  2. It’s not bull****, peh himself said that he wasn’t working hard enough in training last year, that he had the wrong attitude in training, and that this season he appreciated the need to give more on the training pitch if he wanted to get in the team. He’s worked his way into the first team through sheer bloody mindedness, and part of that comes from decent man management by mope.
  3. He’s been doing them since July 16, no idea how he has been getting on. I say give the guy a chance- and support the saints!
  4. Decent cb who works well in a defensive team setup where he can afford to drift out of position. Doesn’t have the concentration of a world class player, but if he does apply himself he could play for a top 3 prem team, and I assume he will automatically become a regular in the Dutch team now he is at Liverpool. Think he is going to his level, he’s good enough for Liverpool, but not good enough for the big teams. Think he’ll do ok, probably similar career wise to lovren, can see him going to a West Ham or Everton in a few years.
  5. Long will score today.

  7. I'd say we are in the very early stages of a relegation battle, along with half the league. we are currently in a position to survive, but we have to do better in the second half if we want a boring final day. if this was the final week, we'd still have a chance of going down. (we'd also be playing Man City)

The fact that blackface offends a large number of regular humans is reason enough not to do it, regardless of whether you agree with their reasoning or not. If I went out in soton black faced I would expect to get the **** kicked out of me for being a dik.

The people has a 60% hit rate on Southampton rumours, highest of all the papers. They don’t mention us often, but when they do they are actually quite accurate. https://www.footballtransferleague.co.uk/sources/the_people
  10. Conte picked out Austin and Redmond as dangermen for tomorrow. Worried about our pace on the counter.

Man City were keen a couple of years ago. Arsenal like him. Everton fans wanted him when Koeman went there, and Liverpool fans marked him as a followup signing after VVD. It's only really saints fans who don't rate him.
  12. Redmond playing very well, running hard, back to England form if he can add an end product. Brilliant game so far, deffo not boring!
  13. Jwp, cross to Austin, goal. Then, defend defend defend. Forster to take man of the match.
  14. hmmm. pretty sure ****ing in public has been frowned on for a long time.
  15. giving youth a chance doesn't make you ageist. Davis was one of the first names on the sheet, and he is picking wes morgan and fuchs at Leicester.
  16. it's often the case that managers are sacked after a bad run of results, the question is, how would those clubs have done if they kept faith with the manager? is there a table showing crisis points where the manager wasn't sacked, and how they did? Fergie being one famous example. Koeman might be another example - he was sacked after bad results against a lot of the big teams. it's to be expected that their results will improve now, and it won't really be because they sacked koeman. we are an exception perhaps, we had an easy run, and if we sack MP now, we wouldn't expect an upturn, with the fixtures we have coming up. maybe we should let MP waste the Christmas break, then give the new manager an easier run in. the fans aren't patient at the moment, we need the new guy to start strong.

  18. time to make the goals bigger, adjust the offside laws to favour attackers, and make it 5pts for a win. make it so only winners can succeed, and stop teams playing for "0-0 with a chance of nicking something".
  19. player-manager?
  20. not sure - I'm envious of Palace right now, they have Zaha, townsend and benteke and are far more entertaining than us to watch. We're far more embarrassing than them.
  21. Everton at home next. perfect starting game for a new manager, but get him in quick, preferably by end tomorrow, so he can have a short run up at least. hopefully we have our next man lined up?
  22. Gignac would be good, if a bit old. i thought okaka was good at watford, a fresh start could be good for him. bas dost. Jovetic. all could do a job, in combo with a manager who isn't scared to attack.
  23. Saints palace swansea
  24. I'll reword it- I'd rather see us play attacking football, and lose 4-0, than see us now, losing 1-0. If we can stay up with a few good wins, I would accept some bad defeats.
  25. even BFS would be an upgrade right now. The only worse choice than what we have is maybe unsworth, anyone else I could get quite excited about. Maybe Les should take over himself, even that I could get behind. just anyone, anyone at all, who will play a team and tell them to take some risks, this safety first football is just horrible. i'm getting to a point where i'd even enjoy a 4-0 loss more than our current 1-0,0-0,0-1 games, just to see some attacking football on the pitch. maybe it will get better now we are playing some better quality sides.
