The Red Bag Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 Matt Law of the Daily Express has just posted the following on Twitter: 'I'm told oxlade-chamberlain has agreed to join arsenal - only question left is if he moves this month or in the summer. Rejected liverpool'
OldNick Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 oops, we will see if he plays today if true. Sky said the other night that he had played his last game for us.
sfc1971 Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 Silly move unless Arsene is thinking to offload Theo or we get him back on a season and a half loan. AOC will just fester up there
RedAndWhite91 Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 Disappointed but good luck to him if it's true, still think he'd be foolish in moving at this age.
S-Clarke Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 He will leave in the summer i'm sure of that, so it wouldn't surprise me if a deal is already agreed for then. Enjoy him whist he's here!
Turkish Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 (edited) oops, we will see if he plays today if true. Sky said the other night that he had played his last game for us. no, they said "a source close to Chamberlain said he may have played his last game for us" - big difference, one is factual, the other is total ambiguous. IMO if we can keep him for the rest of season and get the rumoured £10m then we have a good deal, that will give us 5 very good championship players, if he leaves in Jan it doesn't give us much time to replace him, although i assume work has been going on behind the scenes incase this happens. Saint Charlie Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 Very confident he will be here in Jan. Why let him leave now? It would cost a lot to replace him and he is enjoying playing games!
Window Cleaner Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 It will be in the summer. He's far far to crucial to our plans for this seasons promotion challenge and i just cannot see NC letting him go now. it will never be NC's choice anyway.AOC no doubt has move on clauses in his contract, just needs the required amount to spring them. Leicestersaint Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 I will be very disappointed if he leaves - and i really think he is very silly to do so at this stage. But money talks.
Red and White Army Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 I am not surprised at all. It has been obvious the lad has his heart set on a big money move to a big club, and hand on heart I can't blame him at all. I would love to see him stay and play for Saints, but the writing has been on the wall for a couple of weeks.
NickG Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 he should leave, best for him, best for saints and best for the club he goes to in long term - get it sorted and move on! (best for saints in that cash in and stop uncertainty) Don't think he will leave yet tho
Saint Charlie Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 People who think he should leave his window have you watched Saints lately? He is brilliant, we need to keep him for our promotion charge!
S-Clarke Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 People who think he should leave his window have you watched Saints lately? He is brilliant, we need to keep him for our promotion charge! I think what ever happens he'll stay to the end of this season. I'm sure any prospective clubs will see it as the best option for him too, a chance to win lots of games, score goals and get a winners medal before joining a big club. He wouldn't benefit from moving in January as he's not really achieved anything yet - and he'd be a fool with rubbish advisor's if he does. Deppo Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 Whilst we are on the subject, this a good story on Walcott, Bale and Oxo from a Canadian rag: http://communities.canada.com/montrealgazette/blogs/goalposts/archive/2011/01/21/bale-versus-walcott-lessons-in-history-repeating.aspx
CitySaint Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 People who think he should leave his window have you watched Saints lately? He is brilliant, we need to keep him for our promotion charge! I do agree, but he seemed to be getting slightly more greedy and self-indulgent last saturday. It is still absolutely crucial he stays for us to go up though.
sotonjoe Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 Another case of an OP with seriously impaired reading comprehension skills, or just a desperate, attention seeking and, ultimately, inaccurate thread title. Either way, the ironic clap goes to Red Bag today.
gaz Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 Clubs have to agree a fee before permission is given to talk about contracts. AFAIK, neither Liverpool, Arsenal nor anyone else has even made a bid.

revolution saint Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 What's the point in letting him go this month? Even if we had 10 mill to spend we couldn't spend it. If he goes in the summer and we're promoted then it may be a good deal but otherwise a bit pointless.
Smirking_Saint Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 I will be gutted if he leaves so soon into his southampton career, and no doubt there will be a great deal of Cortese bashing over it if true. In reality though we all know that football clubs have no power anymore and stupidly the players hold all the aces, if he really wanted to go we couldn't stop him. All we can hope for is a large amount of cash and perhaps a loan back period ? On the flipside, if we build up a decent relationship with Arsene we could get some decent young players out of it ?? I totally agree. I have to wonder why we have not taken any of Arsenal's young players when Wenger knows what a good academy we have and how we look after our youngsters you would have thought he would be begging us to take them to aid their development! georgeweahscousin Posted 22 January, 2011 Share Posted 22 January, 2011 We have to be realistic and accept that he is destined for the top. Whether it is sooner rather than later, I will take it with a pinch of salt until someone from Saints says it.
