“But it’s a good stadium and a nice pitch. They’re a young team, their coach has done a great job considering he’s not got any money to work with and he’s having to make do with young players. I expect an interesting game.”

Quote from Sir Alex himself.

One win at home all season is a great job then!

Man united is an oportunity for us to show the football world how insane Lowe is to appoint a ridiculously inexperienced foreign Manager and employ total youth, more like ;)

In the nicest possible way, please **** off to one of the other threads with anti-lowe / pro-lowe or can't be arsed-Lowe sentiment. This was a genuine attempt to talk about..... football. Revolutionary concept I know, but let's see if we can make it work :)

Good endorsement from Sir Alex of JP. Should give food for thought to those who would make JP the scapegoat for the ****ty situation we're in. He HAS done a pretty good job with practically bugger all to work with.

Oh please, Alex Ferguson is about to dump Jan's team out of the FA Cup, he's gonna be nice. I notice he said "interesting", usually managers in this situation expect a "tough" game. For "I expect an interesting game" read, "this crazy Dutch fool is gonna try and out pass us".

Of course we're likely to get stuffed. The point is JP has done as well as can be expected with players who were only the reserves and youth of last seasons relagation fodder.

Try and read the whole quote on manutd.com then you could avoid looking like a knob on at least one occasion.

United will arrive at St Mary’s on Sunday without Rio Ferdinand and Carlos Tevez for the Reds’ FA Cup third round tie against Southampton.

Sir Alex told press on Friday that Ferdinand is still struggling with the back injury he sustained in the warm-up at Stoke on Boxing Day, while Carlos Tevez will not return from Argentina in time for kick-off.

“Unfortunately Rio's still not training and we’re trying to give it time to settle," the boss said. "We’re managing it the best we can. He certainly won’t be playing in the next two games but hopefully we’ll have him ready for Chelsea next Sunday. By that time it will have hopefully settled down and he’ll be available for the big one against Chelsea. The work we’re doing at the moment is geared towards making his back more supple and there’s more resilience to the problem. The work he does in the gym is important.”

Ferguson also admitted he had not yet decided whether Cristiano Ronaldo would face Southampton. “I may not play him on Sunday,” Sir Alex said. “We’ll see. We’ve got a big month in January and we’ll navigate that month with the 23 players I have. Those 23 are going to have to play a part, particularly in the game against Southampton and the two legs against Derby [in the Carling Cup semi-final]. The teams at Southampton and Derby will be different, for example.”

Southampton may be languishing towards the bottom of the Championship table, but Sir Alex says his side won’t take victory for granted on Sunday. The FA Cup is, after all, renowned for throwing up surprises. “It’s a different kind of competition and one that requires luck too, you have to remember that”, he said. You can be dominating a game and get one break against you, as we did last year against Portsmouth in the quarter-final. There was a breakaway and a penalty kick, our keeper was sent off and we’re out of the cup. That’s what cup football is. It’s sudden death and anything can happen. We always say: ‘Give us a home draw against anyone’. We’ve not got a home draw, Southampton have got that and it’s an advantage to them. But it’s a good stadium and a nice pitch. They’re a young team, their coach has done a great job considering he’s not got any money to work with and he’s having to make do with young players. I expect an interesting game.”

Sorry to tell you but JP has certainly not done a great job, in fact he's done a very bad job so far. 1 home win all season, nuff said

As for what Fergie says, all managers say something good about the other team before games. In fact if he said in his pre-match interview that we are total **** and will be a complete walkover then everyone would be saying his comments were out of order.

Only if you change your mind ;)

Tbh with you buctootim, as far as I'm concerned JP knew the restrictions that he would be under when he came here, if he can't see that he was being set up as a patsy by Lowe then he's obviously not very clever, (nice bloke that he may be)

It was a good opportunity for JP whichever way it turned out. At worst he got a better job with more money than at Helmond - at best he would have got widespread praise and recognition for making a competitive, even promotion challenging team out of very little.

Oh I can handle alternative opinions Alpine, otherwise I wouldn't post on here (BTW, the irony from someone whose ilk jump on any alternative opinion by accusing them of being a PR Plant is so thick I'm choking) .

What I can't handle is the inability to answer a simple question and instead respond with some Lowe out guff. I'll precis, but the question was - "who in the Man Utd reserves team could we loan / would they loan us?"

Acceptable answers would be:

1) A name (Jonny Evans for example, then ensuing debate as to various allegations etc.).

2) A comment that Man Utd won't be loaning out anyone else (then ensuing debate as to players they have / haven't loaned).

3) A comment that they won't loan to us for various reasons (because we're on a losing streak, formation etc.).

Unacceptable answers are:

1) Errmm, see your posts.

This forum is in danger of disappearing up its own Lowe obsessed arse. I'm not asking for us not to talk about Lowe, but fail to see why every thread should be about him.

The idea that you can separate the events surrounding Lowe with the fortunes of Southampton Football Club is hillarious and so utterly misguided that I pity you.

Start your own site up then, if you cant handle discussing things affecting Southampton Football Club and want to talk about nice, fluffy clouds and pretty tippy-tappy triangles instead...

Quite happy to discuss things affecting SFC just find it very frustrating that every thread seems to turn into a discussion of the rights and wrongs of Lowe... I agree he's an utterly devisive figure that needs to go for the overall good of SFC but a million threads on here repeating the same old cr*p isn't going to make that happen is it!!

The OP tried to start a thread to discuss something different about SFC and by the second reply the thread had been turned into the same old sh*t discussing Lowe..

correct.

And before anyone starts yes I know I moan about Lowe more than Is healthy but its only because I care about whats happening to our club, and at the end of the day thats something we all have in common.

And I also haven't told anyone to fook off on the forum, despite not agreeing with them.

Lowe may be devisive but he talks more sense than a lot of the posters on here.

We need to cut the wage bill and build a strategy for the future that is what is happening it is not going to be easy .

He seems to have a better idea of what is required than Leon Crouch

After Chelsea moved Cork on to Watford I think the evidence is firmly stacked AGAINST up and coming youngsters from the Clubs that matter coming to Saints under JP and Lowe.

Sorry.... we will not see any decent nippas now on loan. Word's out... Saints are poorly managed and poorly run AND GOING DOWN.

Lowe's losing touch is working its magic everywhere once more.

Firstly it was p**s off, not f*** off. A small but semantic difference.

Secondly it was prefixed by "in the nicest possible way, please".

Thirdly it was suffixed by a smiley.

Forthly it wasn't intended to cause offence (sorry to Mr X if it did).

To be honest I can't be arsed to accept your challenge. I've no doubt that your posts are impeccably polite, tolerant of others, always on topic and never intend to cause offence....

You've kind of proved my point about this forum though, 30+ responses and very few related to the question posed.

Until we stop arguing about the problem and start looking for a solution, this club will carry on destroying itself - in the boardroom and in the fan base. To be honest the only place people are trying to fix the club is on the pitch, with meagre resources but (usually) lots of effort.

It's not working, but at least they're not sitting on their arses being pedantic arguing about "what's the point in playing if we've loaned out player X" or "how dare RL come and talk to Jan on the pitch before the game etc."

I'm still waiting for a constructive response to my original post. In the spirit of New Year and all that, why not try and answer it as the question intended?

Because he treats me and my thousand pound a year on season tickets like a customer.

problem is he has no concept of customer care.

runs a plc as a private (his business) until it suits to be a plc again

How will we be financially viable with the less income that our

relegation will provide??????????????????? eh?

Patience and support...FFS...this has been in abundance for what reward?

Bull **** fed to the fans to try to justify the lunacy.

I think Forest average 24000 per game. They have support.

We do too... but they're not coming. Why? Patience has ended.

Now this makes for an important discussion point. I think you are right John - Lowe's plan will take time... alot of time... infact so much time potentially that our grandchildren may see the benefit. How long? Forever?

But, I think it has already failed because the supporters have lost patience. And you can never get it back whilst failure continues. And it will.

So, I think its time for all of us to admit it wont work as we've all lost patience and its time to revert to running the Club as a football club again and rebuilding the tried and tested way with new strategic leadership.

At least we'd start to support and show patience again IMHO.

Lowe and the plc way of running this Club has lost the patience of the support(ers).

We are currently buying third rate players if any players at all.

There is a way. We put a team together to sell the Club. I have described my idea numerous times. It requires a unified approach that goes out to find an owner and promote the club. If it fails it goes out again... and again and again. Its constructive, unifying and with media & council support is a viable alternative to doing nothing.

Fabio - Left back

Wellbeck - Striker

Possebon - Attacking Midfielder

Tbh I think most good young United reserves would not want to come to SMS. I think they probably set their sights on Championship sides who are pushing for promotion. Borrowing from Millwall is more our scene right now - unfortunately.
