StuRomseySaint Posted 23 April, 2009 Author Share Posted 23 April, 2009 only 2 punches, shame on them for not giving the bloke a proper lesson To be fair, I don't agree with the 'largest supporter groups' statement... A lad was p!ssed and acted up, one OB laid the boot in, big deal, happens all the time. Say what you like about our OB, they are one of the fairest sets around and won't nick you unless they really need to, and if they do, you have to do something seriously wrong for them to tag it as football related. I have a mate on a 3 year ban because he tried to get into Luton 'whilst under the influence of alcohol' and another who is now banned for getting thrown to the floor by OB at Derby and asking 'what the f*ck was that for' . Our police are not nearly as heavy handed as they are in other towns.

StuRomseySaint Posted 23 April, 2009 Author Share Posted 23 April, 2009 Exactly, compare them to the Heddlu! I would say that Greater Manchester Police get the title as the most w*nkerish police, with the Midlands Police not far behind, with Heddlu in 3rd place. ecuk268 Posted 23 April, 2009 Share Posted 23 April, 2009 The more mature amongst us (ie sad old gits) will remember seeing the odd fracas on the Milton Road end in the 70's. The coppers would wade in and give a good hiding to anyone within reach. No camera phones in those days and no complaints either. If you didn't want to be involved, you just moved out of the way. StuRomseySaint Posted 23 April, 2009 Author Share Posted 23 April, 2009 Your detailed knowledge of this speaks volumes :-) It is not knowledge, it is an opinion. I have another opinion.... that you would be quite boring to hold a conversation in a pub with. It's not knowledge though, just an informed opinion. londonsaint1604 Posted 23 April, 2009 Share Posted 23 April, 2009 There was a lot of aggro that day to be fair, if he was among the large group of fans waiting outside the away end looking for trouble then thats his problem, I can see why the police put the boot in. They even had to escort a group of charlton lads all the way to the station. It was all in good fun though!

Windmill Arm 2 Posted 23 April, 2009 Share Posted 23 April, 2009 If you cause trouble at football, gob off to police or behave in a threatening manner (gobbing off to police can be construed as threatening) then you should expect a slap. This country is weak because there are not enough slaps being dished out by teachers in schools and bobbys on the beat. The officer who did the punching only did so as the two other officers with him were trying (unsuccessfully) to prevent others to get involved. He basically had 3 people climbing on him. Micky Posted 23 April, 2009 Share Posted 23 April, 2009 Sorry - and we are meant to be getting upset about THAT. THAT was Police brutality...?? What utter bollux. The guy gets nicked - refuses to comply and it takes 3 OB to sort him out. Personally I think he should have been smacked around the back of the head, loaded in the meat wagon and carted off to the nick - no cerimony. I don't want the police having to sort out knobheads like this - I want them on the beat in the cities and around my neighborhood deterring real bloody villains. spain saint Posted 23 April, 2009 Share Posted 23 April, 2009 I think you have to look at all the police forces across the country using cameras to film people committing crimes whether static cctv or hand held cameras used by their own officers. They are suddenly being filmed by the general public and being caught out! Whether you think it was a tap or a punch, he shouldnt have done it and will probably have to be punished for it! Whats good for the goose is good for the gander!! But why do people antagonise police officers during public order incidents and expect velvet glove treatment? If people don't want to get thumped by the OB then don't go causing trouble in the first place. Our officers don't carry firearms and regularly face drunks being violent towards them and for some reason, people expect them to stand idly by whilst people kick ten bells out of them. This in now way condones the treatment of the guy that died during the G20 protest, but let's not forget that this type of protest attracts professional agitators who have one reason to be there, and it sure as hell ain't peaceful.
