  1. Can't wait.... Text to mates on Monday -- 'we've just signed the new zidane'. Why let the facts get in the way of a good line?! Exciting times... COYR
  2. That was a great day at the Lane, wasn't it? Beattie I think in the first minute and it just got better. The 'We want Hoddle out say we want Hoddle out' chant at the end was bleedin' deafening. Bye Glenn.
  3. There will be hysterical pessimism on here until we win our first game. Then there will be hysterical optimism. That's football, innit? I'm still expecting a decent season, and mid table-ish finish. IF that happens, and we don't sell half the youngsters next summer, I think we can push for the playoffs next season. Should be fun whatever. COYS
  4. Mate of mine who has the misfortune to be a Chelsea fan (has been since 1970 to be fair) says he's a brilliant prospect. Here's hoping.
  5. I'm not sure why it indicates he's got more 'class' than Kevin Phillips either. Just better PR. But Stoke City haven't got a hope in hell of surviving in the Prem. And I'm sure he knows it.
  6. Dear Andrew, See you in the Championship next season. I'm sure you'll get a warm welcome. All the best, Laptop PS Can we have that Player of the Season award back, please.
  7. [quote=saintkiptanui; if you're born in Southampton and like football you should be made to support saints, if you don't you should be extradited to iraq. I like your style.
  8. Fabulous to hear the positive opinions of many who were there. So far we've played -- at my best guess -- a playoff team and the potential champions. And it sounds like we could/should have got a point from both. Results will get better. But I'm still deeply worried about the sale of Davies. He was the LAST player I would have wanted to go. It means we're mortgaging the season on the health of Killer's Knee. Lancashire, Racine may be ones for the future -- but it's a big ask for them to step up right now. Still... can't wait to get back to Blighty and watch a young side playing good footie. Cheers all.
  9. Where do you start? 1) First ever game standing on a wooden box behind the goal in the Archers 2) Channon's testimonial - just incredible 3) The choccy boxes 4) Stevie Williams being arsey 5) The 'Milton Aggro' chant 6) Yellow and Blue woolly scarves 7) Beating Man City in the rain in the run-up to the League Cup final Matt Le Tiss -- many goals 9) Pahars scoring twice v Everton 10) And -- when I was about eight -- Spurs fans on the Commons trying to charge a group of Saints lads and one of them falling into a ditch
  10. Coach in 'keep the same team and don't panic after one game' shock. If everyone's fit the same eleven who started at Cardiff will start against Birmingham. Jan the Man seems to know his own mind, and he's got more confidence in the team than half the people on here.
  11. Back to Saints TV - can anyone tell a new subscriber when match highlights actually get posted? Seeing as it's well over 48 hours since the end of the Cardiff match (and counting)...
  12. And even if he does stay fit it worries me that he'll probably not be able to play midweek games. Hard to go on a decent run if your best player keeps having to sit one out. Whatever -- best of luck Michael. You've earned every minute of it.
  13. ...what an amazing achievement this is. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/aug/10/championship.cardiffcity Kiiillllleerrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. The voice of reason. Are you sure you've come to the right place? Let's get behind a young footballing team and see where we are in a couple of months.
  15. Really? How on earth did I misunderstand you? And stay off the Red Bull. It would only make you more annoying.
  16. 3-1 wouldn't have been all that fantastic in my book. Ever thought of getting a season ticket at Sturm Graz? I'm sure that would be a bundle of laughs.
  17. I think the reason why people get ****ed off with you is that you always seem far happier when we lose than when we win. And you often write complete arse. Just IMHO of course. It's one game. We did OK. We need some work in a few areas - right back and up front I think. But your sense of 'inevitability' is just tosh. Mind you if I lived in Austria I'd be quite depressed too.
  18. i see rasiak's not even on the bench. when's he leaving d'you think? still think mcgoal backed up by bwp is our weakest link. time to prove me wrong boys.
  19. Why the Indian flag?
  20. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=10407 Not sure why the New Management feels the need to 'big up' mcgoaldrick every chance they get. I didn't think self-belief was one of his problems. He's done well this pre-season but is a long way from the finished article. Either way, I hope he gets a decent run even if he doesn't score in the first couple of weeks of the season. But I'd still be bringing on an alternative up front during the second half. I now realise Barto is the only poster on here who knows anything about tactics or football in general, but funnily enough I still rate Rasiak's ability to put the ball in the back of the net.
  21. Liverpool fans have been voted the most attractive in football with Portsmouth's blue army taking the dubious honour of worst looking. (The Mirror) Nothing much to argue with there (apart from the Liverpool bit).
  22. Fair point. But if it works, it'll be ****ing awesome .
  23. While the endless debate about Rupert Lowe goes round in circles, and is obviously of all-consuming interest to some, I personally don't give a rat's arse right now. So back to what this thread was supposed to be about - I'd like to know whether Arsenal had any role in the transfer of Schneiderlin from Strasbourg and whether they have been given any guaranteed option to buy in the future - and for how long is Andrew Davies likely to be out?
  24. And if you want any indication of how lazy many sports journalists are, and how little they know about our team, check out the BBC's squad selector for SFC. You can pick (among others) from the following: Le Tissier, Lundekvam, Viafara, Makin... Idiakez, Mettomo, Kaland, Ostlund, Pericard, Iain Pearce, Fatty Hammill etc etc. Only name missing is A Dia
