Song for Osvaldo!?

Wild horses - couldn't drag us away

Daniel Osvaldo, we love watching you play

If people are worried about complexity or length, that in isolation could do the trick. It's slow, but then so is 'When the Saints Go Marching In' done properly. Most of the 'Another Brick in the Wall' efforts are pretty worthy too.

Daniel is travelling tonight on a plane

I can see the red tail lights heading for Saints

Oh and I can see Daniel waving goodbye

God it looks like Daniel, is a Saint in our eyes

They say Hampshire is pretty though I've never been

Well Daniel says it's the best place he's ever seen

Oh except for London and all of Italy

Oh we signed Daniel, oh Daniel Osvaldo

Ohhh, Daniel Osvaldo haircut like a gypsy

But now you are a Saint, you look like Johnny Depp,

but we all know, that you'll score all the goals

Daniel you're a star in the face of the sky

Or maybe just the chrous in bold, but I think you need the verse to set the scene :)

I think ant's right, keep it short and simple, though I would just use Osvaldo for the second line:

Wild horses - couldn't drag us away

Osvaldo, we love watching you play

Osvaldo, He's gonna score today, it's just a shot away.

(Stones Gimme Shelter)

That would sound awesome, and unique. And one you can really belt out, half sing the Osvaldo bit, the other the rest.

And once he has scored, it just changes to "he's gonna score again, he's gonna score again"

I would like us to do alan partridge and be like "Dan! Dan! Dan!... DAN!" but I spose it would be quite difficult to co-ordinate.

My favourite. Perhaps have one guy with a megaphone leading this chant and we all follow their lead.

Seriously why do people bother with things like this (no offence mate)

Rule 1 football chants are short and catch, not full length songs!!

When the balls in the goal it's not shearer or Cole it's osvaldo.

When the balls in the goal it's not nolan or cole it's osvaldo,

When he runs down the wing who needs Stuart downing he's osvaldo,

Great control of the ball as he nutmegs noble he's osvaldo,

When their chairman says hey where's financial fair play, there's osvaldo!

If it is to be kept as simple as this suggestion, how about changing the oi oi oi to something like this;

Ossie Ossie Ossie

Os Val Do!

Ossie Ossie Ossie, Oi Oi Oi, Ossie, Oi, Ossie, Oi, Ossie Ossie Ossie, Oi Oi Oi.

I ask for royalties to the tune of £10 every time it gets sung.

I'd love to hear a bit more rock and roll coming from the terraces.

We know that he likes Pink Floyd but I find their tunes aren't so chant-worthy. He also likes The Rolling Stones and I've had a couple of ideas based on their songs.

To the tune of Miss You:

Na na na na, nananah, Na na na na, nananah, Osvaldo! and repeat.

And (my favourite) to the tune of It's Only Rock and Roll:

[video=youtube_share;JGaBlygm0UY]

I know, Osvaldo scored a goal, and I like it! and repeat.

I see a red shirt, but what's painted on the back?

It's number seventeen, and he's on the attack.

Rounding the defender, he shoots and scores a goal.

The Saint's Captain Jack Sparrow, Daniel Osvaldo.

Daniel, Daniel, Daniel, Osvaldo

(Stones - Paint it black)

love it, but reckon it would be better with the ending bit not mentioning jack sparrow, maybe something like...

he looks like johnny deep, but its daniel Osvaldo

Yeah, I struggled with that line. Originally had 'The Saints swashbuckling pirate, Daniel Osvaldo'

He was wearing a John and Yoko t-shirt today, which was probably a reference to the first line of the Ballad of John and Yoko, 'standing at the docks in Southampton'. If we were as effortlessly cool as Dani himself, we would come up with a song based on this to show we got the reference.

Perhaps we should all take a book to the game and read it too much.
