update on Dyer/Saga/Rasiak/Liptak

Continuity (or lack of it) has been a major contributor to our decline recently - so I for one would like to see him stay for the next season. I can't see any mileage in changing yet again - but then if we get new owners they can (and probably will) think otherwise. I fully expect a Wigley/Gray dream team with Merrington as Director of Football and Branfoot managing the Academy.

It shows that Mark Wotte has skills in the Technical Director role. He is showing to me that he can negotiate and communicate with his staff. I like what I read.

However, if I compare this with his management skills and communication to the fans, the jury is still out for me, but for League 1, who knows what we want or need, I don't?

For now, Mark Wotte is doing all that can be expected of him, and more. Fair play and good professionalism, well done.

Wonder if Watford are hoping to keep Rasiak for another year and avoid any fee, now or at end of the season when his contract has expired to sign him, because we need to get him off the wage bill over the summer.

Dyer will go as well. Wotte does seem to be pro-active - but have the nagging suspicion he will go when/if the new owners arrive.

I like what he's saying....

I know it is all about opinions, but I don't. Particularly

"We are studying the League One play-offs closely at the moment to get an idea of the teams at the top end of the table because it is always useful to know how they play," he said. "We are recording the games and sending people to games to get reports which I will be doing as well so that we are well prepared for next season.

"I was in Holland but I watched Burnley beat Reading and Preston draw with Sheffield United on the television as well.

I know he has only been in England for a year but he should know what is required to get out of League One. Most managers seems to talk about watching football whenever they can but he comes across like it is a bit of a chore. Also Scouts are going to games? Good - that is what they are paid for!

I suspect it is a bit of a time filler for the OS and I am probably reading too much into it but it did not fill me with confidence about his knowledge of players and teams in league 1...

No chance we will get any money for Rasiak he will either sign for free or another season long loan.

I dont understand what you are saying Wotte says although he has been in Holland he was watched the play offs and is going to some other games .

Seems OK to me

loans for established players have fees - sometimes large ones.

Blackstock -£300,000 for 3 months. Rasiak???

Great to see him making preparations for next season. 35 days is not a long time, and June 15 will be here before you blink. I would rather have him do the work and have any new owner replace him, rather than sit around waiting until he hears what the plans are then rush around trying to catch up.

Proactive beats reactive in my book.

I also like the fact that he has laid down the law to these guys and stayed that if they can't find a club who pays the requisite fee, they have to report bright and early with the rest. The time for coddling is over!

I like him... he's very open and honest and he's trying his hardest with the difficult job he's got. He also talks a lot of sense. Compare that to Poortvliet who spoke a load of ******** and Burley who talked a load of nothing and didn;t seem to give a shiite.

However, I reckon a new owner will bin him.

I also think his days are numbered but I do admire him for making an effort to secure a future for himself at the club. His recent actions / comments on player committment works at this level.....no player power in the 3rd tier.

Clearly Liptak's loan was up which was why he went back but perhaps Wotte sees an opportunity for a permanent signing. Seems a step down for Liptak though...

Wotte will stay. Of that I am sure but if we have new owners you cannot blame them for wanting to apponit 'their own man'. In which case I hope they will retain Wotte as the academy manager (otherwise they will have to pay him off).

Fair play to Wotte for being pro-active and preparing for next season despite all the uncertainty surrounding both his and the club's future. Having said that, I wouldn't expect anything less and he'd be slated pn here if he wasn't seen to be readying himself for life in League One.

Dyer will end up joining Swansea on a permanent basis IMO, and I wouldn't be surprised if Rasiak joined Watford for another season-long loan as it would mean he'd be available to sign on a free at the end of the season. I'm not so sure that Liptak is what we need though. I'd rather we signed a proven and experienced defender who is a leader both on and off the pitch. Someone like Darren Purse would be ideal but unless we get taken over by some people who have a bit of money, then that would be a tad unrealistic.

I agree Wotte seems to be acting very professionally and I like what we are hearing. We can't really ask or expect any more from the guy with the situation being as it is. Whether he stays or goes, fair play to him!

I was a bit concerned about his comments about watching/monitoring the play-offs to see how the teams played, Burnley v Reading and Sheff Utd v Preston. I would have been more impressed if he had mentioned watching Leeds v Millwall and S****horpe v MK Dons. We will be playing 3 of them next season. Burnley, Reading, Sheff Utd & Preston are history, for at least a year, really don't give a damn if he watched them or not, they are irrelevant.

yes, and that's what he's suspecting too I should think.

I can't see what's so admirable about that?

Understandable yes, self-interest undoubtedly, but admirable?

These articles on the OS are just fluff that he is obliged to participate in while we all wait for real news.

A clean sweep is what's needed IMO, but maybe Svennson still has a part to play

I thought that Liptak had his contract terminated early and was sent back home?

I understood from MW 's comments that Liptak wanted to be back because his home club were in with a chance of a good finish to the season and he wanted to be available for them as cover for injury.

Doesn't mean that he'll suddenly become a regular with them again, so a

return to SMS might not be out of the question.

I like Wotte. He has looked people in the eye (metaphorically at least) and told it as it is.

I think he would be as good as anybody for next season and better than most.

I would expect that the qualities that we might seek in our next manager would be a bit more than the ability to look people in the eye and tell it how it is.

I'd be looking for somebody who commands the respect of his players, a strict disciplinarian who expects his players to be super fit and professional in their approach to their job. I'd also favour somebody who has heaps of experience in British football at this level, either as a player making the stepup into management and showing promise, or else as somebody who has succeeded in getting teams out of this division. They'd also have a decent network of contacts and know who those players were who would give their all to the cause.

Frankly, from the evidence that I've seen of Wotte, he's not ticking many of those boxes with me and I wouldn't lose any sleep if he returned to Holland.

Quite an interesting update on Dyer (below link) - the last paragraph appears to suggest that Dyer's salary will fall substantially due to relegation "his contract is good for us in League One - he's not a very expensive player for us there". This could of course be a bit of brinkmanship from Wotte.

I must say the writer appears to have little understanding on why we loaned him out in the first place though...

Phil Sumbler is the Chairman of the Swansea City Supporters Trust who have two directors on the board of SCFC, so he really has no excuse to not be in-the-know. (That is an extremely popular site BTW although I stopped posting there about 6 months ago.)

You're right he does show little understanding of why SFC loaned out Nathan. A whinge from Mr Sumbler there.

It's a pointless article in all honestly. I don't personally believe Mr Wotte has any say whatsoever in who comes or goes other than to say goodbye to those out of contract. His articles on the OS are no more than his online CV. He makes doing nothing seem a very important job. Good for him. I hope the job hunting goes well on his trips back to Holland. I'm sure he'll do some excellent scouting (NOT) watching games on TV while he's out there as well.

When the new owners of SFC finally get their feet under the table, they will of course also want to look tough in transfer negotiations, and waste more time. Martinez will have looked elsewhere by then.

Dyer is NOT staying in Swansea so Mr Sumbler should save his breath.
