What would you rather hand - 2 games in hand or 2 points?

Lots of the wrist-slitters like Alpine said they would rather have the 5 points than 3 games. Now we have won one game how do they feel now - still would rather have the points than the games?

It's too early to say who was right. We'll have a better idea on that score after the next two away games. If, and it's a big ask, we win both of those games we'll be as good as up in my view. These two games are not make or break, but they certainly have the potential to make our season.

Agree. Two tough games on the road against sides playing for something. As important will be Uddersfield V Posh on Saturday.

Would certainly swap them for 3 points not sure about two, all I know is that there is still along way to go and while things are looking good this morning I expect there to be days ahead when they don't look so good as that is the roller coaster ride that is football. Still think we will finish second and go up which will be job done for the season.

At first glance, 2 games seems much better than 2 points.

But one of those games is against Rochdale who are flying. So to me it is marginal.

I know Rochdale are on a good run but since xmas they have lost to both Exeter and MK Dons at home. I think Oldham hadn't lost at home when we beat them 6-0. Not saying we should count our chickens but the players should be going there confident of three points if they play well.

Maybe, depends what midfield we can put out.

I think the 2 games in hand thing is a non-issue really. For me its a case of win 5 out of 8 home / away and we should be promoted as I cannot see Huddersfield getting more than 12 points from their remaining 6 games given their run-in. Even if they achieve 13 points which would be exceptional, then we still have a huge goal difference advantage over them. Win 6 games and we are definitely there. Really pleasing to see that so far we are showing no signs of bottling it at all.

If it were May, and we were in the same position, that being 2 points behind Huddersfield (for 3rd), them having just two games left, and us having four games left, then I'd take that anyday. They would choke for sure imho. However, that is not realistic, so I'll have the six points now thank you, get to second, and hang on.

Great post. Even got me believing. :)

I think we will win at least one of the two games in hand, therefore giving us at least 3 points, therefore I would rather have the two games in hand.

As I've said before we are currently allowed one slip up...... 7 wins from 8 needed.... if Huddersfield slip up against Peterboro on Sat, then we will be allowed one more.

I don't think it's as clear cut as the table suggests - the big games just keep on coming!

A draw at Orient and a loss at Rochdale could leave us in trouble, these two games are massive, we need to be injury-free and firing on all cylinders.

If Huddersfield beat Peterborough which is quite feasible it could all go wrong from this great position so I'm just hoping we can turn Orient over.

From Huddersfield's point of view they are on an amazing run that must be some sort of club record - but they can't shake us off and the pressure is on them.

A few weeks back it was frustrating to win and find everyone had.

We have dealt with Bmouth and MK Dons ourselves, Pboro have stumbled too, Hudders have drawn too many - Nige has slowly but surely steered us to this huge opportunity - Saturday we need to grasp it.

See you there.

Orient have been stumbling of late. Playoffs now less likely, confidence probably a bit down, I expect us to win.

Rochdale's a different story. They are on a roll. I'm sure they'd love to do the double on us & I wouldn't rule out this possibility.

Basically I would be surprised if we got more than 3 points from these two games.

I'd be happy with three points if Huddersfield and Petrborough draw. God that would be a great result for us. Fingers crossed.

They are no mugs but their recent results aren't a patch on what they were achieving in January and February, and they haven't played a top 6 side since then, so that allied to defeats at Brentford and home to Yeovil means they're probably not playing at the top of their game any more. Even when they were, one MK Dons win and a bunch of draws versus the top sides isn't all that impressive.

Meanwhile, Rochdale drew with Brighton but have lost to Huddersfield and MK Dons, and their recent run doesn't really contain any exceptional results either :

I expect Saints to do their usual thing, no more than a point at Orient, then surprise everyone by dicking Rochdale. I also expect Huddersfield to edge Peterborough tomorrow with a win. That said, I think we'll do it, but it wouldn't be Saints if we didnt do things the hard way.

I'd take our situation over theirs any day, especially with their run-in. I think we will gub Orient like Yeovil did but will be hanging on for a score draw at Rochdale. I also have an inkling that Huddersfield will have the egde over Peterborough considering their recent form. Fingers crossed for a draw though and at second best, an away win.
