Not always keen on Guardian commentators but Rafael Behr is very eloquent and smart.

I genuinely think you can judge most of these Reform by their faces. Looks such a cold bastard

Someone has to make those hard decisions. We shouldn't underestimate the impact it has on the brave, patriotic reform politicians.

I just hope that they don't find themselves in a position where they can't find work, because they've cut all of the benefits for the mental health issues they are suffering from.

"Looking at your claim form Mr Jenrick, I see that you claim to be suffering from PTSD, as a result of machine gunning immigrants in the English Channel. Also, anxiety leaving the house to face all those you cut the benefits of, including those impacted by reimposing the two child benefit cap.

I'm sorry to say..."

What is good about what he said?

Basically he’s just said “could the right-wing parties please stop weaponising the constant unrelenting stream of events that completely vindicate their world view”

You would’ve been queuing up in 1930s Germany to join the Gestapo or the SS.

Standard Reform stuff, if Farage finds any more rotten apples, he’ll need a new industrial estate chock full of barrels to store them in.

Most of the featured are Reform elected councillors, one a Deputy Council Leader!

Literally the most unsurprising news of the day.

There seem to be an awful lot of misunderstood people with 'personal issues'  or who are on strong medication that affects their perceptions and speech.

Well, I would say many of them are probably mentally retarded, and would require some sort of medication for it.

Or perhaps self "medicated" in some way.

Fair play to ITV for going hard on this, these people needed exposing for what they are. That said, I'd imagine that some of their supporters would have been delighted rather than appalled to hear some of that.

It's wanking material for the far right tbh.

Hasn’t another Reform person just been done by the police for inappropriate behaviour?

Or is this fake news by the woke left? 😂

Scummy people of a scummy party doing scummy things. Who’d have thought it?

Tonight’s undercover ITV documentary will create more headlines. Thing is Laila, it’s not just a few people is it? https://www.lbc.co.uk/article/farage-joked-racism-claims-reform-documentary-5Hjdk4x_2/

It’s your leadership, deputy mayors, hundreds of elected councillors since before the 2024 GE saying these fascist things which Nick Griffin wouldn’t have thought twice about, not to mention the everyday members and clear empathy whatever Farage says towards Tommy Robinson and Raise the Colours.

Expanded into the membership at scale and their sheer racism, with heaps of examples of far right great replacement theories abound, and more depth on the Chris Parry mess. Farage’s media team wanted him gone, Farage bottled it in a way he wouldn’t have done with Wayne from Millbrook say, because of the Naval rank, and Parry went on to praise Hitler’s Naval commanders during WW2 on X. Then eventually suspended for blatant anti-semitism with the investigation still unresolved. This was a high profile chance for Farage to make good on his promise at their last two party conferences to kick the racists out and sort the vetting out. When push came to shove, he didn’t want to do it because the core of his views are also Parry’s. Their media team were openly mocking the standard of the candidates.

Some of the rank and file are leaving because of Yusuf being a Muslim. Ian Cooper, Leader of their Staffs CC, exposed as a clear white supremacist and ‘top fan’ of a white-only dating website full of Neo Nazi tropes yet Farage agonised about sacking him or not. Cllr Gavin Beatles then caught on there. Sarah Pochin spells out at their Christmas party how bad the sexism is as well.

It won’t put off any of the 20% hardcore who are energised by the them in the same way Momentum’s anti-semites were by Corbyn, but it’ll put anyone genuinely right of centre, let alone anywhere left of that group miles off engaging with them, and will just intensify the tactical voting alliances already well underway which will grow further in resources eg ‘how do I stop Reform at all costs in my constituency?’.

Clear that their ex-Tories such as Alan Feeney, Deputy Leader of Solihull Council, had joined because of Sunak and then Badenoch becoming leader of the Conservatives. Nothing to do with their policies either. It’s a very racist party for very racist people, there’s far too many examples of pure unfiltered racism, and others willing to cover it up in any attempt to win power for it not to be. At a Hampshire level, very clear links with and support exchanged with the Portsmouth Patriots group who have done Nazi salutes on the seafront, organised the boats violence with the police/RNLI, and very extreme FB content. George Madgwick, Hants CC Reform stirring it up on SM. So Reform are also skate bastards.

Clearly they think they can fool enough people that they’re a centre right alternative to the Conservatives but they aren’t and never were. They’re MAGA UK, inherited the BNP’s core. Tommy Robinson and Rupert Lowe get a lot of praise when they don’t think they’re being filmed, so a lot of their prospective MP candidates aren’t even honest about their true views.

I was slightly surprised to see some of the Patriots proudly sporting SS and Himmler insignia.

If you find yourself on a protest or in a polling station and you are on the same side as actual Nazis, it may be time to step back and have a good look around.

And the next time someone complains about the far right being lazily described as Nazis, if someone buys and wears an SS ring and does Heil Hitler salutes in public, call me woke, but I think they're ticking enough boxes.

I started watching but not yet completed. Some utter cunts obviously. Got to get power by pretending to appeal to be moderates then go full tilt if/when in power with executions, ‘burning them out’ and deportations.
Allowing that all these types of programmes are a little sensationalised - many of them were just little racist nobodies that you would find in many pubs and to no surprise to anyone attach themselves to this party.

Where was this?

If there were you always get a few idiots in every group so people on the right don’t condone it. It doesn’t mean that the majority of those on the far right are nazis. I’ve heard of plenty of people on the pro Palestine marches also supporting hamas , which appears to be more widespread. They are terrorist sympathisers but I don’t call everyone on the far left terrorist sympathisers. The Labour Party was also found to be anti semitic remember. You get idiots on both sides but nobody needs to lazily stoop to the lowest common denominator in describing them.

As you believe Nazi is a lazy term to use for this specific idiot, how would you describe a Reform-supporting Patriot who proudly wears SS and Himmler insignia and does Heil Hitler salutes?

I agree with that. From what I read you were saying that it was legitimate to call people on the far right “nazis” because of an idiot. If you weren’t saying that but describing one individual, fair enough

I will try to watch it. My general view is there are always idiots in all parties but the lowest common denominators don’t mean that is the consensus view of the party. I’m an undecided voter and I can see some of their potential flaws but I’ve been to see Tice speak at a work event and was quite impressed with his proposed policies detailed specific to my industry for example and how they would look to regenerate forgotten communities. His policies actually sounded deliverable unlike current and previous governments. I would balance of the extent of the low common denominators with information like that rather than throwing the baby out with the bathwater. If we all vote based on the lowest common denominators none of us would vote at all I suspect!

The problem is, as with all parties, whilst you might support 40% of their policies, a vote for them endorses the whole manifesto.

Aware that most that featured in the programme weren’t big fish in the party but clear they want things omitted from any manifesto as know extreme and Brits by and large wouldn’t vote for it.
