Fitzhugh Fella Posted 20 February, 2009 Share Posted 20 February, 2009 That has really angered me - desribing the marchers as young kids is very patronising and reminds me when Branfoot made a similar remark when referring to the car park protests. mesaint Posted 20 February, 2009 Share Posted 20 February, 2009 What a fecking ****! he's been at the club 2 mins and knows us so well does he. Well i was on the protest march last time & i'll be on it again this time, i'm a season ticket holder from the dell and all the time we've been at St Mary's and i'm 50 years old, hardly a kid. We really do need to get rid of lowe & his brigade! I urge everyone young & Old to take part in the protest tomorrow. Let these people know they are not wanted, make them feel very uncomfortable. GET OUT OF OUR CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COYS
John Smith Posted 20 February, 2009 Share Posted 20 February, 2009 It really comes to something when you read forum posts in the local rag. I take it Wotte either did not see or refuses to acknowledge that probably the most poignant part of the protest last time, and the piece covered widely, was the elderly lady giving up her ST. I have not criticised Wotte up to this point, and worst, I have suggested that he comes across badly at times. I was even going to comment on the thread about him going to War and point out that at the end of the article, he'd admitted they'd made mistakes and was trying to put them right, even in his a*se about way, for me, acknowledgment of failure, is the first step to recovery. But then this! Balance tipped, respect lost. Uber fans and kids, man, isn;t that just rattling the cage of the upcoming protest. This guy either just doesn;t understand the situation OR and IMO is deliberately insighting the fans! And I say this because of the Wilde threat incidents, the way Lowe treats people and our current predicament. Has ANYBODY got any links where such a long list of attacks has been placed against the fans??? I'm sorry but this is close to deliberately in sighting riotous behaviour. This maybe a bit extreme, but you keep adding up these comments and eventually he is going to flick the right switch, push the right (self destruct) button and boom! We have ourselves all out fighting and ABH! I'm in no way condoning this reaction, nor calling for it. I suggest, that people are encouraged to call this man to task through the proper channels and that is to write to the club and the local MP. This guy has been here 5 mins whilst some of the fans he is patronising have been supporters of this club for 30 years and then some! If he doesn't know this, he is the dumbest, thickest must stupid man ever to have managed in the public arena. If he does know this, then it is deliberate incitement and he should be brought to task NOW! If you think this is over the top from me, think about Wilde and the threats made against him. Real or not, there are obviously people out there that want to do harm to this club. Let's make sure those people are contained within the club and stop the scum from leaking out. The jury on Wotte is now out for me, he has lost my support. P.S. out of interest, I suggest we start looking at his public comments in his previous roles, this could give us some important insights of his previous failures! saintjay77 Posted 20 February, 2009 Share Posted 20 February, 2009 I can see why his comments have got your lots back up but apart from the kids bit what is he saying that is so wrong? He asked if the protesters are really supportive or if there waiting for us to go down? So if the protesters are also boycotting the games is that being supportive? Most of the talk over this season has been talking about boycotting so again that is not being supportive of the team is it? You can see in some of the comments after the report that there are some who want him to fail as it somehow provides more amunition to get rid of Lowe and Co. So again, what is he saying that is so wrong? IMO he should keep his mouth shut and get on with the job to get some points on the board. Him getting involved in the politics will do nothing but anger the fans both supportive and unsupportive But as he has said something look at it and tell me how much in his quote is so bad? Points 1st IMO If he is asked a question about the fans, which i would probably guess he was, then he has to give an answer. A simple "no comment" would get misconstrued on here by so many as to whether he was told to give that answer by his "master" or that he backs the protesting fans as he wants more boardroom support etc. He did the right thing and said the right thing. If that hurts the protesters it's fine by me. You really don't have to be a Lowe Luvvie to be anti protest, as this thread is proving.

Chap in the Chapel Posted 20 February, 2009 Share Posted 20 February, 2009 Very poor comments from Mark Wotte. The fans have been mostly right behind the team when inside the stadium, and in return for what? It's a bit of a cheek complaining about the ones who are still showing up and paying their money, regardless of whether they're protesting outside against the incompetence of the board, when there are so many fans staying away as a result of the team's abysmal home form, something that Wotte has had an integral part in. The fans will still be coming to games and supporting Saints long after Wotte has been sacked and skulked back into obscurity in the Low Countries. It is nothing to do with Lowe. Christ, a protest proves nothing and does nothing. It simply lets a lot of people who don't like us being crap get together. Great! I have made quite a few connections to the protesters and the sketches in Life of Brian, manily headed by John Cleese where there is no point to their group and it's actions, and to be honest, it more or less mirrors the protesters on here. My complaints in recent years have been over poor football quality and players lacking passion. I would far rather pay money to watch entertaining football played by guys who want to play for the club, that pay to watch the rubbish I saw last year. The results haven't been good this year, especially at home, and on the face of it, that is hard to take. But for those that still go to the games, you will see a much more entertaining brand of football. We have outplayed almost everyone this season, and our defeats are a result of naive defending more than anything else. The players are young though and will improve. I think we'll continue to improve and learn and finish around 16th this season. I don't even think we'll be playoff contenders next season, but the season after, assuming most of the players stay, I think we'll be in a great position to get promotion. We may lose one or two along the way such as Lallana (who lets face it belongs in the Premiership), but I think we have every reason to be positive about what is now going on at the club. For the first time in a long time, I see a long term sustainable plan in place to get us back in the Premiership. And that is a vast improvement over the short termist strategies employed in recent seasons. ...

If the march is going to turn our form around, make the players better and mean we survive relegation this season then I'm in! Maybe not. But just the fact the last was being planned seemed to force the board into some sort of action to address the issue of JP. Maybe if the thought of this march get's Wotte to train them hard and properly so they might actually get three points for only the second time in three months, than yes, maybe you should go and join them.
