People are a product of the environment they are brought up in. Sadly if parents have a rather dim look on immigration, the EU, education, science etc then that's going to be passed on.

Over the years I've had a few lads work for me who had challenging upbringings and nearly all of them had a mistrust of pretty much everything and everyone! I've only just managed to convince one that having a HepA and B vaccination won't cause you to become impotent..

In the past thick people were more deferential and trusting of those in charge.

Now they are constantly fed the message that they are not thick, they are the ones that truly know what is going, it’s the ‘elites’ trying to manipulate you but you are too wise for their trickery.  So you aren’t thick after all, things are really simple to solve.
Sadly the psychology and the brain wiring won’t actually lead them to process information like hey since Brexit we have massively increased immigration I was misled. No, Brexit wasn’t implemented properly so I was right all along I am still not stupid.

Reform will try to dismantle public services, dismantle civil rights, increaee their own institutional power, continue to reveibe money from Russian sources, dumb down the media (I know you have some trenchant views on that), embarass us on the world stage, alienate closest trading partners (more), and stuff government full of grifting, unimpressive, MAGAts.

So, that's why I don't think they're worth a go.

And you have evidence of this? You don't think the media is already being dumbed down? Jeez. You are guessing what they will do based on your confirmation bias because you don't like them. But you have no idea in truth that they will actually do any of those things. But we do know exactly what they other two will do as they have been doing it for decades.

We get your life is shit and you have been let down all your life. Guess what politicians won’t make it any better. Try some self-help and reflection and stop blaming politicians. You were born into a privileged period and country yet so unhappy. For someone who has self-proclaimed themselves as a worldly wise experiencing and adapting different cultures you really should learn to appreciate what you benefited from more. Although I guess you didn’t get much of an education, but it was in offer and was free. You should have paid more attention.

Another few thousand people ‘arrived’ this month.

Nice of the local authorities to ask all our new doctors and engineers to not harass women or film anything near schools

wonderful stuff.

On the other hand, Starmer talking tough on National Security. This is like some sort of comedy sketch

Yeah but it is definitely not thick to keep voting Tory and labour. We must continue with them.

Short of Nigel standing on a beach near Calais stopping these people coming in, how do you think his lot will stop people getting in their little boats?

One look at him and they'd turn straight round.

At last. I have been waiting for this, the most predictable and childish (inexperienced in the world) comment. I had a feeling it would be you as you seem utterly crushed by not being able to answer my points in any way. Absolutely brilliant how you thick ones get so riled when you cannot hit back on any real meaningful comment and opinion.

What I want I know is why the current government and previous one won’t pass legislation enforcing unlimited fines and jail time for large firm’s CEOs and Directors proven to be consistently employing illegal immigrants? Large firms like Deliveroo despite their opaque and devolved operating model should be bearing the cost directly of the hotels, regardless of how much that is. Their turnover is in excess of £2bn. So a £250m fine is affordable and reasonable for them, whereas for a local takeaway they are already fining a proportionally similar amount https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/25012992.oxford-takeaway-fined-30-000-employing-illegal-workers/

https://glastonbury.nub.news/news/local-news/glastonbury-takeaway-fined-ps80000-for-illegal-employment-254665

No point meeting with them, just prosecute them fast track as they’ve done to the SMEs quite rightly, and fines on a sliding scale of £70m-£250m for starters will soon cut it down https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cj615p5y5kko

Theresa’s May’s idiot legislation puts the likes of you and me liable for ensuring that our firms don’t employ people without the RTW in the UK even if we were born here. If large organisational leaders thought they’d be having a day in court instead and risk losing their business and family home, it’d soon reduce rapidly.

Cracking down severely on illegal working and knowing employment of illegals would do far more to slow the influx than just ‘smashing the gangs’ in isolation or eye-wateringly expensive Rwanda schemes. We can do a mix of those in parallel too, not either/or.

The alternative? Tents in the parks where our kids/grandkids play? On that little green near your house?

Re address the risk/reward balance To ‘coming across the channel’

That avoids the question of what do we do with people that land here or are here already. Easy to complain, but not so easy to offer realistic solutions.

What risk/reward balances to you suggest?
