My understanding too, but as I don't go back to those times I cannot say for sure, certainly when I first started going in 1966 the dislike for and rivalry against Spurs was well ingrained. The Chivers transfer only intensified that dislike, although he really had become surplus to requirements with Big Ron and Mick. We still got the thick end of £125k in the deal, which was a transfer record at the time (doesn't sound much now does it?) and Frank Saul wasn't the worst player in the world, or even the worst we signed from Spuds (Forecast).
