On a similar note - people who say "One hundred percent!" when what they actually just mean is "yes".

Saying ‘amazing’ to describe something that is not amazing. Using the word ‘super’ to emphasise something

What is better awesome or amazing?

Both the same IMO, 'awesome' is the American version.

Mrs WSS says 'amazing' all the time.  Waitress brought drinks to the table, "that's amazing, thank you".

It used to annoy me, then I worked out that she really does get amazed by the simplest of things so she gets a pass.

Rip off airport prices

£20 for a burger and chips if you’d paid £6 for it in Wetherspoons you think it was rough

2 beers, 2 wines a coke and 4 burger £123 absolute piss take

People’s, well the media obsession with record temperatures being broken. It’s fucking hot but I don’t care if it’s 32.4 or 32.9 in Berkshire

Where you going to go if you're hungry? Having said that some are better than others but I am too principled to buy a small bag of Haribo for £6.50

For Leeds airport the options are Burger King or two pubs both of which were absolutely rammed yesterday and definitely put their prices up from last time I was there a month ago on a BUSINESS trip. Absolute piss take on top of the fact that the holidays are all 30% higher due to it being half term.

another Holliday rip of scam is that son is now 13 so we are paying more or less adult prices for him now, why? What’s the difference between 12 and 13? We’re B&B this time but our summer holiday we’re All inclusive. He’s not drinking any alcohol, he’s not using any different facilities, it’s still a soda bed in the room which is the same. I don’t get why it shoots up you turn 13. We’ve booked next years summer holiday already with friends who have a kid who’ll be 11 then mine will be 14, we’re paying £2000 more than them for exactly the same holiday

At least he has a clear target for what he needs to earn in the next 12 months if he wants to go on holiday.

I usually pay c.£30 -£40 a head to go into one of the airport lounges... Depending on the lounge, you can get some decent "all you can eat" food and unlimited drinks (incl beer and 'fizz'). Also get decent seats, usually a good  view of the planes and gets you away from the riff-raff.... ( ;) )

That said, I think more and more people are cottoning on to how relatively reasonably priced these 'pay per visit' lounges are, as the ones I use at Heathrow have been pretty rammed the last couple of trips (that said, you still get a nice comfy seat and table even when busy)

I get lounge access free with my Amex but the one in Leeds is shite. Do that when going from other airports

There was a consumer law suit about it. Unfortunately, they hired the Saints lawyers who tried to argue about the difference between 72 and 71 hours. 🙂

Yeah, the more provincial the airport the more basic the lounges tend to be. At Exeter, for example, you get biscuits, fruit, pastries and cereals, and that's about it... Still plenty of beer etc on tap though... :)

Yeah, if flying within Europe we are getting three meal deals from Smiths...even at £7 a time I refuse to pay for meals at airports.

Flamin’ Nora, that makes motorway service stations Aldi-like for value for money by comparison. Burgers are £12-15 each around here and I’m in the chocolate box (not Gloucester itself) part of the Gloucestershire Cotswolds.

Been here before 14 years ago. Loved it then and it’s still nice, barely changed from what I remember. We’re in Kefalos. Smallish, quiet resort 20 minutes from the airport. Mainly local run hotels, restaurants and bars. Food is good, 27 degrees, hotel simple but nice, views lovely, what’s not to like
