports I've read nearly all the present squad have got VG / good reviews in recent games, but we need a lot of cover for potential injuries, suspensions, loss of form, for a season that isn't half over yet.

I think NA had set his mind on letting Puncheon go, and we'll get good money for him, too. I don't expect to see anyone go from the present first team squad in January.

Excuse me Mr Kaka but would you mind awfully waiting until after our game against Blackpool before signing as we don't want to upset anybody "in the risk zone".

Don't agree. If a deal is to be done they will complete it and announce it, not fanny around trying not to upset anybody.

OK ! I'll make an exception if it was Kaka, but he can't play on Saturday anyway, and players in Spain are enjoying a

pre-planned winter break - lucky fellows.
