No Danns then

I agree. New CM is a good idea, more competition out wide is good, but Danns seems to be half winger/half CM. Good, but not going to replace Lallana/Chamberlain, and unsure how he'd play with Morgan or in a 4. Difficult.

Rather focus on outright CMs. It's going to be difficult to bring in wide players when we have 2 such blatant first choices though.

I concur.

Cork would be a decent signing if we were to use Schniederlin in a more advanced role such as he is accustomed with at the French under 21's etc.

Otherwise we need a new CM that is capable of breaking forward aswell as defending. That of course is unless Chaplow gets back to the form we found him in during his loan spell.

IMO Hammond will be out of his depth in the championship.

Same could be said for many positions of course.

You basically have Davis, Fonte, Lallana, Chambo, Lambert and perhaps Morgan as first choices. Hard to convince many players he will be first choice unless he is a lot better than we have, and they cost much more. That IMO is why we have seen no signings so far.

Wow, you deserve huge credit for that observation, given they appointed Sven and spent a huge fortune on wages most of last season blatantly aiming to get promoted as soon as possible.

Amazing stuff. Keep it coming or we'll be lost without you.

Are you being sarcastic? Please be honest..

I think people are a bit quick writing off Hammond, he's played here before for Brighton and did pretty well - was one of their better players.

He's more than good enough and will be in our team from the start.

Having watched him play, I fully comend him for his attitude and his work ethic, however this is a step up and simply work alone does not make up for his technical inadequacies.

All IMO of course.

They are decent players by anyones standard.

Agree, 100%, they are only signing decent players, we have some pretty decent players - perhaps we are waiting for very good players

well, if we have any money this is the season to spend it.

The new Fair Financing rule comes in next season, and the only ones that will be able to spend big will be the relegated clubs with their massive parachute payments.

The Premiership are not implementing it. they are drawing up the drawbridge to stop ambitious clubs with money threatening them.

TAKE NOTE NICOLA

we cant live with teams like leicester and ipswich financially im starting to think we are out of our depth this season just to stay in this division would be a result.

We seem to have some fans that think we can walk into this league and dominate it.

Not going to happen. But we'll still be well clear of relegation, even if we don't sign anyone.

Leicester will walk the Championship. CMS, Danns, Schmichael and others in the bag. Looks like they mean serious business.

Every team in L1 and the champ were saying this about us and M'Boro last season. It really isn't that simple.

Am i the the only one who didn't rate Danns that highly? Alot of players can easily stand out in a poor team who have struggled to avoid relegation last few years. When i've seen Palace play, the only player i've been impressed with is Ambrose and their keeper whose name escapes me right now.. I've seen Danns get sent off prutton style when his team were playing vital games in recent seasons. I'm sure Saints can get better players to strengthen the midfield.

I don't know enough about him to rate him highly or not, just another average NPC player who scores the odd goal as far as I'm concerned.

Strange how we have all these experts on a player most of them can't have seen more than once or twice.

Not so sure about change the whole system as he would not be that much different to Guly. Not that sure I would rate him above Guly for next season, will have to wait and see on that one. I agree with what we really need, being the solid defensive midfielder you mention as we still have more attacking midfielder than most can put up.

I just get the feeling the prices being asked for decent UK players is just too over the top and the continent may well yeild far better value.
