Kinda get what you're saying but if you can't look forward to a couple of games against them lot then what can you look forward to?

We'll almost certainly have a much better squad than them so if we get the manager right should be aiming for 4 points minimum. Though a home win apiece wouldn't surprise me.

The only downsides are the fact that we'll have the bubbles and the new ground layout will make SMS less racous for them I think.

Don’t see why we can’t just give them 2k in the centre blocks of the away stand, with temp netting either side. Exactly what they did to us at Fratton in 2019. You can bet your arse we’ll only be getting 2000.

Home game will be a nightmare to police and control fans as walk down from bridge, chaplet, Kingsland, station etc. Away will only get 1,500 as section is used by home fans. Hopefully we can beat them home and away. Unless been to 8+ aways go no chance. More chance in home end.

The norm away allocation at Fratton this year has been just under 2,200.

They shouldn’t be if Spors and the new manager get their act together in the transfer window. ‘If’ is doing heavy lifting there I admit. Not as if we don’t know how Martin or Jones set-up is it? Get a good spine in place which we’ve not had since Project Restart and we can sort out the skates both times.

We'd have lost under Martin, without a shaddow of a doubt. They have a style that would suit playing against that kind of system. 

As much as it pains me to say it, Moschino is doing a brilliant job and players like Murphy and Bishop are dangerous players. Hopefully someone comes in a takes a punt on Moschino at some point in the near future.

Yes, there was a meeting yesterday between the police, council, the clubs etc. about the plans for the games and it will be the same for both fixtures.

Seems to be both teams have agreed on 2700 allocation for each club so that's a good allocation for us at Fratton if true

The Police wouldnt want hordes of Pompey fans walking to the ground from the Central Station when there are 4 cruise ships in port that day as well as the Boat Show at Mayflower Park.

Presumably there is sufficient room for 50-60 coaches to park up to accommodate the 2,700 Pompey fans?

I wonder if the burger vans who normally park in that area will fancy turning up on the day?

Imagine they will as a fair chunk of their fans will be stuck there for ages pre match.

50 coaches ! That's a lot to drive through in a city with the worst traffic outside of London. Last season 4 times  the replacement train bus to Eastleigh took 1.5-2 hours. I thought the away fans allocation was much smaller at Fratton due to the redevelopment at one of the corners .

It will be a nightmare on the train as a lot of games are. By the time I get out of ground and walk to station all the police have packed up and gone. The newsagents will be happy selling cans beer.

They’ll have a police escort and shut some of the roads, I’d imagine? Pretty sure I remember they shut a whole section of the M27 last time?

They finished the Milton end redevelopment ages ago. It added some seats, not reduced the capacity.

Sunday morning traffic tends to be very quiet so probably the best time to do, I expect they'll have them parked up and in the ground by 11am. 

Hopefully they publish the route so others can avoid being stuck behind them and travel a different way,  with southampton central station closed most of our fans will end up driving unfortunately,  local bus services not great on a sunday either

No chance they'll publicise the route and give those looking to cause an issue a chance to prepare.

Think last time they came off at Bursledon and down through Bitterne.

That would be the quickest route for sure and closer to away end but probably harder to secure on the way with narrower roads and more side roads leading off.

It's not their fans I'm worried about (they'll be heavily outnumbered and stuck in a corner like they were in 1996); it's their team. Admittedly, they've had some easy pre-season games, but they haven't conceded a single goal in any of them. They won 4-0 at Reading.

Police escort and straight to gound, maybe in small tranches. I recall driving a mini bus to Watford and being the front of the Police escort, it was a bit of fun. They wanted Saints out of the city that day lol

I expect the holiday makers on the cruise ship would like nothing more than to see the DEF in action. I expect the reason why there are 4 cruise ships in port thee say is BECAUSE of the chance to see the legendary firm turn loud mouth rivals turn into nervous wrecks cowering and looking for hiding places in the biggest game of hide and seek you’ll ever see.
