SaintRobbie Posted 17 March, 2009 Share Posted 17 March, 2009 I bet one name doesn't get mentioned to much. The fans. Without the little pressure we have exerted we'd still have JP and the totally crazy Dutch Fottball idea. The fans will be the only people who will have saved the club IMHO. Not Wotte - he was here from the start of the farce. Not Lowe - he created the farce. Not Wilde - he put in the farce. Not the young players - they have been exposed as a farce (not their fault). Not the experienced players - who have tried to undo the farce but may have lost the inpetus. THE FANS FOR REVERSING THE TOTAL FOOTBALL YOUTH POLICY THROUGH PROTEST. Victor Posted 17 March, 2009 Share Posted 17 March, 2009 But it made Nigel Pearson a "successful English manager" ??? Yep, Pearson deserved praise for taking over a demoralised team that was heading for oblivion and shaking them up so that the unthinkable was avoided. Very different situation from that at the club now. If things were to change between now and the end of the season I shall be delighted to praise anyone I feel was resposible for the turnaround. saintwarwick Posted 17 March, 2009 Share Posted 17 March, 2009 Yep, Pearson deserved praise for taking over a demoralised team that was heading for oblivion and shaking them up so that the unthinkable was avoided. But under Pearson we continued heading into oblivion to such an extent that we were in a relegation spot in the penultimate game of the season and only a win plus results going our way was the only thing stopping us getting relegated. Would he have got so much praise if we got relegated?

Would he have got so much praise if we got relegated? no. thats the fine lines and fickleness of fans, there was a lot of moans on appointment, and in the middle of his time here when we should have been pulling away, but when the final league table was written we stayed up and were happy. Would he have got so much praise if we got relegated? Yet again you fail to recognise that looking at the performance of all sides over the last 14 games of that season Saints haul was one position and one point below half way. Pearson was unlucky in that some of the other teams fighting against relegation played with play off form or better over those 14 games. But don't let facts spoil your sad and continued jealousy of Leicester's appointment of a good manager.
Sheff Saint Posted 18 March, 2009 Share Posted 18 March, 2009 Wotte if we stay up, no doubt. Whatever his involvement before hand, he'd deserve credit for turning it around. And Davies. I have nothing against Pearson but his won three, drawn seven and lost three of last season took us into relegation mode and that last game (of the three wins) got us out of the mire courtesy of Leicester (and Coventry). These are facts, deal with it.
Charlie Wayman Posted 18 March, 2009 Share Posted 18 March, 2009 My friend, you are living in cloud cuckoo land. We are already down if you do the math. Even Barnsley won last night so who are we supposed to catch? http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/DivisionalLeagueTable/0,,10794~20087,00.html We need two from three to do worse than us and we haven't even won the game in hand yet! Let's be sensible, goal difference won't be playing any part in this year's run-in so it's down to wins and that's down to scoring goals and we can't do either very well this year. The fiasco's against Derby & QPR sealed our fate

Would he have got so much praise if we got relegated? OK, I apologise, on reflection I agree you're right. Dodd and Gorman were just getting a really good run of results together that would have propelled us to the play-offs, and then along came Pearson and all their good work was undone. We dropped back down the league only to be saved on the last day by the fact that there were 4 teams even worse than us. He is just a ballboy masquerading as a football manager, he hasn't got a clue. His wife is ugly and his children bite the heads off worms. They will soon find him at Leicester for the charlatan that he is. A pox on you, Pearson. It's easy to criticise with hindsight but risks had to be taken and it was always possible that mistakes would be made. I agree that things probably could/should have been done differently but we can only speculate and it's in the past now. Also, we nearly lost our place in the CCC last season remember, without Lowe's cost-cutting measures.

In my humble opinion we have been badly let down by a bunch I genuinely know as The Lavender Hill Mob...They really do make me laugh.:---) An intelligent board of Directors would have appointed someone who knew what they were doing..As proven this season they chose Lowe and Wilde who have not only failed at the football club they have failed once again when it comes to finances. But do not let our Pom Poms get in the way of good formation or line dancing...We luv you Rupes and Mikey...:smt049 Piiisss UPPP IN BREWERY springs to mind.
