Young saints lad walking home on his own after a nightout bumps in to Mcgoldrick and Wright phillips . Starts chatting to them about saints says when you boys gonna do the buisness and get us away from the bottom. Then they turn on him telling him how much they earn and what have you ever done.then they start to throw there food at him and start to punch and kick him.The lads got a few bumps and bruises but hes alright. This happened up by the giddy bridge pub, hopefully its all on cctv.DIRTY NO GOOD ****S

I for one hope it is not true but I can't seeing it be anything other than true.... what a bunch of mongs. Could do with players like that 1000's of miles away from the club.

info suggests they were arrested and bailed till Monday and will be charged with assault!!! Hope they never play for SFC again in this case. Guess we will find out for definate on Monday, strange that the story has not broke quicker.

One for the anoraks :

Have Saints ever had another player that was arrested for two seperate incidents in less than 12 months????

Drunken stories are nearly always exaggerated, I expect this guy shouted abuse at them and they threw a chip at him or something.

Unless there's any evidence it's not worth wetting your pants over.

It is a fair assumption to make but no matter what the guy said to them, if they assaulted him, have been arrested and then charged then I cannot see any way back for either of them.

After getting in trouble last year you would have thought BWP would just want to knuckle down, fight for a place in the team and play some football again.

As for Lallana crying then oh dear. It kind of goes to show you the mental strength or our rather fragile young team. No wonder people like Gavin Mahon bully us when we play them.

Shouting abuse from the terraces is one thing. Abusing the players face to face is disgusting. No one should abuse anyone, verbally or otherwise, like these animals. I wish they'd given him something worth getting arrested over tbh. They might be SFC players but first and foremost they're people, and like anyone they are entitled not to get abuse hurled at them to the point they need to retaliate or are reduced to tears. Anyone who thinks it's ok to get in someone else's face and act like that should be f***ing ashamed of themselves.

Like I said, if there is evidence, it could all be ******, I find it hard to believe Lallana would be made to cry but what someone said. Sounds like stuff made up by lads on the **** to me.

this reminds me of an episode of extras, where ricky gervais is in a restaurant and asks the waiter to tell the woman to tell the kid to be quiet, who is downs syndrome. next day he's karate chopped bothe people and it got worse. lets find out the truth first.

The fact you were obviously never taught the sticks and stones lesson whilst you were a child is very apparent. Also condoning physical violence on an internet forum is just about the only thing on this thread anyone should be ashamed of.

However you are right when you say no one should verbally abuse anyone but whilst not being right it does happens, but resorting to physical violence is not acceptable? If it happened then they deserve what is coming to them.

Call yourself a moderator? You are one of the biggest antagonist wind ups on this forum. How you got that position is beyond me.

Nice one.

Condoning physical violence? Hardly. I'm saying that if they get arrested for assault I hope it was worth it. Of course they should have walked away but not being able to turn the other cheek is a lesser 'crime' than starting to hurl abuse at someone in the first place IMO. I don't see why their jobs should mean they can't defend themselves.

As for your last sentence, I have no idea what you're on about. Seems a bit personal to me but hey-ho, you're entitled to your opinion.

Would love a gavin mahon type player at saints. saw him when he was young for hereford back in 1995/6 prob. had dreds n looked a gay but is the kind of player we need. a no-nonsense def midfielder who'll take no prisoners

That comment does condone violence. You're saying that if someone calls you a name you have the right to kick them up and and down the car park? Defend themselves? I thought someone was shouting at them?

Drunk man shouts at other drunk men. Drunk men respond the way drunk men do when confronted by drunk man...fisty cuffs. Nothing shocking here from either side IMO.

I was out on the beer last night. If i'd seen one of the players, I probably would have called him/them useless c*nts (they are). But as Ponty says, its not acceptable to abuse someone because of their recent performance at work, so a response in kind is only to be expected. It would be with any other fella on the street, why not footballers? The guy they (allegedly) gave a slap to being a Saints fan is irrelevant.

I'm not condoning anyones behaviour in this (supposed) incident, but I dont think its a case of "get them out of my club" as many on here are suggesting.

Look at us - all trying and hanging them already!

We don't know the FACTS; they haven't been tried.

Maybe we should all reserve our judgement until the truth is known :smt102

Just a thought.

Good post. I have become somewhat weary of Ponty's recent antagonistic approach too. Seeing as he is a mod, it strikes me as being abuse-of-position. But I suppose he would just point out he has a right of free speech too.

I personally think if Saints players strut about Southampton in the evening at the weekend like they are king shiit, looking down their noses at everybody but actually have just contributed to an utterly dire team performance with an utterly crap one of their own, they deserve a bit of mouth.

I once had a right pop at Simon Charlton in New York, New York one Saturday night in the mid-90's for exactly the same reason. Bouncer told me he agreed with what I said because he has also seen the match that afternoon, but I had to cool it or he'd throw me out nevertheless...

A regular poster on here decked Kevin Davies when he was acting billy big ******s in a bar in Soton after another awful preformance.

My ex-neighbour in Sholing had a right pop at James Beattie in Dock Gate 4 one Saturday night for the same reason. Beattie replied "My goals have kept you up in recent seasons".

Note the use of "you" instead of "us", which my neighbour went to great lengths to point out to me when telling the story.

Given the way the story (and thats all it is I reckon) is written, I dont think its true. If the lad had given the footy players grief while they were on a night out, then the footy players should have messed him up a bit more. I wont believe it until theres evidence..

Exactly, shouldn't still be here, not because he's a ***t but because he's an extremely bad footballer. This is where the old management have left a terrible legacy for the current one. There are bad players, some of whom may be bad

people to boot, who we just can't weed out because they're on too much money

to be of interest to anyone else. It's a problem we've had for several years. Players who were respectable and performed reasonably elsewhere have just turned into complete dump the moment they put a foot inside our club.

I blame Burley of course. He is the root cause of all of our current problems. I also blame of course anyone who should have sacked him 2 years ago and didn't.

Back in the prem days, the players used to go to a club in Bournemouth.

They would hire the whole VIP suite and get ****ed up with their friends without the hassle.

Beattie, Bridge and some younger members of the squad used to hire a coach for after Saturdays home match and go on the lash.

tbf i didnt really know enough about BWP when we signed him,he showed a couple of flashes of what he can do and came off the bench and scored a couple of goals.by all accounts he is a popular member of the squad but at his age he should have pulled away from just being a sub/bit part player.i think his true level of competence is lower than us tbh so if all this is true it wouldnt be a great loss if he was kicked out of the club,he is over paid (£5K) so it will be a saving to us.

it is obvious to me now that we paid for the name,a name that by all accounts seems to have a chip on its shoulder and a problem with authority.

I blame who hired him.

As head coach and not a manager in charge of scouting and recruiting.

Lowe should have sacked him as well, after the home disaster against Ipswich back in January 2006. He didn't and gets his share of the blame in Burley's continued single handed destruction of the club.
