Galway saint Posted Sunday at 08:58 Posted Sunday at 08:58 The football has generally been terrible to watch which you could forgive if it produced results but it doesn’t, so why do we persist ? I think that’s what really pisses people off. I would be interested to know if the slow build up play (which is killing us) comes from the club, the manager or the players ? The failure to stop crosses into the box has been the case from the RM years is the other major issue for me. I wouldn’t be surprised to see us go down but I think next year will be more likely 1
Football Special Posted Sunday at 10:28 Posted Sunday at 10:28 I think it's a real possibility and have started to convince myself at least we'll get to do a new ground at Bromley FC 1

The only thing that will save us is we have far better players (hideously coached) than the likes of Oxford, and we will have enough to be safe with a few games to spare So let’s say Sheffield Wednesday are nailed on. Maybe Oxford because of their ridiculous decision to sack their manager just before Christmas. But saying this they got a 0-0 draw with Bristol City yesterday. Then Charlton won and I thought they were in free fall, but in the last 6 they have picked up 2 wins and 2 draws. So maybe one out of us, the blue lot down the road that have more fight for this kind of thing, and their fans will not let them not give 100%. Then for me I think Blackburn will be the the other team. WBA I think have enough to battle it out, but look dire with the results, but have been playing ok for a while. The fact that I’m analysing the relegation is a sad state that we should not be in. It is just a good job that Wednesday are in such a state! 2

Midfield_General Posted Sunday at 15:53 Posted Sunday at 15:53 (edited) 19 games left to play, and 57 points left for everyone to play for. It currently only needs a six point swing to put us in the relegation zone. We have a clueless management team, no coaching pedigree of any kind to speak of, no leaders or fight, players who don’t care or have given up, an utterly defeated fan base and an ownership who are fundamentally unable to make a single good common sense decision that doesn’t just make us worse. We are in absolute freefall. Relegation’s not just a possibility, without major change at this stage I’d actually be more surprised if we managed to find a way to stay up. That’s what SR have reduced us to. Edited Sunday at 15:53 by Midfield_General 3

Worst part is… we’ve had a nice run of fixtures during this time. Oxford, millwall and hull missing players. Boro as the biggest challenge and they destroyed us. What a time to be a Saints fan 1

I can't remember the last time i just wanted to walk out of the ground at half time. There was nothing to be positive about. It was an utterly disgraceful performance by the most gutless bunch of Saints players i have ever had the misfortune to watch in over 50 years of watching Saints. I'm sorry i keep banging on about it but i keep saying "we have no leaders on the pitch, absolutely no one." When we conceded the first goal the entire team were heads down apart from the goalkeeper who came running out of his box trying to get the players to fight. WTF was that all about, our newest player the only one trying to raise the other players. We are absolutely gutless, no leaders on the pitch and devoid of any idea how to break teams down. The jeering from the stands every time they played this sideways, sideways backwards football was as bad as i've seen it. Anyone that doesn't think we 1
die Mannyschaft Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago There are dome advantages being in leaque 1 No need to get season ticket/membership as probably plenty capacity to pay on the day.. Should be far cheaper tickets. Teams only get £1.5m of prize fund and few million more if promotion. So that means we won't be wasting £50m plus on players. Average top players get £300k so again that's affordable and rules out £20m players on £4m wages. The whole of Doncaster squad is about £5m and as that's the level Saints perform at we are well within budget. If we sell our entire squard SR will have made such a huge profit they would sell up and level Southampton. None of our starting 11 plus 5 subs will want to stay in league 1 so no problem selling at end season. Some decent away days also, Doncaster hopefully, Reading, Wimbledon, L Orient, Barnsley. Plenty empty seats on EFL leaque 1 highlights so would get good away allocation. Always look on the bright side of shit Saints football.
macca155 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I've been scoffing and poo pooing any mention of relegation. My eyes were firmly on the play offs. Well no more scoffing from me. At 3.46pm on Saturday my poo pooing was firmly rammed down my throat. If you'll excuse the metaphor. I still think it can be avoided, but the club is certainly in mortal danger now. A defeat on Wednesday is pretty much a formality, I can't see a wily old fox like Wilder letting the opportunity pass. Sunday is harder to call. Home advantage and Saints on their knees, would suggest a devastating defeat. However derby games are weird, and they have their own demons. Nevertheless there's a scenario where they win and go above us ..... 😲 If SR don't realise they are in trouble now, just wait for that to happen. Hopefully Tonda's home truths (ha), will get a response, but we are in deep trouble.

We cant win Sunday at Fratton its impossible to suddenly increase fitness levels, ball control, defending crosses, shooting ability etc by 200%. They have players back to boost squad like many teams below us. We are at out best 11 plus 5 subs and cant even play basic football let alone match the opposition. This team and whoever is manager (its not Tonda) are utter crap leaque 1 quality. I'm right next to home fans on Sunday and know a few Pompey who just cant wait for the game as they have seen how useless we are in last matches. This is without doubt and will be confirmed the worst Saints team ever. Edited 4 hours ago by die Mannyschaft
