suewhistle Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Don't know if any add ons are involved but looks like Saints better not budget for them..
UpweySaint Posted September 15 Posted September 15 I wonder what THB and his agent were told when he signed? I know Emery likes to ease players in, maybe after time on the training pitch over the international break he’ll start making the match day squads.
Midfield_General Posted September 15 Posted September 15 (edited) Cash, Maatsen and Pau Torres are all injured now, and Villa have got a Carabao game away at Coventry tomorrow night, so you'd think that THB would almost certainly feature in that. If he still doesn't get any game time in a lower priority fixture with half their defence unavailable, then it would appear that something is definitely up. Edited September 15 by Midfield_General 2

Seems like he'll be getting his chance, as you say. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c6wyzg91zm4wo 1
Pengi Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago THB said recently on Facebook"Hopefully, I will get a few more games and try to get myself into the team, which is difficult with the standard of players that are here, but I will keep working and, obviously, I won't stop until I get my run of games." Cheeky loan back to us in January?

THB was obviously bought in as a squad filler for them, to cover injuries and rotate during a long season. Whether he understood that when he signed remains to be seen. He has sacrificed being the main man here and regular football for the hope of Premier League action and Europe. If it doesn't work out I'd gladly have him back at Championship level. If we're in the Premier League by then, question marks would still remain if he's up to it. Hope it works out for him eventually. Edited 6 hours ago by BotleySaint 2

bugenhagen Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Mabye it's like when Villa loaned Bednarek, or when we signed Vegard Forren. You instantly see in training that the player you thought was ready to compete (or go straight into the team) is nowhere near and far behing your existing options? Edited 5 hours ago by bugenhagen 1

Not to mention the small matter of much more money which is probably quite important when your father-in-law is Roy Keane. 2
Farmer Saint Posted 45 minutes ago Posted 45 minutes ago I have a friend who works at Villa - they were expecting him to be much better than he is. He is not an upgrade on Mings and that is a big issue.
The Kraken Posted 33 minutes ago Posted 33 minutes ago Can’t see him coming back on loan. Maybe a loan to another PL club in January if he’s still frozen out at Villa. But back here, nope, not unless it’s next summer and we get promoted. And even then I reckon Tonda would probably hope to recruit someone himself instead.
suewhistle Posted 26 minutes ago Posted 26 minutes ago I'm not saying this in a disparaging way, but I haven't thought about him since he left and haven't really missed him. Not to say that we wouldn't be better with him and I couldn't think who the alternative was when I saw Stephens playing yesterday, but no gaping hole left. Schlotterbeck and the other defenders really proved their worth yesterday with all the blocks they made. Farmer Saint, what aspect of his game are they disappointed with? Surely extensive scouting covers the main attributes?

Even if he's not gone in and impressed them enough for immediate contention, their manager does take a while to bed in new players and he can always improve now he's at that higher level. That improvement should mean we've got a better loan player, when we go back up. 🙂

Without that he will struggle against PL strikers.

His performances under Tonda were often either our MotM or right up there but there's a gulf between us and top premier league players and he hasn't yet bridged that gap. Always felt he cared about our club and never say never to his return. He would certainly have appreciated our derby win yesterday.
