Lovely interview with Cam Bragg up on YouTube. I wish I had his drive and composure at 20!

He comes across so well and his obvious love for Saints is clear to see.

Its always great when a local lad comes through and Tonda seems to have instilled a great belief in our youngsters and trusts them.  Its clear Bragg adores him.

For the first time in many years I am genuinely excited that our younger players have a pathway.

I think Tonda and the club can do great things together.  For too many years our youngsters have been ignored with no real pathway and/or fed to the wolves (Dibling).

With Tonda they are being managed responsibly but have a clear pathway.

Very good interview though.

I can only imagine he was having a hard time when someone told him he'd only be a national league player at best. Contract extension needed for him.

Sport Republic seem to have finally found a model that works, more by luck than judgement. You have a coach who takes the young players through the U21s and then into the first team with him. You rarely get that sort of continuity. Who knew?

"Tonda Eckert has the luxury of working with the academy players and knows what each of them is capable of. As far as Sillah Dibaga is concerned, Eckert had been working on the winger's defensive skills, playing him as a wing-back in the Under-21s."

Not sure we can say "it works" based on half a season in the Championship!

Gonna be needed more next season once Jander is sold!

Charles will be very hard to keep, he must be on the radar of the big boys, if he’s not now it won’t be long before he is.

So I just read 10,00000000000 million words of nothing. Because someone here can't read (ex-English teacher, aren't you?) and decided to post a nothing post for whatever reason. I would have hoped for  better from you.

How on earth can you claim “it works” at this stage?

I don't see how SR model is any different from any other EFL clubs....team plays youngster init.

Refreshing for Saints to be back to giving youngsters a chance though. I would say that is pretty fundamental to the club's identity.

Fed to the wolves ?? Dibling had a contract offer from Saints (a very good one allegedly) he or his advisors decided they wouldn't be taking it so in effect fed themselves to the wolves (or toffees).

I didn't mean his contract status - I meant he was played constantly when it was clear he needed a break from the front line.  He needed to learn his craft gradually like Jay Robinson, Bragg and others are
