bring on the football

How relieving it will be to actually get to my seat at the Northam to watch football again.

Lets hope we can not only do that but have the weight of boardroom politics be left as a thing in the past. Bring on L1, we wont walk it but perhaps we will hqave the joy of watching our 11 mercenaries kicking a bag of air better than the opposition mercenaries can.

I, for one, can't wait for the season to get started.... I am actually more into the Saints than ever.... Just want this admin stuff sorted and ready to tick a few off the 92.... I am in the high 50's (grounds not age!) so the opportunity to see saints have alittle tour round some of these 'proper' football grounds is quite exciting. Just wish we could be signing up for season tickets now. I know its a risk and against the law but I think it would help as it would show potential owners the strengh (taking the positive stance again so just waiting for C.B.Fry et al to pour there half empty negativity all over my post) of the support the club has. Can't wait for the start of the season and of course it is a world cup year so its double bubble on the footy front!!!

Can you believe the Cup Final is on May 30th? Crazy, too long, too many games.

But even two months off seems too long as well! Looking forward to visiting 7 new grounds for me to take me into the 80s (or will it be back to the 80s?!!)

Ah, it's the new international fixtures model, make the non-major Championship years like '09 end late, bolt a bunch of internationals onto the end and then :

a) the break seems shorter and

b) they can also start early the next season and don't have to cram all the fixtures in when the season ends at the end of April/start of May...

...though a short close season doesn't do us many favours in a race against time.

SSN now include us in DIV 1 news, BBC still have us as Championship.

I am actually looking forward to DIV 1 now that reality has set in. Just hope we do kick off the seaon in League 1.

Look on the bright side, Mike Ashley's DirectSports.com website is already displaying Newcastle as a Championship team and he owns them !!!

And we're not in Div 1, we're in League One. Div 1 is either of the two divisions above we've just been messing about in for the last 50 years, depending on your age. League One has never been called Div 1.

Although happy beyond belief that hopefully we will now have a team to support, I am concerned about the small amount of preparation time we will have on and off the field.

For one, if we need to get in some new players depending on who goes, we may be left with the pickings. Organising friendlies is going to be tricky.

Wotte will have plans for the pre season in place in terms of friendlies - if a new boss comes in then he will surely just carry on with these arrangements.

As usual our preparation will be less than perfect. But the club has to plan longer term. We need to be aimimg to build a really good side to get promoted in 2 years time, a team good enough to then compete in the CCC. Any success next season would be a bonus. Short term ism has to be a thing of the past.
