I think it is down to position, he is sick of playing wing back, and conte was offering a wing back role. Klopp gave him a cuddle and told him he could play in the middle.
-
Mirror described him as "imperious" yesterday. Every minor error is being pounced on by some, but he is still a quality keeper, and the stats don't lie, a clean sheet is a win for him, and he gets a lot of them.

This. Rumours are Liverpool are offering the best terms and that is why he chose them. It's not going to be for footballing reasons, that's for sure!

give him to Liverpool on a free. agent gets nothing that way. "there you go, you little ****, have your move, you're not worth anything you odius ********, now get out of our club". I really don't think Liverpool will be a good move for him, happy to see him go there and get his comeuppance - ditto man city, they are 'big' moves to clubs that don't suit that type of player - he needs to go to a well organised defensive unit. Chelsea would be by far the best club for him, career speaking. In that way, I'd rather see him go to liverpool than chelsea. he'd be a beast at chelsea. at sea at liverpool.

If you can't be happy after a 3-2 score line falls our way with a last minute (brilliant) penalty, and all you can think about is how you don't like our goalkeeper, or how our young centre back isn't a 70m player, or our young winger only got one assist and hit the bar, or how one of our players made a clumsy challenge and got away without a yellow, it's time to stop 'supporting' the saints, and either pick a glory team, Man Utd would be good for this season, or, just give up football. Move on. You will never be happy here.

Insane. Yoshida one of the best players on the pitch. Could have had a hat trick. Was solid, and yes, he tries hard- that's not a bad thing you know. And yes, he's a nice guy, also not a bad thing, not sure why people think it's a criticism to say someone tries his best and is a nice guy. Weirdos.

There has been a lot said on all sides so far, some true, some less true. clearly, VVD has made some mistakes and is a **** of the highest order. HOWEVER, some things are more important than football, and I think we have to unite in our prayers for Virgil, put our differences aside, and hope to god that he recovers from what sounds like a nasty virus. He is still human, and we should treat him with some respect and pray for his life as I'm sure his family must also be doing right now. my thoughts and prayers are with him.

Football is different though. In that hypothetical, I could hand my notice in and in 3 months sign with the new company, probably get a nice leaving card and crate of beer, and a leaving party. And I probably would do. VVD cannot do that. he signed a contract which ties him to the club for 6 years. even if you bend reality and add that component to the hypothetical, there is still a way to do things. 'somebody' approaches you, you refer them straight to the correct channels. "sounds interesting, contact my club, because they hold my registration". no reason why a)Liverpool couldn't have followed the correct 'protocol', like Chelsea did, or b)why VVD had to go for clandestine meetings, with multiple clubs, and then turn around and bad mouth his employer because he got caught. Even as of yesterday, he could have released a statement similar to Mahrez, stating that he regrettably is handing in a transfer request, without trying to pretend saints did anything wrong. no-one said he refused to train, only that he refused to play. if he doesn't refuse to play, I'd like us to play him v Swansea, see if he has the guts to turn up for it, or whether he pulls a Lallana.

no, but it would be naïve to think that none of those deals were connected. especially Robertson / Stewart. but even actual swap deals can happen, it's not nonsense just to suggest it. Matic for Luiz was a pretty good one not so long ago.
-
defoe / grabban Pickford / Galloway + browning Lukaku / rooney Robertson / Stewart Yarney / Gibson so far this summer. nowadays it still happens, but the deals are organised and presented separately.
