Forget League One, how many teams in the Championship wouldn't be happy with a straight swap for those three? You can probably count them on the fingers of one hand.

No question about his Prem potential. I think he's one of those players who'll get better and better against higher class oppo. Certainly needs to add goals to his portfolio though. Has he scored for us yet? Bit worried about someone like Strachan chucking in cheeky bids for Morgan and Adam in January. Think Pards and Marcus would both say no, but it does have an unsettling effect. And I suspect we need to sneak up this year to keep them both in the summer. Ten wins on the trot would do nicely for starters...! Laptop

That's probably what you thought about Brighton... But you're right it should be a formality. And I'm a bit nervous about it too. Would actually prefer 1-0 to 4-1 bizarrely. Bvgger the goal difference, I just want a clean sheet.

What that man said. We fell flat on our faces - it was going to happen one day. I really didn't see it coming against Brighton, but I'm sure Man Utd fans didn't expect to lose at Burnley. Nothing wrong with the players expecting to win as long as it doesn't mean they forget to turn up. I suspect a few Staplewood rollickings this week will blow those particular cobwebs away. We've had a losing mentality around this club for so long and it's bloody fantastic to have a winning one. Losing one game we should be winning is a right p1sser to start the week on. But it's not the end of the world FFS.

At least we won't underestimate Norwich.
-
Sorry, can't. What a load of ****e. Players believed their own propaganda. Back to the training ground, and make em work ****ing hard Pards.
-
Put it another way, I reckon Southampton away would have been the tie everyone else would have hoped to avoid. Norwich will be tough. But if we play as well as we can we'll win.
-
You'd be surprised what gets broadcast around the world. I watched AFC Wimbledon v Wycombe Wanderers in the first round of the FA Cup last year in a hotel room in Mumbai. Wycombe strolled it by the way - big ginger lad got a hat-trick.
-
If Pards wants to start with 4-5-1 again I'd like to see Oscar Gobern given a go in the Wotton role. Really shone for the ressies last week by all accounts, and I always thought he had something about him even at our lowest points. If it doesn't work we know we can revert to Plan B - Connolly off the bench and 4-4-2. Result!
-
Also noticed from that form table that Bristol Rovers have lost five on the trot. Bodes well for a bit of FA Cup revenge. Time for that first Saints' hat-trick, Rickie?
-
As has already been said, we're bound to fall flat on our arses at some point and lose to a sh1t team. But I just can't see it happening tomorrow - we look too strong at the moment. At no point during the MK game did I lose confidence that we would win - even just after their free kick went in. I'd love to find some odds for us winning ten league games in a row. Norwich at home will be tough but we have a good run coming up. Orient 0 Saints 2

Surely the most relevant point about Papa is that he's played less than a handful of games in English football. Italian footie makes totally different demands. So it's a bit daft for Merrington to say Papa has no football brain - he has talent, he has enthusiasm, above all he has pace... Now he needs to be coached. So let's give him a chance and see how he develops...
-
Wotton has been embarrassingly pants every time I've seen him play. That"s not rocket science, it's fact. FACT. If he's done well today hats off to him though.

Can anyone see Cortese putting up with this much longer ?

Good article - and shows what's being built behind the scenes. Taking care of the non-playing staff, building an academy which produces players with steel as well as skill, money to spend if we need it but not 'doing it large' to get out of League One. Can't argue with any of that. Unless I was an impatient supporter with little understanding of how long it takes to turn any company round... -
Thanks euro. My blood pressure was rising as i read some of the comments on this thread. A five year plan - constructed by INTELLIGENT people...

Always nice to have decent options coming off the bench, that was one of our biggest problems at the start of the season now we have decent cover all over the pitch apart from goal really. Agree - I'd go with Andy's team but wth Morgan replacing Lloydy. And if it's not going well, get Holmes on early doors. As has been said on this site before, Morgan played some of his best footie for us when he had Holmes hugging the touchline as an outlet for his passing.

I agree - I wouldn't bring your best mate into home seats, it's asking for trouble. With the vast majority it would just be banter, but it only takes one tw-A-t. And if the Gills go 2-1 up in the 95th minute he won't be popular with far more than one tw-A-t!
-
The great thing is we have options. Murty, Jaidi, Perry, Hammond would all command instant respect. Given injuries and likely playing time throughout the season I agree Hammo is the most sensible choice. Good that we've moved on from playing the academy though!
-
Didn't see the game on Saturday but from what I've read and seen so far this season, this is our team for Carlisle: Kelvin Wayne (presuming Murty still out), Jaidi, Rodney Trotter, Harding Papa (pushing up), Hammo, Morgan, Mills Lambert, Lallana With Mills taking the corners and Saga on the bench. I still have happy memories of his hat-trick at Molyneux but **** me that was a while ago. Thoughts? (Cue Lallana/Morgan bashers...)

Well, we are where we are. There are no easy games in this division. BUT THIS IS YEOVIL TOWN FFS! YEOVIL - SLOPING PITCH, GIANT-KILLERS, JUMPERS FOR GOALPOSTS, YEOVIL ****ING TOWN!!! 2-0 Saints. Come. On. You. Reds.
-
We've still won **** all. It'll come though.
-
Actually I think singing that one after a few beers away to carlisle might be a bit of a laugh.
-
If Papa has a permit he has to play. Already a legend.* *disclaimer: he may be ****, but we hope not.
-
True - but one thing that seems obvious about AP is that he's buying and/or loaning players that he thinks should be first team regulars. Not reserve team bench warmers like last season.
