Do you know what the entry level (which you describe this as) salary is for a video scouts? Entry level software engineer at his previous employer is over 40k (source: first result in search). You'd leverage experience to push that up to a more realistic starting grade of approx 45k. Possibly, as discussed with prior video scouts hires, they may have other income streams to make up the deficit. Speaking of which, would you be adding stats for RDF Tactics into FM?

So, I was asking a question. 2) Many people have multiple roles, providing income. 3) I wonder if he's peeked at his PA 🙂

Whatever happened to just scouting talent from across the continent and getting them in for a trial to see if they’re actually decent. 27 years ago we sent a bloke to a country hardly anyone had heard of at the time to scout a player called Marian Pahars, and here we are in 2025 with some bloke that worked for a bank watching videos of a player to see what their xG is or some other shite analytical data. Honestly modern football is bollocks. 2

"We need promotion, and hardly anyone has as many promotions, self or footballing, than Marc," said a SR spokesperson. "With such success, Marc has taken the title as best pound for pound manager in Europe, and that's always been a SR focus. With his banking and marketing background, Marc will also assist in transitioning Southampton FC into a player trading data hub, and E-Sports franchise." 1
Galway saint Posted May 5 Posted May 5 We are shit at recruitment using traditional methods so can this be worse than the methodology that landed us with Edozie, Bazanu etc ? Very possibly as it's Saints but feels like we have much bigger problems

sockeye Posted May 5 Posted May 5 To be fair, software engineers and Saints players have a lot in common. They both earn a lot of money for doing fuck all. 1 1
Patrick Bateman Posted May 5 Posted May 5 6 hours ago, Matthew Le God said: He isn’t fresh out of school. He is a 27 year old with a masters degree in physics at a good Uni. He has 3 years experience in top level football in an analyst role and another 3 years experience as a software engineer for a major football software company. Given his role at Saints, all very relevant. Where are you looking? https://www.linkedin.com/in/anthony-sheldon/ He has a BSc from Leeds. He has 10 months (I suspect less) as a 'software engineer'. As an ex'Software Engineer' myself, I remember seeing so many people coming and going in tha industry. I left after 10 years. But regardless, good luck to him, hope he smashes it, for the club's sake.
