Alain Perrin Posted 3 April, 2009 Share Posted 3 April, 2009 I've thought of a way we can pack 60,000 into St Mary's for each of the home games left. I'd call it - "Saints in trouble, I'll pay double" I'm a Season Ticket holder and I'll happily buy my seat again for one or all of the remaining fixtures. Give walkups the chance to buy 1 for the price of 2. The ticket office just need to be set up to accept this. At half time Saints could announce the real attendance and the virtual attendance - a visible demonstration of fan support, with a good media spin. Even someone like Alpine (in the sense that he's too far away to travel, as opposed to him being a miserable **** ) could buy a ticket and be 'virtually there'. I appreciate that for some it isn't an option financially, but for others it would be possible. I don't want to be in the position of not having a club next season. What do you think? Bailey Posted 3 April, 2009 Share Posted 3 April, 2009 I think that's a decent shout. I'd certainly be willing to pay double. Email the ticket office and inform us of their response. The more ideas us fans come up with, the better.
Alain Perrin Posted 3 April, 2009 Author Share Posted 3 April, 2009 Will do, I'll email them. Show your support here if you think it's a go-er. No point doing it if there isn't the appetite / willingness / ability.

niceandfriendly Posted 3 April, 2009 Share Posted 3 April, 2009 I think it'd work. As you say, not all would, but when prompted on the spot whether they'd like to pay double to support the club, I'd imagine a good percentage of fans would be willing and able. Bevans Posted 3 April, 2009 Share Posted 3 April, 2009 Great idea, especially if those who for whatever reason can't make the match / matches can still buy a 'ticket' thus sticking more money in the club and showing their support to a prospective buyer. Also it would only be like paying for a premiership game these days and I'm sure most of us would still be paying premiership prices if we were still in that league. Amesbury Saint Posted 3 April, 2009 Share Posted 3 April, 2009 I think it is a great idea. But we still need to get 30,000 into the ground. The whole of Southampton and surrounding area needs to be motivated to help. We need an inspired leader who brings all the goodwill, ideas and people together. ando Posted 4 April, 2009 Share Posted 4 April, 2009 What about being able to buy a virtual ticket. I and may other fans live overseas with no chance of getting to a game but it would be nice to be a part of doing something for the club on matchday. These could also be added to the "official attendance" figure
Alain Perrin Posted 4 April, 2009 Author Share Posted 4 April, 2009 ----snip---- Hello David, I am sure you have had plenty of ideas about raising money for Saints, so I'll keep this brief. Why not let fans (including season ticket holders) buy their seat more than once for one of the remaining games this season and see how many virtual fans you can get into St Mary's. At half time Saints could announce the real attendance and the virtual attendance - a visible demonstration of fan support, with a good media spin. Even long distance fans could buy a ticket and be 'virtually there'. Probably best to target a single game for maximum impact - imagine if we could get 60,000. To ease the load on your staff, you could set up an item in the Saints online store that people could buy as a 'ticket' and, if something has to be sent (for legal or process reasons), you could send out a blank ticket saying 'I was there'. Give us the opportunity to help and we will. Kind Regards, --- snip ---

Same pricing structure as any other match but with some higher prices ticket options. We can then buy tickets for the Save our Saints "match". I suggest they still send out tickets for this virtual match. The match day ticket can be dated the end of the administration period.

ooohTerryHurlock Posted 6 April, 2009 Share Posted 6 April, 2009 Great idea. As it was, having bought the tickets for the Charlton match at a reduced rate, I had already decided that I would pay the £18 saving back to the club. Great Idea - Its just amazing that the first two games after going into admin are two of just four games this season that were marketed to encourage people to come back to football - too little to late!. I'm a ST holder and would happily rip it up and buy again, but I think we do need to look at David Luker'srole in all this - seriousily we have been trotting out ideas all season on this forum and practically doing the blokes job for him. What salary is he on and does anyone know if he is deffering anypart of it?? I'm not proposing a witch hunt but even in admin all we have come up with officially is send a cheque in to the ticket office. Personally there is massive ammounts of good will out there and I like hundreds/thousands more will be happy to donate to Save our Club and pretty much do anything I can without any gaurantees but Blindly sending money to the ticket office without any clear view on the direction we are taking should be viewed with a little bit of caution. The club can raise a lot of money in a short space of time but this money needs to be channeled and used wisely.

Wes Tender Posted 6 April, 2009 Share Posted 6 April, 2009 100% positive response so far. Thats a first. It just goes to show that despite all the factionalised wrangling over the past few years, we are all united in our love for our club and will not quietly sit back and allow it to sink into oblivion if there is anything we can do to save it. The Spirit of Southampton has lain dormant recently and is resource that can be tapped by the right people to propel ourselves forward once more. Raven on the wing Posted 6 April, 2009 Share Posted 6 April, 2009 Why not a Saints over 25's v under 25's to raise extra cash. The age to be adjusted if we didnot have enough over 25's !

StuRomseySaint Posted 6 April, 2009 Share Posted 6 April, 2009 (edited) 100% positive response so far. Thats a first. I think it is a rubbish idea. ;-) I do however think that a 'ficticious' game should be set up.... one with varying levels of ticket pricing for different areas. For example... Chapel - £10 Northam - £20 Kingsland - £50 Itchen - £100 Corporate - £1000 People can buy as many tickets as they like - ie, if someone can afford £30 then they buy 1 x Chapel ticket and 1xNortham Ticket. All people get is a ticket to the game as a memento, called 'Save our Saints' etc... Much easier from an administrative point of view, so it does not get mixed up with 'real' takings. I imagine that seperating real takings with donations could be an issue for the 'double tickets' Edited 6 April, 2009 by StuRomseySaint
StuRomseySaint Posted 6 April, 2009 Share Posted 6 April, 2009 Just to add to my idea, an alternative to this would be to hold an open-day or 'benefit game' , Craig David singing, Lucy Pinder walking round with her nipples out, watch training and a training match, team of 76 parading the FA Cup ( mind you, we will have to borrow it off the skates, yuck ) , legends from all eras appealing, either in person of video messages etc etc.... Charge people a reasonable amount, maybe a tenner, 10 x £32,000 = £320,000, People are free to donate what they want, with a minimum ticket price of £10 With minimal work, alot of money can be made, if they use their imagination. All i can say at this time is that the legends have been contacted and are in the process of sorting out celebrities to play in the game. I believe Eastleigh have agreed in princible to hold the game but still to hear back from SFC about it taking place at St Marys Stadium. This is all i know at this time but once venue and date is sorted i will post on hear and hope as many as you can make it. Will be auctioning of a place in the team etc............... If people feel the inclination to make their extra donations to funds in the club's hour of need, then why should others be critical of them? Ken Tone Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 Have just sent this to David Luker: David Sorry -- another supporter interrupting your work! This may well be better forwarded to the administrator; I'm sending it to you as I do not have his contact details, and it is related to ticket sales. Please pass on if you think it appropriate. I realise that the club could not and cannot legally sell season tickets for next season its current parlous state. However it would send a very positive signal to potential investors if they knew that thousands of fans would definitely buy a ST if they could. So might there be some facility for fans to pledge to buy season tickets for next season, as soon as the club's future is secure, regardless of which division we are in ? The club could either publicise 2 prices, one for each division, or just set a figure regardless. Fans could then 'pay' in advance with the money not actually being taken from accounts/cards until the club was formally solvent again. This would, as I say, encourage investors, but also from the administrator's point of view, show that keeping the club alive is the best way to ensure that creditors have the best chance of getting their money. Midfield_General Posted 7 April, 2009 Share Posted 7 April, 2009 I can't believe how little effort the club seems to be making to solicit donations. We go out of business in 3 weeks unless we can find half a million quid down the back of the sofa, but looking at the OS, you would hardly know there's even a problem. For example: - No flash on the landing page saying that the club is accepting donations and how to do it if you want to (e.g. linking to an online payment system or at least a phone number) - No big or visible link on the homepage saying the same thing - Nothing in the navigation - No post on here - No email sent to their database etc etc It really doesn't take that long to do this stuff. One day max. if they put their minds to it. Get your finger out boys, the clock is ticking
