it's a squad game, it hasn't been just about the first 11 men for about 30 years now. he got it spot on last week, I'm sure he has a plan, let's see if it works...

That'll put a bump in the road to Barcelona. Wonder where he will end up next? West Ham Leicester maybe, or abroad? If I was him I'd go for la liga. Valencia or someone. Oh no, wait, already ****ed that one up. Maybe a bundesliga side.

we've got tough games coming up. Will having a new manager help much? worse thing we could do is scrap MP, bring in someone new, and they have to lose their first 5 games - our fans don't have that kind of patience at the moment. Better to give MP a chance. if he is able to turn it round and we come out after christmas in the top half, then things will have been going well and he deserves more time. if we lose most of the games, then get rid, bring in a new man and new players in January, and give the new guy some easier games to start with.

It's a phase you'll go through. You think you know it all and the rest of the world is crazy, but as you get even older, you'll realise you were always wrong, that you were just reacting in your own sphere of influence, and as a product of the society you were surrounded by, and you'll recognise the important things in life, whilst understanding the futility of it all, and why people behaved like they did, and then you'll die.

It was a genuine question. I would have been thinking a long time by myself before getting to fishing in grimsby! Thanks for the answer, I'll have a read around.

I've not read the whole thread, I'm sure this has been covered, but could you name, say two, obvious upsides to brexit? I've genuinely not heard of any, but most of my social circle are either from the EU or rely it on it for business, and the media haven't obviously publicised any benefits. I only hear the argument that it won't be as bad as some people say, but I've not actually heard anyone say it won't be bad before!

Yoshi continues to improve. Nice free kick on him. He's always been a handful going forward, we should give him a go in the pelle role.

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
ashnats replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Arguably, as in there is an argument to be had. a quick google reveals plenty of people arguing about it. There are good and bad halal slaughters, and there are good and bad stun slaughters. neither is foolproof, both are designed to be as humane as possible. -
knitting. the clacking of needles would be terrifying if everyone did it, and it doesn't require people to do anything extrovert. plus, by the end of the season, we could have a giant scarf. or, just humming, for minutes on end, followed by a sharp "saints" every few minutes, then back to the humming again. or, if we really want to scare the **** out of the opposition, we could just screech eerily:

not following this thread too closely - is there subtext to this question? Halal meat is arguably more humanely slaughtered than non-halal, so I would think any meat eater should be reasonably happy to eat halal meat. -

We've only drawn Man City in the fa cup at home once, back in 1910. We've drawn them away twice, 1960 and 2007. Not sure that is enough to be perceived as typical saints behaviour just yet.

you basically agree with my point, you just didn't understand what I was getting at.

JWP is a good example of what I call a gauge player. You can use him to identify the sort of fan you are; if you think and say that JWP is a waste of space, then you are probably all about pub-game-sing-goals-pub-home. you watch through a beer glass (metaphorically) and often from the ends. you enjoy the fist pumping adrenaline of the game and are not so bothered about strategy or intellectual pursuits. probably slightly lower IQ, or drunk. you watch the ball, and you reward heart, big tackles, big goals, and assists. If you think JWP is a super-talented England future captain, then you are probably more interested in tactics, shape and strategy. you watch from the sides or on TV and you are enthralled by off-the-ball movement. you watch the team and are interested in how different players work together. you may have a slightly higher IQ, and you probably don't sing much at the match. you notice build up movement, and not just the assist and the goal at the end. you are middle class and probably a bit of an areshole. If you think JWP is a decent player with a good football brain, a superb delivery that we don't make the most of, and who has the potential to be better than we have seen so far, (and who must be good if Man City continue to monitor), then you are a rational fan. you watch the team, you support the players, you cheer when we score and you slump in your seat when we concede. you appreciate any player who gives it his best. (except Forster, who is currently devil incarnate and can do no right).

this time next year we could be playing league games at Fratton Park (and dean court)

Partly agree, but think we need to create chances for it to be a good result. A goal would be awesome. Happy with a 3-1 or 4-1 defeat, with minimum 3 shots on goal.

Need a good team talk half time, this is where mope needs to earn his money. Game still on, bring long and lemon on and coyr!

no - he inferred he was following his catholicism - in which case it is perfectly ok (recommended in fact) to get rid of the baby after birth, via an orphanage where it can be subjected to whatever.

thanks for posting, interesting read. seems likely that VVD's old agent just thought that he could sign a new contract, take the extra cash, and still move anyway because we were perceived as a club that will always sell. Interesting to see the outside perspective on us from within the game - but we will certainly have altered that perception this summer. Agents will no longer be able to convince the players that they can just ****** all over the clubs and do what they like. (with Saints at least). can only be a good thing for us. reading this makes it clear to me that if we had have sold him, players and agents would just keep doing this to us again and again, so kudos to the club for standing firm.

Thanks! everyone - you can stop speculating now, it's decided, he never plays for us again - we can lock the thread now.
